But like I said, get real. Every single place that opens up that is very popular and has plenty to add on to, of course there are expansion rumors that die down after a while. What new park/area of a park do you know that has opened up and has been expanded? There might be, but from my knowledge there are none. I can see some minor additions in the future, but nothing huge as a new "Phase."

Exactly. You can eat candy so its practicle to have a store, and things like monster book of monsters, quiddich toy equipment and the quibbler are already sold in dervish and banges.

A store for each would be impracticle and within years would have to close.

I agree, it is a tough argument, if you are making more money than even Disney could dream of from one little spec of land, why increase its size? On the other hand, why not expand it three years from now (opening date) to boost the appeal for those that have already visited? Arguably, the franchise will not have faded in three years yet why build more?

Regardless, I know that something is moving through UO's guts regarding this. I cannot tell whether it is Filet Mignon or Kraft Mac & Cheese; but it does not sound like noodles in a box to me. I don't think UC knows for sure what they can get at this point nor is it clear if they get it they will be allowed the finances to build it. A tough call.

I am still saying the expansion we will see will be thematic touches and the big easy ticket the theme parks always like to tap into and the big one they are resting on here...Holidays.

I at least see WW taking over the arabic section of LC and Sinbad. That I believe is a foregone conclusion with an Eticket/Dticket type attraction where Sinbad currently is. And its not a matter of if, but when.

What I was getting at is that they most likely have not gotten approval from JKR or WB yet as far as I can tell (unlikely as you have to come up with new ideas, mock up new ideas, render conceptions of new ideas, present ideas, negotiate, legal contracts etc.).

Whimsical "No's" are not out of the question when it comes to JKR or WB even when it comes to money. Then you have to get green-lit from Blackstone, NBC/Universal, UO or whoever it is that has the money in all of this.

I'z jus sayin!

I rest my case... this is gonna take some time... a long time by some of the younger peoples standards on here. And this is just over a Christmas Tree!!!:

As Warner Brothers and J.K. Rowling have a heavy hand in the ongoing development of the park, it's worth noting that these decorations were specifically approved by WB and Jo.

But there's one thing missing: a Christmas tree. Universal employees told Hilary one was in development, but J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers approved it a tad too late for it to appear this season. They said to expect one next year. We expect it may look similar to the one found in the Sorcerer's Stone film?

Imagine the time involved in expansion proposals! Years... I promise years.

I'm sure we'd all LOVE an expansion. But it's all the fantasizing going to your heads. They had to get WB AND JK Rowling's approval on decorations and a christmas tree. Like Teebin said, I defiantly do not see an expansion in our ages. Not any time soon. Look how long it's taken Disney to expand Fantasyland...

Yep, and a lot of it is our spoiled selves being able to go so much. This thing just officially opened six months ago and so many people who want to go so badly all over the world will be going for at least a decade to come.

Given the huge popularity of the Wizarding World, a Potter expansion seems like a smart move for Universal. However, I personally don't like the idea. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, and Wizarding World looks AMAZING! I just think making the island any bigger would be overkill. As things are at the moment there's a good balance between all the islands, but expand potter and it will start to dominate the park. I know it's unlikely but I'd much rather see Universal pump some money into what's left of The Lost Continent; spruce up Posiedon, replace Sinbad with a more up to date show, retheme the Arabian section to ancient Greek like the rest, squeeze in a cheeky flat ride somehwere. I just think the whole myths and legends theme has so much potential and it'd certainly be much easier to implement than Potter, which would require a HUGE budget and JK's approval. Just a thought, I'd be happy either way though. :)

I completely agree. IoA needs diversity.

Lost Continent got so cheated on. Everybody goes right past it for Potter. It's the most dead place in the entire park, with the exception of people going out of the Wizarding World, carrying their cups of butterbeer as they pass by people going in. I agree with IOA's need for diversity.

As dead as it was before, I'm sure WWOHP only helped as far as the vendors and midway games as the area. Hell, I'd never even tried Fireeater's Grill until I passed it on my way out of HP. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yes, I'd love an original ride even moreso but I'm honestly looking forward to whatever Universal has up their sleeves because so far everything has been fantastic.

Interesting article from the Orlando Sentinel:
Few, if any, experts expect the frenzy to subside in the immediate future.

John Puchalla, an analyst with Moody's Investors Service, predicts Universal's attendance will continue climbing by 15 percent or more through the first half of 2011. He expects it will turn slightly negative in the second half of the year — but only because Universal will be facing tough comparisons against this year's grand-opening crowds.

"We believe the attendance lift generated from the June 2010 opening of [Wizarding World] will continue for the next several years," Puchalla wrote in a research note last month.

Still, amid all the attention being paid to Potter and Islands of Adventure, Universal is taking steps to prop up Universal Studios, which is the resort's original theme park and was, until Wizarding World opened, its busiest. The resort's lowest-priced annual passes for 2011 prohibit entry to Islands of Adventure over the summer — but permit admission to Universal Studios.

Executives have also begun discussing how and when to add to Wizarding World. Among the debates: whether to add something more to Universal Studios first.

Puchalla expects Universal to spend about $80 million on construction in 2011. Though that would be significantly less than the $105 million a year it averaged from 2007 to 2010 — when it built Wizarding World in Islands and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and The Simpsons Ride in Universal Studios — it would still be about twice the annual capital spending that Universal averaged during the middle part of the decade.

Although they won't discuss specific plans, Universal executives say additions to Wizarding World will happen at some point. The resort's licensing contract with Warner Bros. requires it to incorporate elements from the final Potter films, the last of which will open in theaters in July.

"We intend to very gladly live up to all those commitments," Sprouls said.

"We intend to very gladly live up to all those commitments,"

that was my favorite part of the whole article...

So does anyone recall the time frame given in the contract to add on to the wizarding world with elements from the final films? Im sure there is a cap, and it is quite possible that we may be able to better guesstimate when we can see some more official talk of expansion. The fact that this article reveals they were thinking of adding onto WWOHP before even adding anything to universal might put us within the next 2 years for either park. If anything, I expect they will develop a plan that adds a new attraction to Universal as well as expands WWOHP back to back, just like they did with Rockit and Phase 1. This way they can build momentum by bringing something new to each park to keep people coming back.

LC needs to be revamped if it is to stay. It has 1 good ride, 1 very good dinner spot, and an ok show. The problem is all the people that go to WWOHP first barely notice PF and Mythos and just run by the carnival style games ( whcih are pretty pointless imo) The theming is pretty good, but a new LC themed ride would be better then a new WWOHP part for now. I think it would be a bit much to hastely make WWOHP ll a year after the original opened. Rather uni can focus on the rest of the park, and keeping WWHOP looking the way it is now.

It is time for them to demolish FF:L and build an attraction there. Whether is the Kong Gigacoaster that was suppossed to in US: Dubai or something, but they need another big time attraction at the Studios, as well as expancd the WW.

I knew this was going to happen, and since the last film comes out next July, I fully expect construction to start on something in the fall next year.
