Usually the Insiders at Magic have been pretty good on Disney info, though rarely Universal info. But on the last two predictions that were kind of universal among all the Magic insiders, their info didn't hold. *Tower of Terror Guardians overlay *Location of Star Wars land in DHS. None of the insiders had this correct. And they were all pretty confident where they thought it was going.Even had maps up for months & kept echoing each others opinions. ......Not to say they're wrong on this too. Maybe they're right. But it seems that lately they've not received correct info or they're being fed wrong info on purpose. Just a thought.

(3) Infinity War is meaningless. The contract covers the comic books--as they existed ca. 1989--not movies that came over a decade later. For example, Iron Patriot (a 2000s villain in the comics, Rhodey in the MCU Iron Man movies) is fair game for WDW to use*--we know this because they used him, not Tony, for the premiere of IM2. Similarly, if instead of Black Panther the MCU introduced a new non-comics hero, say "Pink Squirrel," Pink Squirrel would be off-limits in IoA even if he received top billing in Avengers 4.

Sorry but this is just not at all true. I'm curious where this idea that the contract only covers the comics came from. That is never specified in the contract. In fact, the term used through most of it is "The Marvel Universe" or "The Marvel Banner". Never once does it state "characters as they appeared in the comics pre 1990." In fact there was a provision that gave Universal rights to character created and used after the contract was signed:

"The present inventory of the Marvel characters is set forth in the schedule to be attached or provided by Marvel promptly after execution hereof, plus any characters developed or acquired or licensed in the future by Marvel which (x) are marketed under the Marvel “Banner” or (y) were previously marketed under the Marvel “Banner” during the term hereof and are subsequently marketed under the “Banner” of a Marvel Related Company (defined below). "

The comics are what was used in constructing MSHI because that was their most well know interations. There was no MCU films, and all Marvel films til that point had been, well, terrible and unliked. Aside from a few decent cartoons, the comics is all the had to work with. Don't misconstrue that as being all they are legally allowed to use.

That's not what they were saying at first. They were saying it was greenlit and happening. It wasn't until later that they back pedaled. That began around the time the ToT bar was confirmed. Which makes me wonder how they had so much info and confidence about DHS' ToT overlay, but somehow missed a planned bar in the attraction...

Wonder how they would get rid of those things in the front. People bought those thinking they would be there forever. I don't mind if they are gone, it makes the park look really dated. But wonder if they move them somewhere else.

I have a hard time believing that Epcot would be re-done for a 2021 opening. That would be some pretty major stuff from Disney. I mean a LAND opening in 2017, 2018, 2019/2020, and 2021? That is a LAND a year almost (just skipping one either 2019 or 2020 depending on when SWL opens). That is pretty crazy and way more fast pace than even Universal has been over the years.

That is one of the reasons I have a hard time believing this rumor. I had a hard time with ToT because it would be bringing down a ride in an already low capacity park to re-do it and now I have hard time with this because it means Epcot will get major stuff by 2021 which just seems way to fast for Disney. That is a lot of construction over the next 5 years. Can they really open things on a faster pace than Universal has done in the last 6 years?

And that very well could've been the plan. Just like this could be the plan now, but we may never see it happen.

Things change, but Martin has consistently been very reliable with info.

The whole point of bringing up the triangles was because Martin was insistant that they were to be turned on, only there is nothing to turn on... They aren't screens. It was simply to point out that "insiders" are not infallible in their information, no matter their track record.

While surprising it is not beyond their doing...the lag for the longest has been Shanghai and Paris and MM+

It is not unremarkable to think that now those are on their way to some kind of balance that the money is being allocated to beef up Fl Property. Apparently, as was confirmed awhile back, money in the tune of about (350 million i could be wrong) was allocated for Epcot when the DHS plans were greenlit

It has always been a ? of how it would be spent

The only people that would be upset by this are the Purist on either side...for the Theme Park Lovers heavy construction is awesome!

I don't buy that Guardians won't show up in Infinity War just to take advantage of having theme park rides. Nobody would be that desperate when they are wallowing in ripe properties at the moment. I call BS on all of this GOTG in WDW crap until Disney announces anything now. Period.

I was implying the same thing. That's what I meant when I said "And that very well could've been the plan. Just like this could be the plan now, but we may never see it happen."

My point was, "insiders" get fed a lot of information and it's not always going to be right. It's almost impossible with how things change in the industry.

People bought them with the knowledge that they could be completely demolished after 20 years. They can also be relocated whenever Disney wants.

Was there not a problem with people leaning against them and getting burnt? If true, I'm sure Disney will be happy to see them gone.

Why??

There's so many spots for a GotG E-ticket (Speedway replacement, between Space Mt/CoP, or Stitch in Tomorrowland; somewhere in DHS).

M:S is the only attraction that I could see being revamped as GotG since it's already focused on outer space. Add some interactivity, some randomization (different stories like Star Tours 2.0) and HD graphics, along with an educational pursuit of some sort (scouting alien planets for plant life, space exploration, etc).

Energy just doesn't fit... especially since Future World West would become Spaceland if GotG took over Energy and WoL (might as well retheme Test Track fully to TRON if everything else is space/sci-fi.

I think it's a poor move to re-skin an existing ride at EPCOT when there are several empty pavilions just sitting there rotting.

Gotcha, I never attempted to buy one, but our in-laws did and they made it sound like it would be there for a long time if not forever. But then again they don't pay attention to stuff lol

This isn't a reskin, it's going to be a new ride and a show in the same building per Martin.
