$3 a person for bread at Flora Taverna is wild lol

I know it's not a Universal-exclusive thing, but its wild to see places charge for bread service

Especially odd when I ate at Finnegan's last night and ordered the soda bread for free

The bread in question

I will say Flora Taverna food is incredible, and I will definitely be eating here again.

And yes, you will be able to enter Helios from the park and then go back out to the park after, even if not staying at the hotel.

You can come in just to chill at spots like this, for a little respite from the park.

Ate at Flora Taverna tonight, might be my new favorite restaurant in the Orlando parks/resorts.

Food is pricey, but comparable to some of the more fine dining experiences through UOR & WDW.

Very good food that provides a healthy mix of unique & safe options for picky eaters.

The entrees were great, but I’d probably stick with the apps & shareables (aka tapas style) as they were more flavorful. Drinks were great (Espresso Old Fashioned) was great, and the service was great.

Definitely recommend a nighttime reservation.

Tried a few drinks here, the jumbo shrimp, and beef skewers. Everything was phenomenal. Just very pricey.

Yeah I think some of the menu options like the skewers don’t justify the pricing.

The price would be my only complaint, but otherwise - everything was delicious.

Am I right in assuming you have to book a table/space/seat/whatever for Bar Helios?

If so how would I go about doing that, it would be for my birthday in October, I've already treated myself to an express pass for the park for that day, and just thought it would be a nice end to the day.

You do not, although I would recommend it for the Opening months. By October, I wouldn't expect it to be necessary.

If you decide you want a reservation for peace of mind @Spike101 , the reservations are handled through Resy, which i’ve found pretty easy to use.

"Greek olives oil" followed by "olive oil" is breaking my brain a little bit.

Question? Is it worth staying here for early entry? Or will any resort hotel do?

To enter the park before 11am? Or to enter the hotel from the park?

Is this new? Cause I know someone who entered the hotel and returned to the park without a room just yesterday.

They didn't specify. They made it sound like they were turning people away from entering Helios, but maybe it's turning people away from entering the park through Helios.

They didn't check our room keys at any point when we were using that entrance this weekend but could be the case going forward.

At park close, we did trek all the way to the front gift shop. Then on our way back as we were walking, security started asking to see our room keys.

But the only thing in that direction was Helios so yes.. that's why we were walking towards it in that vicinity.

Just as I was thinking man.. I love it when parks let you walk around after close without bothering you like Epcot after dinner. Spoke too soon. :lmao:

We saw this sign yesterday while visiting Helios. The direction it was facing, I think it's to turn non-Helios folks away from entering the park from Helios.

The hotel is very open to receiving park guests and letting them back into the park. It’s probably how the restaurant is going to survive during the day after breakfast.

But I can see them trying to dissuade morning folks, although that was the point of the exorbitant self parking fees.

Yeah, this is basically how the Grand Californian in Anaheim work these days. They're checking for room keys (or breakfast reservations) in the morning to prevent people from using the hotel entrance into the park. But by lunch, they're more than happy to have all comers spend $20 on an Old Fashioned. Gotta preserve the hotel guest perk while also keeping the bars and restaurants filled.
