I'm not really a frequent poster here but I follow closely and recently went to the park (between Christmas and New Years) and have a few musings...
Seuss Landing: This area used to be a pass through for me, but I went on Cat in the Hat due to the praise it generally receives on these boards and honestly just don't see it. It was just underwhelming in every way (not due to the lack of spinning, since I've gone on it before then), and I don't really think it holds up to the Disney dark rides. That being said, I think a large scale refurb would do wonders for this attraction (impressive animatronics, etc.)
Lost Continent: Okay, now this area is a pure walkthrough. Sinbad is a joke and Poseidon is not far behind. Great theming notwithstanding, when a land's best feature is a talking fountain you know something must change. Thankfully, it appears this will be the case in the near future.
Harry Potter: Forbidden Journey was better than I had remembered, and everything seemed to be working. This land was really great.
Jurassic Park: Okay, heres where things get a little dicey. Jurassic Park is great, it really is. The area just feels like an unfinished work in progress as of now. River adventure could use a refresh (the gate was propped open the entire time, so we missed the epic opening, the dinosaurs seemed a bit off, the hardrosaur was stuck in the upright position, the ultrasaur seemed super rubbery, etc). I still thoroughly enjoyed the ride and these are a bit nitpick, I just know that nowadays Universal is capable of better, realistic animatronics. Also, the land needs a smaller experience in the Triceratops plot to tie it together.
Toon Lagoon: Also actually better than I had remembered since my last visit...Dudley was a mess but still somehow enjoyable and Popeye was great. I would say refresh Dudley extensively but that doesn't really make sense if the land is on the chopping block. Hate to see Popeye go though. PUT SOMETHING IN THE THEATER ALREADY.
Marvel: Spiderman was great, and I enjoyed the Hulk for what it is, but I don't really like the other two rides, as I don't see the need for rides like that. But I guess they're not taking the place of anything else major so they don't really bother me too much.
Overall, the park just needs to be fleshed out. The ambience of the entire park is SO amazing, it just seems that, with several relatively simple improvements (although huge undertakings like Kong and eventual Seuss expansion are obviously awesome), the park could feel so much better. The rides that currently exist all have huge potential but the only two home runs are Potter and Spiderman. I get the toon lagoon negligence because their time is limited but I would really give some love to JP and CITH at the very least. Oh, and a nighttime show. Place is a ghost town at night.
