Could individual gyrosheres work on a people mover track? That could be 2015 sci-fi modern and incredibly old school Disneyland all at the same time.

Most of the ride at ground level, herbivores. A helix up a level, out over the walkway above the DVC Kiosk. Loop back around into the jungle then into a show building where the classic Disneyland dinosaur diorama takes on a classic Universal feel.

Trilogy.
I heard the company is ready to bank on the sequels after this moneymaker.

Despite of what you think of world, you can't deny it's a better setting and lends more to a theme park than the original JP. There's no way at all to expand JP with JW, it's either one or the other. I also think a movie having to make a billion dollars in the box office to become worthy enough of a retheme is ridiculous. It's not in the numbers (although it's gonna be successful no matter what), it's in the merch, sequel potiental and attraction concepts and JW hits all three with a bullseye. Like it or not, this could be a high contender for the future of the resort

Well, JW and JP are the same island, and we saw in JW that the original park site was not that for from JW. I agree that if they want to expand the island, they should just change it to JW but that being said, if they wanted to have a bit of JP left over, it does fit with the setting of JW.

These days, every movie has a sequel potential.

Listen, I'm glad that's your opinion...

But no. JW was in no way, shape, or form anywhere near as good as Jurassic Park. JW is a very good popcorn movie. JP is one of the best blockbusters ever made.

As for expansions to the existing land...I could see some sort of coaster coming, but I still don't see how you build a dark ride that can be satisfyingly different from River Adventure.

You know they're the same franchise right? You also know Universal at the moment is about what's *now*. This movie will make over a billion dollars. It was good enough to warrant an expansion, if not a retheme to the entire land. It's not an insult to the original film (of which I am a huge fan of) to retheme to what's culturally relevant. After this movie, kids will be in JP and wonder where the Gyrospheres are or why the Discovery Center looks outdated. We love JP because we grew up with it, but Universal is about the right now, right now, and right now JW is going to kill it and introduce a generation to the franchise, why not match the land with the most relevant aesthetic?

They do but the discovery center along with everything else in the original JP is abandoned and rotting. It's also in bad taste to mention JP. It's not like the original discovery center along with everything else is up and running like it is in IOA

A freaking men. Also the original JP didn't even make a billion in the box office, in fact, no film in the universal parks made a billion in the box office. Actually, barely ANY movies make a billion dollars in the box office. JW is a theme park with a thousand possibilities for real attractions, why not make a land on that instead of the unfleshed out land we have today? Would you rather have the gyroshere or Hammonds hoops? I don't care if it's a "classic", one is obviously better for the theme parks then the other. :faint:Rant over....

Jurassic Park made a billion (after the 3D rerelease). Some of the Transformers movies made a billion.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part Two made a billion.

JP 3D doesn't count, I meant original release. DHp2 and TF4 both came out after the universal rides, case and point a movie doesn't have to make a billion dollars to become a theme park land

IF JW does as well as it should after what I saw at the Cinema the other day, I would hope it would prompt Uni to do something.

It sure seems like it will; its now projected to have the third highest opening weekend domestically of all time. This will be a really good sign and International could make it go higher.

JW has a high chance of making 200 million this weekend. If that isn't enough to make JP high on the priority list I don't know what is.

Maybe push JW additions ahead of F&F. Supercharged seems to need some tweeking (reshoots).

What if the gate near Kong becomes JW and the gate from Potter stays JP?

Well, here's where we get into a financials discussion. because JP, adjusted for inflation, made 700 million dollars in the US alone. Non adjusted it "only" made 357 million. Worldwide it made 914 million in it's original run. Adjusted for inflation that'd be over 1.5 billion.

Actual ticket sales are the best comparison between movies. Way too much ticket price inflation over the years.

This. The hype behind JP is not just financial. That movie destroyed what was known to man in regards to CGI those days. Not only that but for many people Jurassic Park was the epitome of their childhood. Jurassic World is a great movie and will inevitably make a crap ton of money but at the end of the day it's still a sequel and the core make-up of the film has been done before. It's good but not groundbreaking.

Im not saying Universal won't capitalize. I just think the hype is over extending some people's imaginations.

You guys are getting a little carried away I think. First of all, I agree that box office doesn't need to be the sole motivator for theme park attractions. But one weekend is too early to tell if something will last. I mean Disney jumped the gun on Avatar and that was a few months after that had finished its theatrical run. So this whole conversation IMO is happening a couple months too early.

But for arguments sake, let's say JW does make a billion, has huge cultural relevancy, continuously strong merch sales, etc...you still have to ask if Universal benefits at all from retrofitting JP with JW. Thematically, ok JP doesn't make sense anymore, but did it really make sense in 1999? After Lost World had taken place do people really want a Jurassic Park in Orlando (that same issue happens with JW but whatever). A theme park doesn't have to be ridiculously canon, it just has to establish a familiar place and do it well, which Jurassic Park currently does.
Then you have to run a cost-benefit analysis to see what all that re-theming would actually do for them financially. River Adventure isn't going anywhere, they could revamp it but would it really make a difference and would that bring in any more turnstile clicks? Would tearing down the Discovery Center for a more JW-style building really be justified financially? The only thing they could do that would make sense is add a new ride, but that would be tricky. Even then, there would be no reason to update the WHOLE island around a new ride. It just wouldn't be beneficial to Universal.

JP as it is now is fine. Its an Orlando branch of the theme park chain. That's good enough if you ask me, and the extensive aesthetic updates that you'd need to do to bring it up to Jurassic World standards wouldn't bring enough ROI to make it more appealing than just leaving the island largely as it is. Minor upgrades, I can see, but JP is doing fine enough in its current state to deserve a whole facelift.
