I think a big problem stems from an oversaturation of vloggers/bloggers. If everything does the same thing, how do you separate yourself? LEAK IT ALL.

Of course, not everyone is connected, so they'll just share what the milkman heard and not worry about accountability.

this, to me is like 99% of all of it. so many people want to be an insider soooo badly. most of them come off as total clowns daring you to argue something with them.

Also for anyone wanting to track their route during HHN download the Strava App. Its free and really nice. I've been using it for the last 4 or 5 years at HHN. Love seeing how many miles we walk!1708983785769.png

Question for everyone in here, and I apologize as it’s not directly related to speculation. I’m trying to decide whether to go to Orlando or Hollywood this year. I don’t have the means to do both. I’ve been to Orlando in 16, 17, 18, 22 and 23. Never been to Hollywood. My wife and I make a trip out of it and do other things like a Disney Park, etc.. Just curious if it’s worth it to go out to California for the first time or stay with what we know in Orlando. Any insight is appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply, but I live in California and travel to Orlando EVERY YEAR for their event.

I go to HHN Hollywood every few years because I just don’t like it as much.

I do attend Scary Farm every year and occasionally dabble in the Haunted Hayride, Queen Mary, or one of the local home haunts.

If the Haunted Mansion Holiday was going to be open this year (it won’t) I would tell you to make a proper trip and do Disneyland combined with HHN Hollywood, Scary Farm, and maybe something else (time depending).

Take all that for what it’s worth.

LA is massive and has tons of traffic, so u are going to spend at least $60 dollars on Uber and 50 min to travel from universal Hollywood to Disneyland each way. Disneyland as a park is slightly better than magic kingdom but DCA is the worst park in LA and Orlando imo. Universal Hollywood does have a few exclusive rides like the tram tour, life of Pets, and the purge stunt show during hhn. Their HHN is lower budget, a lot of black walls, but the actors have way more freedom to get in your face and follow u.

The budget has seen a significant increase over the years pre-apocalypse & post.

Hollywood can't get past the 2017 black wall shadow. They've made amends for this the following year-present ("Unmasked" we just sweep under the rug).

I am a non-express guest and we averaged 13 miles per day last year. We hit 16 miles the day we decided to go to volcano bay in the morning and do HNN at night.

Realizing I am not as young as I used to be.

I don't think it was 3 miles at Volcano Bay. Especially since my phone was in the locker most of the time we were there and not tracking me. I think it was just the fact that we got up early that day and did stuff and walked around the resort getting from place to place rather than just waiting for stay and scream to open lol.

Most of my time at volcano bay was definitely drinking fruity drinks and washing through the lazy rivers lol.

Yeah, I've been going to HHN since 2002, started on the east coast and now west coast since moving about 10 years ago. The Orlando event is ten times better both in the quality of the houses/scare zones and just the overall vibe.

Hollywood is fun, we go every year, but the houses are repetitive and are not the same scale as Orlando.

I go to both each year (HHN orlando one day, fly that next morning to HHN hollywood). I say go to Hollywood! that way, you can budget in like 100 or so for Knott's Scary Farms.

Not if you take public transportation. Albeit it is a longer journey but a fraction of the price and gives you time to sit back and sorta relax.

The only repetitive thing is literally the current repeat house trend. Otherwise, 2014-present has been diverse enough to not get stale.

You can't compare scale between the 2 coasts when Orlando's houses are predominantly in SS/Parade Buildings vs Hollywood in temporary tents. And to be fair, Hollywood has put out some great quality houses in those tents compared some less-than-stellar houses Orlando has had.

When you've been going to one event only for so long, a new TERRORtory gives a fresh spooky cleansing.

Since we're on the topic of comparisons, I guess I'll chime in.

As you can tell by my sig, I've been going to HHN Hollywood for quite a long tine. I frequently go there because I live pretty close to the park. Orlando, I've been able to more frequently recently, but I go there when I'm able to.

While I do think HHN Hollywood has absolutely improved in recent years (Except 2021. Let's forget that ever happened. Lol), I still absolutely prefer Orlando. Like others have said, it is on another level. Although I have noticed some set design or scares get repurposed a bit more, HHN Orlando is still an event I would go out of my way to check out because it's consistently great. Even 31, which I felt was one of the weaker years I've gone, was on another level compared to Hollywood. With some rare exceptions, (Like AVP) Orlando's scenic always blows away Hollywood's event. I do like how a lot of the houses tend to be a more grand-scale spectacle.

Now for Hollywood's event, if I lived in neither state and I had to chose between Orlando or Hollywood, I would go with the former no question. If I lived out of state and wanted to check out California's haunts, I would absolutely check out Hollywood, but make sure you check out Scary Farm! I personally enjoyed it more than HHN Hollywood this past year. While Hollywood's event is smaller in scale and doesn't quite have the space and budget that Orlando has, they use the limited venues to their advantage. Monstrous is a perfect example of that. The cramped spaces allow for a lot more raw intensity in their houses. Not to mention they have the actual film history on their side.

While I do prefer Orlando's event overall over Hollywoods, I'm going to share a bit of a hot-take: I think Hollywood does IP houses better than Orlando....generally speaking at least (I'm lookin' at Weeknd, Chucky, TLOU, and Blumhouse). Since Murdy runs Hollywood, he is all about those IPs so the Hollywood team seems to have a better knack for that. They also have access to a good team of mechanical engineers so there's that.

But yeah, I love both events. Orlando I tend to favor more, but Hollywood has its charm as well! They use the limited resources to their advantage!

My HHN loyalty has shifted to Singapore (also some of Japan) & I've never been there!! (Thank the HHN gods for Dejiki's in-depth coverage!)

But I'd choose those over the east or west coast events  I'm a terrible fanboy lol

From Spain, here we leave the map of speculation that my wife and me have created. We hope you like it :). We can't wait for September to arrive to be there for another year.

I like your list! There are a lot of movies on here that I'd love to see make the actual event, and some I am surprised haven't made it in a previous year either. Here's hoping a good number of your picks are correct. September can't come soon enough!

Supercharged will have a house this year. Again, that closing rumor - grain of salt.
