Because of Dinosaur, there is no Beastly Kingdom. It's sometimes hard to like it

That's not true. Because of Disney suits there is no beastly kingdom. They could have put it where Camp MM is with no problem.

I actually liked the movie Dinosaur :stunned:

But let's get :focus: ...

Interesting to read Teebin's response... A little discouraging to hear that, hoping that we do get a Phase 2 for Potter!

According to inside sources, the reason BK was shelved was because the Disney execs slashed the budget for the park so much, that there was only enough money to build one area: Beastly Kingdom or Dinoland. The execs choose Dinoland because they wanted it to market and advertise the movie. So in a way, you could say that it was both.

EDIT: Sorry Frogki, we were posting at the same time. Carry on.

This. Sorry for the confusion.

Getting myself back on topic, some of you might remember I was quite against having a Phase 2. I've been reading the books (about halfway through GoF) and imagining what it could be, and I had a slight change of heart. My official opinion was that an expansion wasn't really necessary, but if it were to happen, a Diagon Alley area would suffice.

With fresh perspective, I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong  However, I do still believe only a small area will do. Diagon Alley has plenty of shops and little experiences that alone would draw at least Potter fans. A Gringott's coaster could be done, but with a decent story, not just because the mine cart is like a coaster. I still believe Voldemort should not make an appearance, based on the time period that WWOHP is set in. I might try to do a sketch or model like Descendo did to illustrate what I think it could be like.

As far as possible models for the Gringott's coaster, I think a Gerstlauer Eurofighter is a great choice. Since it is like a small space, a Mack eMotion coaster might work, though the shape of the vehicle is a bit different. I suppose they could go with Premier but with Mummy next door they might not. I think it's pretty safe to say it would definitely not be an X-car  Eurofighter is my top choice; seems perfect for it.

A Eurofighter would my favorite option. But if they wanted something more family friendly, I've always wanted to see a wild mouse (non spinning) that was actually themed well and had a unique layout. I don't know why I like them so much, I just do.

I thought WWOHP was to incorporate elements from the whole series? I always wondered why Voldemort never made an appearance anywhere, he's kind of a big part of the story... like there wouldn't be a story without him-kind of big... Sorry if this has been explained before. Did JK not want him in for some reason? Maybe they are saving him for phase II?

I don't see Voledmort ever showing up. After all, we're a bunch of Muggles. Voldemort would murder us before we could scream.

Well you do see the "Dark Mark" in FJ, in the Chamber of Secrets, but the popular theory (I tend to think more fact, than theory) is that the current land takes place between books 1-3.5, before Voldemort actually appears.

Because any attraction with Voldemort would need Harry. While WWOHP is whimsical, it was built as a real place. Placing Harry in another attraction would break the illusion.

I can only think of a few minor reasons why Voldemort wasn't featured in Forbidden Journey. Most likely, as I said, the time period. Voldemort isn't very strong when WWOHP is likely set.

I see... and it makes him more mysterious/scary if you never actually see him, just how he was written for much of the series.

by the way BriMan, your avatar & signature are both EPIC!

Why?

I'm not trying to argue that he is going to be in phase II. I'm just saying it would be possible to build an attraction with him that didn't have harry in it. Isn't Voldemort kinda pissed off at a lot of other people too? haha including us muggles...

Going by this rumor I made a little map of where everything could go. As you can see from the first image, there is PLENTY on room for Phase 2 and LC to still remain.

I think that at the end of the road, based on this picture, it should have a facade city. Similar to the ones at Hollywood Studios

Also the way you have it makes it seem very "never-ending buildings." Going right from KA to Hogsmeade with more enclosed buildings seems a bit much. I think there should be some "more open" area somewhere within.

Try imageshack, or upload them to your OU profile.

Thank you very much. I just posted the link using Flickrs new share option. But I will post in a few.

--- Update ---

This is my model of what I think the Leaky Cauldron entrance should look like. It is just a rough draft so there isn't much to it yet. So London is still included. And the green part of the Leaky Cauldron is covered behind trees...Enjoy.

Looking through the inside. You can see the posters on the side explaining what there is in Diagon Alley. Similar to the walkway into the Magic Kingdom, with descriptions and hopefully concept art.

This will be the news board saying this. Also it will say the Diagon Alley wall has been permanently knocked down for Muggles.

While there isn't too much to comment on, you address a key issue. Though it would be realistic, it is not practical to make entering The Leaky Cauldron imperative. A simple alleyway to the brick archway would suffice.

Will you be continuing this? I'd like to see more of what you think. I'm loving these WWOHP Phase 2 SketchUp models.

I always think Forbidden Journey along with the rest of TWWOHP is non-canon to the movies/books.

TheDecemberists said:
That would be about as relevant as Countdown to Extinction becoming Dinosaur. Or in other words, promoting a movie that nobody saw.

Where does everybody get the idea that Dinosaur was a flop? It made $349,822,765 worldwide ($127.5 million domestically) at the box office. Disney was kinda in a dark era during the early 2000s (Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, etc) so it was pretty much completely forgotten from the public mind.

"A movie that everyone had forgotten" would be a better term.
