I am very interested in how they will hide the trains. Someone posted earlier that their will be stationary facades for the train that will open and never allow you to see the train itself. I'd love to see that happen-Genius!!

Teebin posted that comment about the facades...had to go back a little bit to find it

Please note that this was not inside info. It is just my assumption of the logical possibilities having thought the hell out of it.

(Been observing silently on and off; great discussion and info.)

They won't. It is my assumption that you will not be able to see any train either onstage or backstage. It may be that even the cars in the station will be facade only and will go nowhere. Think of the glass walls and doors of the monorail at OIA.

This is what I expect as well. Of course, then, there's the issue of the awkward experience of watching the group of people in front of you board the train, the doors close, the engine remain stationary, and the doors reopen to an empty car. To remedy that, I would expect that only the people to board the next departing train would be allowed onto Platform 9 3/4 (and something similar on the IOA side) as though YOUR train has just pulled into the station.

Exactly. There would be a holding merge or spot prior to the loading platform wait. This would also be smart because as people wait to board it gives them longer to absorb the details and there is a zero percent chance of guests ever being able to really see the real track that the ride system runs on.

I had mentioned a while ago an idea that you watch a preshow teaching you how to run through the wall to get to platform 9 3/4, and they somehow recreate the experience that we are walking through a wall, and there the train is billowing smoke in all of it's glory, giving the impression we see Harry get in the very first movie.

I felt like chiming in and playing devils advocate...
I scoffed at the idea of an overhead tracked system for the Hogwarts Express, but it's actually quite possible because the track will need to allow tall vehicles to pass on the service roads. An overhead rail gives extra clearance for vehicles that need to get through without the track needing to be so high that it could be seen from the parks.

And if you can't see the track or vehicle from the station then it doesn't matter what system you use.

I think at this point it all leads to overhead track, especially with the size of the markers.

I'd welcome an overhead track.
But Shellemonster right, as long as you can't see it it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I have seen the current concrete mounts backstage and it perplexed me... they are only 5-7 feet high. That said, perhaps they aren't finished and it will be higher. It is true that it cannot block backstage access. Fun guessing what it will end up being. I am not sure why HTF is speaking in such definite terms.

The only thing that makes me think they won't be raising the supports higher is because in the pics I've seen it looks like they have already installed some sort of brace to the concrete supports that's looks like the track may connect to to that bracket or whatever it is.

It seems like HTF hit the nail on the head, though. With the amount of clearance they've provided for track elevation between the parks and the fact that they will need to conceal any potential overhead track from view on either end, it only seems likely that HE will be elevated above the track. Universal knows the logistics better than we do and this just seems like the prime candidate.

It will not be overhead reasons for the exact reasons stated that it could be. They want to have constant clearance for any common large vehicle that could need to get there. Also with an overhead track system emergency evacuation would be much more complex.

A simple reliable transit system is all that is needed as far as the track goes. The money will/needs to be going into the themed cabins and effects within.

Yeah 5-7 feet is certainly not high enough.

All I'm saying is that if whenever theming starts coming in there are no Powerade bottles stuck in one of the taller facades, I will be royally pissed.

We'll have to hope that the HP 2.0 construction crew is one that is fond of tradition.
