This whole post makes me a little sad. Actually, this whole argument has made me sad for a long time.
I have been going to Disneyland about once every two years from the age of 3 to 18 and I am a huge fan of that park. I never really got into WDW as it just never had the same feeling or appeal to me even though I have been there a good half dozen times. I think Disneyland always felt more intimate and easy to navigate which I still to this day enjoy and I like most of the cloned rides at Disneyland more than the ones at WDW. Heck, I like it so much that I brought my wife there for part of our honeymoon.
That being said, I love Universal to but it is reversed as I like USO more than USH (which, until recently, I had been to more times that USO). The tram tour at USH is cool, but I never did it more than once in any of my visits. Adding Fallon makes it even less attractive to me now. I like USO for having superior versions of most of what was on the tram tour (at least it used to).
At the end of the day, I just like themeparks and I am happy that Disney and Uni are going head to head as it will force each of them to up their game. This to me is something to get excited over.

Now, on the Kong front, we have heard that the facade is going to be massive, but do we know that they plan on making the interior scenes as high as the facade? Also, could they pull an Indiana Jones Adventure move and have us using steep winding ramps to move between multiple floors (assuming there are multiple floors inside) instead of an elevator?

I still love disneyworld as much as I bash it, I wouldn't go as often as I do if I didn't. But I'm incredibly excited about going to DL next year because everybody is telling me it makes WDW look incredibly sad. I'm more interested it the ride vehicle has some kind of motion base underneath it. Will we get any movement during the 360 segment or will it be a Spider-man building effect where you feel like your moving by everything around you?

the last 3 major attractions to come to UOR were all screen based. Kong is rumored to have lots of screens as well. So I kind of understand the criticism.

Disney's recent additions have been 2 small dark rides, and a meet and greet. They actually need a good screen based attraction. I am guessing Avatar will fill that void. Just hoping they don't kill the boat ride.

But Disney has an amazing screen based ride, it's called The Legend of Jack Sparrow. It's amazing(ly bad).

I'm referring to "major" attractions. Not quick cash ins. Mine Train, Mermaid, and Belle are all big scale themed attractions. Even if the rides are a bit lackluster and one is just a supped up M&G.

More confirmation of the excellent attendance accompanying the Diagon expansion, echoing what Disneyhead & the other OU insiders have been saying since day 1. Believe in Universal, they're on the right track for long term success......As I've said before, I can't wait for Kong to debut. Bet it's tremendous.

kong is a strange ride for me because I want to know everything and nothing at all at the same time. Want to know all the details yet go on it completely blind

I'll lay out all the info I was given. Universal has pitched to Disney, an Ironman indoor launched B&M flyer. They want it launched so they can build it in a show building with extensive themeing. Uni Creative would like another crack at themeing a big boy coaster. And it would be the first launched flyer.

I know I'm super duper late to this conversation(been working a lot-sorry) but can Universal use Robert Downey Jr's voice?

Disneyland by and large is an awesome park and blows Universal and WDW out of the water. It just seems to most of us that praise Universal that the creative and managerial teams at TDO have just given up because they have this assumption that people will always go to WDW no matter what. I, for one, would love to see WDW be my favorite park but when I know most of the attractions' dialogue by heart I figure it's time for things to change. WDW isn't willing to change but they still turn a profit so Iger doesn't care. They only pull a profit because of their name and nothing else. I don't want WDW to fail by any means. The whole city of Orlando, including Universal, depends on their success. I just want for them to at least seem like they are trying to please us. When they refuse to add anything for almost six years and even then their newest addition is a one minute long mine train ride that is dwarfed by BTM, it just frustrates me. Universal is now opening up another IP with Kong that gives us something new to look forward to. Screen based or not, what do we have to look forward to next year at Disney? A show with people in costumes? And we are expected to pull out hundreds of dollars for that? I'm going to spend my money on something I am looking forward to, not something that is the same thing I did five years ago.

Lol, if they pay him enough. No but seriously I don't think Downey Jr.s voice is under any contract as far as I know.

No, Universal can only use the comic book version.

I'm the same way. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. I want to open the present but at the same time I know I need to until Christmas.

I've been trying to keep up with this off and on but must have missed it: is this slated for 2015 or 2016 now?

I originally said 2015 myself but in a podcast late last year I changed to 2016. Only time will tell! It's anyone's guess and that's the fun part of it!

yeah I think that's where I got the 2015 from but I thought I've seen 2016 somewhere too. I would love for it to be 2015 but it seems like they would have to work at a Transformers pace to get that done, and since it's not something they've built before like Transformers it makes 2015 seem like a real longshot. But that would be perfect thing to celebrate UOR's 25th anniversary (even if it's in IOA and not the studios.)
