Somehow missed it until today, but Montu is now very, very, very yellow. Did some digging and found a photo from a repaint in what appears to be 2007:

And the new color - these repaints just scream Six Flags to me:

They're definitely doing deeper colors that take much much longer to fade in the sun

Ironically this is an unintentional nod at Python lol

I saw it in person, which is what led me to describe it as very, very, very yellow.

You know, after looking at old pics. The supports have always been a sandy/gold color

This deep yellow seems a bit much after reviewing

However, I do expect it to fade

It appears that the thematic shift is from blending with the “archeological site” to the falcon-man god.

Thematic shift, who am I kidding  it’s just paint

Buuuut, those colors were extremly intentional to fitting into the "Egypt" area

That was the 90's though

Here now and the yellow is TOO yellow for my taste. I miss the older color for the supports.

The blue painting is all done right? I like it (as far as from the picture, still need to see it in person) but I think both the yellow and the blue should have gone softer. For the yellow it's like they were going for a color closer to gold but overshot it.

The colors do look good right next to each other like around the barrel roll. The problem seems (to me) is when you stand back and look at the coaster as a whole it ends up being far too much and too bright (which doesn't help in a place that also gets a lot of clear, sunny skies). So you end up getting that flaming sun yellow reflected straight into your eye a little too much because of it. You're gonna need sunglasses just to find the entrance when approaching.

Again I haven't seen this in person yet but it does look extreme compared to the previous color. I thought it could also be that particular photo isn't really capturing the colors accurately and I did find this post on reddit, but that didn't change my perception either.

I'm hoping that's the case. I also am sure it'll likely look better in another year or so after it's weathered a bit, so I'm hoping that's the reason it's this yellow now.

This park has seen more work in 2022 than it has in the past 5 years combined. Really hope they can get to the SBNO theaters and attractions next

While it’s good to see them investing so much (not that paint is that expensive, but still) in maintaining things, I’m not really a fan of just how aggressive they’re going with all of the color schemes across all of the parks.

The Rhinefeld area at BGW is… oooof. (Courtesy BGWFans)

Screamscape is reporting Kumba's days may be numbered. As one of the oldest B&Ms and and with year round operating season it is probably near the end of its operating life (like Hulk and DD).

If that is the case that would be an ideal space for them to build a hyper or giga to replace it...

I’d be ok with a dark ride (even one as low budget as they could afford) going there. I know that’s highly unlikely even if Kumba is going bye bye. Which I will believe when I see.

If it happens I hope they keep Montu in good condition—just three years younger.

Sea World/Busch does not have a good recent track record with dark rides. Would t mind seeing a flying theater at the park.

I'll admit I don't give Kumba much love these days, but I would be sad to see it go. Has been a cornerstone of the lineup for so long. I'm one of the weirdos that prefers Kumba to Montu but I'm a negative Gs kind of guy anyway.

I guess I can't be mad if we get a Giga in its place, but we'd definitely be losing a classic.

This sounds like a new drink.

After looking it up, I think that I'd rather go Intamin or B&M to replace. The VBB has a low height (which could be modified, I'm sure) and low throughput. Something like Kondaa but taken to giga extremes would be a great addition, in my opinion. If they want a multi-looper, I'd stick with B&M or maybe Mack.

Python was my first looping coaster. It's gone. Kumba was my first B&M. So it's probably toast.
