Both lands are immersive... in different ways:
Food and stores makes diagon immersive where pandora relies on placement.

Probably a pretty good way to describe the difference.

Pandora will without a doubt be immersive, but it will be a completely different experience than visiting either Wizarding World location at UOR.

Don't let being a Potterhead cloud your judgment. Pandora will be the best work Disney's done in FL since they opened DAK. The only difference is the attractions and theming will have to stand up on its own as there is absolutely no Avatarmania right now to help.

If this has huge crowds opening day pushing to get in, it has everything to do with Disney's quality, their hype machine, and marketing power, and little to nothing to do with Avatar.

"an amazing addition" is not what we're debating, but that it's Florida's "first amazing addition". Opinion or not, that's getting a little bit carried away.

It was something told to me in confidence. Still iffy if that includes RoL. Probably doesn't include anything else at DAK.

I think it will be the best addition to Disney since Tower of Terror, but that's a low bar.

This goes back to what I said in the Fallon thread...

Why are we insisting it will be "this" but won't be "that?"

Especially when it comes to "being there" - so far it looks like trees and rockwork to me. The additions that make it Pandora we can see or have seen in videos from Disney. Not all of them, but enough to get a feel for the direction. Heck, we've seen the concept art.

Nothing about it screams "amazing alien planet experience" but moreso "dense tropical foliage and interesting rocks." Honestly it looks a lot like the rest of AK.

To give an example, imagine we had a dystopian future theme park with like a Blade Runner aesthetic. Then they added a "totally immersive" 5th Element area. I'd be hard pressed to tell you where that section began and ended in the park. Lots of tall buildings and neon.

AK is lots of dense foliage and rockwork. This area is more of that.

So I'm not understanding why everyone is convinced it'll be like being there.

It seems Disney has picked Thursday to show off Pandora on ABC.
Good Morning America will focus on Flight of Passage
The View will have James Cameron giving a tour of the land to Whoopi Goldberg
The Chew will focus on food options at Pandora
Nightline will also have an "in-depth" look at the new land.

Holy smokes.

Even if the park operates 9-9, most guests will be seeing it in broad daylight.

But nighttime beauty does not a land make. If all the Wizarding World section offered was a beautiful view at night, it wouldn't be what it is today.
That being said, comparing the lands is difficult. Till Pandora opens, I'm reserving judgement on how impressive or unimpressive it is. From what everyone has said, I'll love the detail and beauty of the place. But it won't reel me in over and over like Potter and that is a direct result of the emotional connection I formed with Potter's story. I am taking a wait and see approach but I cannot see myself going out of the way to visit Pandora after the first visit or so.
In the end the general public will eat this up because the rides will be fun and the land will be immersive. It's a win for all theme park fans.

Vague posts like that don't convince me. As I said I'll reserve judgement until the day comes that Pandora opens. Cinderella's castle and Hogwarts don't keep me coming simply because they are beautiful. I keep coming back because I love the stories behind them.

When you enter the land, your jaw will hit the floor. This sends a message to the brain to release dopamine. You will crave that sensation, and thus enter a "compulsion loop".

So, based on human nature.

Sarcasm notwithstanding, you're making subjective statments when none of us have been to see the thing in person yet.
I trust HTF's sentiment that it'll blow DA out of the water. But I don't see that fact drawing me back nearly as much, again based on story.
Now, the general public is likely to eat it up regardless. But I do not believe it will feel the same way about this as it did about Potter. As someone else already pointed out, no one is going to cry tears of joy upon seeing the place. And aside from a few of the more outrageous groups, I do not see people dressing up or purchasing costumes from the land specifically. Thes statements can be applied to the land over and over.
In the end I honestly feel like our comparisons are always flawed, but here it just feels very stark for me. It can be as realistic and amazing as anything. But at the end of the day I'm gonna be hitting up a world I love. Star Wars is what I can see myself returning to many times if it's done right and that is far off. Pandora just isn't that kind of land for me.

To match the pure joy of walking through the wall and seeing DA in real life, Disney could never...

Even Star Wars land wont have the same effect as it will be all original minus the Millenium Falcon

Honestly, I feel VB's volcano will be more compelling to me, but I've been wrong before
