How come when the original HP was coming up, there was a ton of stuff to be spotted at Nassal, but this time around there hasn't been anything there. How much are they actually doing this time?

That is what happened before, from what I hear Uni asked them not to let out that much information anymore.

Thanks DH. Those appear to be 12' - 15' in diameter. I wonder why two in a row. More torque?

The SF Cable Cars use a similar system:

I think the setup is to prevent slipping.

Thanks for the most excellent pictures HTF!

Now... what in hell are those gray panels near the top?, some look like reinforced concrete panels and others looked like plain sheet metal. Why for? Why up there? I have a feeling this only something that Nassal could answer. Most unusual...

Exactly

All the systems I have seen are like this. Wrapping the cable around the two causes tension so it would not slip, I don't think it would even work right with just one.

So, is it just me, or is anyone else getting the feeling that they really screwed up the waterfront wall in terms of materials? I'm thinking that they'll have to put a wall back up when the London facades are done and have to practically redo the exterior coatings from step 1, right down to the concrete base, because nothing they've done has held up or looked permanent or good enough when it has lasted any length of time.

Not just you. Each new pic I see of those dang "patches" makes me cringe. It looks like they can be fixed, but each time it is like the just do without thinking first. They are putting together materials that do not mix well, expand and contract at different rates (guaranteed cracking).

Yeppers... this is why the mockup of a Hogsmeade structure sat on the nassal grounds for years starting in 2007. I would wager they didn't do such a test with the embankment wall treatment starting 3 years ago.

That desire/push for ultra secrecy in development turned out to bite them this time around. I'll let others finish the thought currently going through my mind. :-X ;)

Thanks for the awesome update, HTF! They're making quick progress here. I wonder if they're hauling ass to have this ready in less than two months... Hopefully.

Thanks everyone! So several pieces of Potter merch for Diagon Alley are making there way through initial product tests before they get shipped off for product approval at WB's and JK's blessing. While there is going to be numerous new options for merchandise throughout Diagon I've noticed a few things. One is price points, as there is going to be some very realistic "authentic" merchandise for sale. Numerous items will be in the three figure dept with a couple pieces pushing the 1k bar.

Another thing I've noticed is one shop is gonna be where it's at. Dare I say it will be the "Ollivanders" of Phase 2. Yes I know that's hard to comprehend since we're also getting another Ollivanders in phase 2 but as I've said before some very very cool stuff is coming to Borgin and Bourkes and I expect this shop of dark magic to steal the show so to speak. While masks on the walls watch your every move and you tempt curiosity with the hand of glory you will shop unique trinkets such as Slughorns Hourglass, Umbridges Quill, death eaters masks, bones of those gone, cursed necklaces, and so much more...

Thanks HTF! Those pics of the theater got me stupid excited for this. I'm trying to think what kind of products would push 1K? The broomsticks in D&B are quite pricey, but not anywhere near that much. I'm coming up with nothing that would fit that bill.
