Maybe I'm crazy and terribly wrong, but I couldn't imagine not getting a single HHN house announced before May.

(Yes, I'm aware they used to announce everything at once a month before opening, I get it)

So….now that Scream 7 has gone down in flames, maybe Paramount will be more willing to play ball for HHN? I know I’m probably being too optimistic here.

I don't think Paramount was ever the problem.

I know the idol has been seen this year, in the tribute store along with Boris shushter. But isn’t this Boris shushter’s old enemy are we getting a lovecraftian inspired icon next year?

I hope so

I think this is a good question,

If the sprung tents do get replaced, do you think they would mimic a SoundStage/Parade Building like structure?
Or since the tents are iconic for there cramped layouts, would they try to replicate that in a low roofed building with a bigger lifespan?

Personally, the tents continue to prove their worth every single year and if they are to do rid with them, I’m sure I and others would be pretty upset.

If we lose the tent layout, it will be a detriment to the event. Most of my favorite houses have come from these two areas.

I would be really upset if the Sprung Tents were removed.

I think Universal would replace them with a warehouse similar to the Parade Buildings. I guess the warehouse would be built somewhere on that backstage plot with the other Parade Buildings.

Other than the fond memories of the houses of yesteryear, why does it matter if the tents rumor is true?

At least in my foresight, it has to do with venue constraints and how the sprung tents are designed. Which is a good thing for the tents because the cramped spaces of the venue often lead to A&D taking advantage of that in almost every house that has been there these last handful of years.

Not saying they COULDN'T do that in a SS, but I wouldn’t want to trade the small sprung tents for giant SS like structures in fear the effects of the venue wouldn’t carry over.

For example, I do not think Wicked Growth, Scarecrow, Oddfellow etc, would have been as effective in a Sound Stage or a Parade building due to their tight corners and close scares.

One of the reasons that the Parisian Courthouses at HHN Hollywood over the past couple of years have won HOTY is because the compact nature of the venue forces them to get creative with the space and have smaller, more intimate sets, allowing for more intense scares. Same with the spring tents. The best houses always seem to be in the sprung tents where they have to get really creative with the space. I know replacing them with warehouses would be “better” venues, but there’s something about losing those tents that would make it a bummer to Sith ‘em.

There is something to those Sprung Tents. I also find that I enjoy those houses quite a bit more than the Soundstages or B108 with their almost boundless space.

I will say though that given the same logic, MiB and Shrek also had constraints and limitations that I don't think always worked out in their favors. You could even argue FnF Tent has a similar intimate and small scale too. While I liked The Black Phone a lot back in HHN31, I also think Freaky and Chucky were pretty dumpy personally.

I think it's really all in the execution. Case Files, Black Phone, and Slaughter Sinema were all wonderful S-Tier houses imo, but those same locations brought us Saw 2017, Chucky: UKC, and Depths of Fear. A good house can come from anywhere, and so can a bad one.

Counterpoint to that last counterpoint: I tried looking for a comparison example for Sprung Tent 1 and uhhhh... I couldn't find a bad one haha. I guess it's really all been bangers over there at Sprung 1 after all! Maybe just don't get rid of that one! :lmao:

I will defend Depths of Fear till the day I die :hmph:

Seriously tho, I haven't been disappointed by a Sprung house since Dead Exposure. But I do believe the Sprungs reached their maximum potential at HHN 30. Which was also seen at 31 and 32.

While I didn't have enough time to do The Purge at HHN 25, that house has been regarded as being not so good and as I mentioned, Dead Exposure was disappointing. So it seems Sprung 1 does miss, but very rarely lol. As long as I've been going, Sprung 2 never misses. Even Hive was fantastic.
