You guys are also forgetting that many people spend the ENTIRE day there from 9 AM to 11 PM or however long the park is. I many times see families "resting" at certain locations. A new one in the summer is the circus water area because the kids can run around in the water area while the parents sit and rest. I also see people staying in Dumbo longer than they need to. Many places are dining locations, main street seating areas or in the open areas around there. By the sleepy Hollow place (sells waffle sandwiches) because it is covered, cooler, and is a neat place to sit. I have had conversations with various people in these areas since I am either doing the same or waiting for my husband while a diaper is being changed. They say they have been here since BLAH and are taking a 30 minute break or however long. So while you would think people paying the money they are to go to the park would not stop, many do if they need those mid day breaks. Some people take multiple breaks in the day.

So just back from 10 days in Orlando and the first visit with my boy who is 18 months old. I will try and do a full trip report but just wanted to give my 2 cents worth now I have seen FLE with my own eyes.

The area is beautiful and so full of detail that it is hard to take it all in. Admittedly there is a building site in the middle of it so yes this does distract from some of the magic but the expansion looks stunning.

Little Mermaid = Best queue in Orlando so ornate and really sets the ride up plus the interactive elements are great as well and keep the little ones occupied which is a huge plus. The ride its self is a great little ride, yes could do with been a scene longer but the AAs are amazing especial the Ursula so I can forgive them.

Story Time with Belle = Going to get a lot of stick for this but I am so glad that this ISNT a dark ride. Disney gets a lot of stick on this forum for not doing original or creative things any more and this attraction not only does that but allows you to be part of story in a way that no dark ride can do. The interaction between the AAs, cast members and Belle along with the smiles on everyone’s (not just the kids) faces made this for me and my wife our favourite thing in FLE. The mirror effect in the first room is mind blowing and unless you’re stood in the room you really don’t get the full effect plus to see children of all ages jaws just drop as the doors open is priceless. All the AAs in here are worth the wait alone but Lumiere is just ridiculously good. The experience as a whole attraction works perfectly and anyone who does or doesn’t want to join can do so.

Gaston’s Tavern = Small but perfectly formed. As some of mentioned not sure when peak seasons hit how they are going to cope but we really enjoyed the atmosphere and Lefous Brew tasted really nice.

Dumbo & The Circus Area = The Circus theme works really well incorporating Dumbo but maybe just so so for the rest of the area. The big winner here is the interactive Dumbo queue under the big top. This is a stroke of genius by Disney as there is nothing that turns a great day into a nightmare than trying to keep a young one happy with a 40 minute wait. The call back to ride system works really well and in fact as someone I think posted some pages ago the big problem might just be trying to get your kids out of the play area to ride the actual ride.

Be Our Guest = We booked our evening meal table 6 months out and boy are we glad we did. I really loved the show element where you are met personally and invited into the castle and have a mini guided tour again setting up the whole event. The main ballroom is simply stunning but I really loved the feel of the west wing and hope next time we eat it will be in there. The food its self was nice seemed a little strange to have paper napkins that you could find in a quick service restaurant in here though. But the highlight for us was our own personal meet and great with the Master, The Beast.

Overall Impression = Great expansion and I think a lot of people here are missing the point of it. It’s not about an individual E ticket ride or in fact any one ride itself it’s about been in a fantasy world and taking time out to relax and enjoy it. There is also a lot of debate about next gen queue and if its money well spent? For me the simple answer is YES. When you see children that only a few years ago would have been stood bored waiting for long periods of time to ride there favourite ride or even worse misbehaving now laughing and enjoy the pre ride nearly as much as the actual ride itself means everyone has a much more magical experience. So overall a great addition that has taken far too long but is perfect for its target market of families with preteens

I have to agree with this. Magic Kingdom is the most visited park in the world. It will be visited more and more for centuries.....they can't just plop down E tickets everywhere to make it 6 flags junior. This park is known world wide for its theming. Once everythings complete, a couple years down the road, its going to do nothing but add amazing detail to the park, and be a very welcomed addition.

When my wife and I sit down and say "what park has the most rides for us and our 5 year old? and where will we get our moneys worth the most?"

It's always MK. pirates, splash, btmr, space, cop, people mover, HM, TSI, dumbo, small world, philharmagic, *deep breath* etc etc.....nothing else comes close.

Now with seven dwarves coming and the addition to FLE, its making the park better.

The FLE is GREAT!!!! Lord knows that the one thing the MK was lacking is stuff for toddlers. By far most neglected demographic in all of the "World". I mean seriously, they just added a big kid attraction (Splash Mountain) a scant 21 years ago.

Seriously though, I am not a toddler, my kids are no longer toddlers and I have no plans on getting more toddlers. I have lost interest in their stale offerings and they are not building anything new that interests me. So I can really just scratch WDW off my "to do list".

Yup. Those E-tickets like Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean sure do make MK feel like a Six Flags!

I was thinking someone with the username "disneyhead" wouldn't be a Disney troll.

I'm a fifteen year old guy and wish I could go to Magic Kingdom everyday just to ride some of the dark rides like The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and maybe even Peter Pan's Flight.

You would think, wouldn't you. How bad must TDO be mucking up when someone with the screen name Disneyhead won't drive the 12 miles to go to the park for free?

They have add things for years just not E ticket rides and that I think this is the point me and some others are making. For a lot of people the experience isn’t just about rides it’s about the whole park and immersing yourself in it rather ticking ride boxes.

Go over to the Springfield thread, where people are praising new restaurants. It's not about a lack of rides, it's the lack of effort, or innovation that Disney is really known for. Or was known for at least.

Yes. The problem really isn't what they have added. It's that they've been adding small, insignificant things in parks that need major investment.

That should change if/when DHS gets approved and funded, but as of right now Disney is doing the bare minimum in Florida.

The primary reason guests visit the parks though, is for the rides. Immersion is an added bonus. If you don't add any rides in 20+ years, you can begin to understand the incredible amount of frustration with TDO.
