There doesn't seem to be anything acutually holding you in. Would anyone just be able to get up and walk off the ride. The fact that there seems to be no back support is making me think it's going to be really tame.

I imagine it's likely to be done in the way Zamperla Disk'O Coaster's do it, with a restraint that raises up from the base of the seat to hold you in - I'd just assume that in these images the restraint isn't closed.

I believe this will be Disney's first attraction with a test seat in front of it. Expect it to not fit all body sizes...

Going back to Avatar 2 for a quick second... There are 11 more months in 2019 besides December to release a movie you guys realize, right?

I know Avatar saw a lot of success in December, but it doesn't mean they are locked into that month. If Star Wars now owns that month, Cameron and Fox are forced to change.

Typically you release in December to make the opening numbers and have it fresh for the Oscar votes

Given how many delays have happened, I think the last month of the year doesn't sound unrealistic.

December films have long legs which is part of why they tend to rank in the most money as January is usually reserved for random films that don't fit the blockbuster mold. Its also the time most people have disposable income due to the holidays and have time off. Fox wants Avatar in December and most likely won't move even against Star Wars.

The three biggest grossing movies of all time were in December. If given no other choice, they would move it, but I'd suspect they'd fight for it. They put Avatar in the Summer, and you are pretty much capping it at that 4-500 million domestic gross. And thats assuming there is still enough demand to get those numbers. In December, the sky is the limit.

December opening numbers usually aren't as spectacular. Star Wars was huge, but Avatar isn't even in the top 50 top opening weekends. December is all about doing big numbers for weeks at a time while there is still early demand. There is less competition and its cold outside unlike the Summer movie season, so people look for things to do inside. Also, between the Christmas and New Year holidays, a lot of people are off work and school. Traditionally, the Summer Season was when you did blockbusters, but that mold has been broken. There are so many big movies in the summer, that its harder to do the massive numbers that Avatar and Star Wars expect. The question is, will more studios start putting bigger movies into the Christmas window or will the fear of getting crushed by Star Wars prevent that.

A lot of it comes down to how many screens you can get initially and be able to reserve over a period of time. If you're up against a Star Wars movie or opening in the summer when a lot of big blockbusters are running every week, it's tough to get that number of screens dominance. And, if you don't get the screens, you can't achieve the really big numbers.

Star Wars 9 is releasing in May 2019, so I doubt that'll worry them. Infact it'll likely entertain a November/December release more.

I'm assuming the next step will be waiting on soft openings.

That would be cool. I'm scheduling a day second week of May in AK(since I bought one of those 4 day/4 parks WDW tickets). If I'm lucky, it'll be open. I won't wait hours for one of the two rides, but I'd like to walk through it in the evening. I think it will look great in the night. During the day it should be pretty too, but it looks kind of like the other trails in the AK park, with some artificial plants mixed in with the real ones. So not that big of a deal for me in the daylight.

Dave's an avid birdwatcher , so I would guess it's a little birdie....seriously, he's usually pretty close with his time frames, within a week or two. :)

That's my thinking for when I visit. It's hard to tell if it's going to be busier during the day or night. The rides are inside so it doesn't really matter but I think if you want the full effect, a night time visit is a must.
