If Universal was smart they would do a Florida Residence package where you don't need the hotel. Then they will have the hotel rooms for other guests from elsewhere trying to get in. Basically they will get money for nothing, because it is no expense to them to let a couple extra guests in, but they could charge for it.
I think that is what us AP holders want. We want a package for those that don't need a hotel room or passes to the park. We also want our preview. I don't care that someone got in before me, I just want to get in before the grand opening and crowds are crazy. Lets face it AP holders are spoiled, we know when to go and not to go to not deal with crowds or lines. Heck we spent the extra money for the premier pass so we get express after 4 PM, so worth it.
