But, one of the wildcards is, that I don't think people really do the park that way (namely DM, Shrek) first two rides of the day. DM' has the longest lines in the park, even fairly early, so unless you get there at park opening or have express pass, most people are going to walk right by and go to Diagon or Transformers or something else. And I don't see people walking into the park going straight to Shrek very often. That's a secondary attraction they come back to after they've done the main stuff they want to do.

I thought the whole experience was very fun. I did it twice today.

The interior is beautiful and the lack of a traditional queue is revolutionary (I wish they would make the colors easier to differentiate, for people that have trouble with that kind of thing).

I was disappointed that they were not using the live entertainment today on the second floor. I've only seen it in online videos so far.

And they need to do something about people blocking the entrance way into that back room with the stage. There is plenty of space inside, but people don't move forward and to the sides.

The ride itself has a horrible design flaw, the seat belt check. It was really embarrassing how long this took and for the team members with flashlights to keep yelling at people to pull the red strap.

I was really surprised how mild the ride is. Not much movement at all and it is very smooth, but it is still fun because of how silly and random it is. The supposed smells did not work either ride I did today.

I asked about the seatbelt check, and was told because is tech rehersal they can't rely on the sensors yet. So that will change. Also was told in testing the ride was much more dynamic... but it was damaging itself. :/

if everything went perfect it wouldn't be a theme park.Besides sometimes the best experiences come from a ride breaking down

That better not be true. I thought the ride was fine but I was hoping after softs they can tune up the movements a bit. If it's going to stay that mild then it's a one and done for me.

It might be a general positive, but the location near Minions and Shrek is an issue. If someone does those 3 they won't have a positive impression of the park offerings because of the repetition.

This could hopefully be part of the plan to usher Shrek (and the theater) out for another experience. I don't see Minions going anywhere (popularity, space),but a complimentary replacement could be a version of Super Silly Fun Land, SLOP, or other Illumination property. I do agree though that whatever the eventual replacement, a non simulator ride/experience would be the way to go. So Minions would be the kid simulator and Fallon would be the adult (I could be wrong, admittedly I haven't ridden it yet, so it could be = to minions) simulator.

Ultimately Fallon is part of that master plan, the 3 sims back to back to back won't matter because one of them is on its final leg and in the next 1 - 2 years (just a guess, is there any average time between GP vacation visits?) is replaced.

It's what Twister replaced and as a 4 year old with Ghostbusters being your favourite film of all time, it blew my mind.

You're in a for a treat.

This is also why a fire station was outside Twister.

Ive also heard rumors that the ride profile has significantly changed since testing began. Its a shame, but that whole building (even the new additions) shook and flexed when the ride was initially tested.

That's what happens when you use a 27+ year old building that has had 3 makeovers and was not meant to handle large and quick movements. The vibration isn't really a big deal and I'm sure the building can handle it.

I am wondering if they killed the motion in response to reports of nausea in the early tests? I don't do Simpsons any longer and maybe this was the same til they calmed it down?

Wait, the current Simpsons ride is the calmed-down version? I don't want to imagine what the original version was like. I went on this for the first time a week ago and couldn't look at the screen the entire time.

sorry.. :topic:

I know we've talked a little about the hidden references in the new facade windows for the Newspaper offices next door to the 30 Rock building, but I saw a few more than just the Twister and Bill Paxton ones. I'm still working on getting my full soft open video done, but decided to upload the part with the hidden stuff for now:

I love that there's a reference on every Newspaper hanging in the window! As far as I know, nobody else has been talking about all the Universal ones, just the Twister nods.

The two dozen shots of Tequila might have had something to do with it.;)...... The ride system they're using for Race Through New York, in it's previous "rough reincarnation" at BGW (before Europe in the Air) was about five time rougher than Simpsons. Now, that was "guaranteed" motion sickness.

Reports of construction crews installing monster truck large shock absorbers on each corner of the 30 Rock building this morning. ;)........ So, it will be interesting whether they can do something to amp it up as they told Orlando Informer that they may do before it officially opens.

This thread was cleaned up because it was going way off-topic. I'm gonna have to be strict about handling this thread going forward. Keep it about the ride and whether you love it or hate it. Any thread derailment and that person is getting a week ban. Enough.
