You guys are also forgetting that many people spend the ENTIRE day there from 9 AM to 11 PM or however long the park is. I many times see families "resting" at certain locations. A new one in the summer is the circus water area because the kids can run around in the water area while the parents sit and rest. I also see people staying in Dumbo longer than they need to. Many places are dining locations, main street seating areas or in the open areas around there. By the sleepy Hollow place (sells waffle sandwiches) because it is covered, cooler, and is a neat place to sit. I have had conversations with various people in these areas since I am either doing the same or waiting for my husband while a diaper is being changed. They say they have been here since BLAH and are taking a 30 minute break or however long. So while you would think people paying the money they are to go to the park would not stop, many do if they need those mid day breaks. Some people take multiple breaks in the day.
