I know this is gonna sound like a broken record, but there are trees around the pool perimeter that need to grow. Will it block it completely? Probably not, but it looks like it won’t be as intrusive when they hit peak maturity.

There is nothing they can do about that so it will have to suffice.

Well, given the Mediterranean/Classical aesthetic of the Helios, it's kind of a no-brainer to do a trompe l'oeil mural on that wall (as was done back then) with arches and other architectural motifs appropriate to the Helios theme and also trees and ivy, etc. to psychologically substitute for the foliage that won't be there for years.

It could be such a cool, imaginative illusion-mural that it adds to the pool area ambiance.

These are just examples, but the exact content/look could continue all the aesthetics of the Helios.

Come on man. I don’t need you to agree with us, but saying we’re “looking at the wrong things” is silly. If you’ve gotta tell me where to look, you’ve failed to deliver on the promise your price tag suggests.

The building doesn’t loom over the pool or even the roofline of the pool bar. I really don’t see that it’s a big deal. The way people have talked about it makes it sound like it was so intrusive you couldn’t NOT see it. That picture I posted shows the building is unobtrusive. If it looked taller than the pool bar I would agree. I know it is MUCH taller than the pool bar in reality, the picture Brian posted from the actual pool area shows what guests will see.

I didn’t say it was a big deal. I said it looked bad but overall the pool area still looks good. And again, I’m not asking you to agree — I’m merely asking you to be okay with the fact that we don’t and to not be so dismissive of the mild criticism that’s happened in this thread.

Bland, uninspired hotel, with a pretty cool looking bar, and great views. Exactly what I thought from what we had seen previously.

I would not pay to stay there, but the view is awesome.

The rooms need a rethink. I HATE the bedspreads, they will always look cheap at best.

The rooms look very ordinary, moderate level hotel type, but the park view from the rooms facing is excellent. Rooms are definitely not in Portofino's class.

I think you mean Modern because that’s what most people refer to when talking about the design of most new Disney hotels or even Universal.

Everything is very contemporary looking and not very kitschy in design like the 90s.

I mean. I’m someone who likes modern, but I still find this overly bland and generic.

Especially being basically the icon of the park.

Again not much difference to me, I won’t pay for it. But I hoped for more.

Fairly disappointed in the rooms . I guess it makes sense
That the price seemed somewhat reasonable compared to their other higher end properties in the area.
This is really just a well themed moderate hotel , with the illusion of luxury/elegance, from the outside. This is fine as long as they don’t start charging Disney Poly prices.

Will see how it goes , at the end of the day I could really only be paying for the exclusive entrance and park view. Since I have to pay for express at Epic, it doesn’t make much economic sense to stay here if you are doing multiple parks and getting free express elsewhere

I was about to ask, are the bedspreads meant to be functional or ... ? It looks like bed runner material except the entire bed o_O

I like the first half of the room in the video, except the hall by the closet seems a little narrow then the sleeping area just seems off. It just feels like it needs another 40sqft or so for the size of the room to match the elevated design.

It looks pretty nice to me. When I first saw photos I wasn’t wowed. I like it better now. That shower though should be much nicer. It does remind me of Gran Destino Tower in a way.

Did not think the Monsters building looked big in the photos from this thread, but WOW, this video makes it look gigantic.

I knew Gran Destino comparisons were inevitable, but so far Destino kinda seems a little nicer.

I agree. I like what I’m seeing from the video now. There are certainly some lovely finishes here.

I will say Coronado is probably in my top 3 Disney Resorts though. I loved the tower and grounds.

The under appreciated aspect to the public spaces are the textures, so many different surfaces and finishes. Really nice. Just wish it also extended to the rooms!

Maybe I’m wrong, but my understanding is the bedspreads are custom and have a design to them specifically created for Helios. It may not be reading that way in photos and videos, but they’re not as generic as people think.

I really hope the pool doesn’t have annoying DJ music that will leak into dark universe.
