How so? If you're talking about 3D without glasses that'll be the spinning white sets with projection mapping and blank featured sets with projection mapping.

Oh boy. Family friendly doesn't mean it's focused on those under 18.

Hence Star Wars Land, Tower of Terror, Rock N Rollercoaster, Toy Story Land, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, no? I agree not everything should be child focused. However, there's a heck of a lot there that appeals to the adult generation and apart from Disney Junior - not a lot that is essentially based on things kids today will recognise.

For the record, I'm 35 and I love the new Mickey shorts. Most notably 'cause they're actually funny. I love funny cartoons, which is something Mickey hasn't really done in like 75 years, so I'm all for this version in a new attraction.

Just got back from WDW yesterday after a vacation and moving in my son for Fall DCP. Got to ride both UoE and GMR before they closed and my son and I both got the shirts for each ride.
I do agree with most above that both of these rides were very dated and without much $$ being infused they were both just "nostalgia" driven attractions. Has anyone confirmed that the last UoE ride E-Stop was on purpose? We were there first thing Saturday morning and the attraction was having issues even at opening so I'm not sure if it was planned or not.

Also, referencing the discussion on JC above, while I do enjoy the ride, I never go without FP because I cannot justify the wait for this one, and this was the first time I have ridden it where the skipper was really awful and it ruined our trip. The girl was so loud and high pitched and quick that she was actually intelligible. I'm not sure if the audio on the boat was also to blame, but we got off the boat and everyone was commenting on how bad the trip was. This ride definitely needs some TLC and training.

Everything I heard was saying a battery issue caused the ride to stop. It had issues all day because they were running the center theater cars for more capacity, which haven't been used in years, and I'm thinking the system was more overloaded than it had been in a LONG time. That's all.

Interesting.... I think we had the first ride on Saturday morning and they were only running the four side vehicles (not the two center ones). Like I said, they were showing the ride as closed but we queued up and they let everyone in not too long after rope drop

Oh yea, Saturday was not running the center. They only opened the center cars on the final day, Sunday, I believe.

I dont think the stop on Energy was intentional because of where it stopped - on twitter you can find pics of the second to last show, which was returning to Theater 1 when it stopped. Its rear vehicles are over the door.

Vehicles over doors are the most dangerous thing in Energy, multiplied by being under the theater 2 screens (which they were also) putting those guests in the most dangerous position in the ride.

I'll hop over to the Energy thread to explain further.

Martin is now estimating the length of the ride will not be the rumored 7-8 minutes, but something in the neighborhood of 5 minutes. I’m shocked (shocked!) that the budgetary hatchet men have apparently already gone to work on this…

Needless to say, I don’t think that’s a terribly efficient usage of the space, but it is what it is.

Yeah, I was a bit bummed when I heard that. I was looking forward to this ride being longer than the norm for a modern ride. I really need to see some more concept art of this ride just to keep me from getting to down on it.

I'm still excited for the concept and I like the animation style, but cutting 2-3 minutes from a theme park ride is a long time. And this building is huge too, could've probably fit multiple attractions in there tbh. A smaller Fantasyland C-ticket with a different entrance likely would fit, but alas...

That fits with the new rumors of hacking away the back portion of the show building to make room for more Star Wars later.

Is that a possibility? I mean... I honestly wouldn't mind it if they hacked at it seeing as the indoor space would just be going towards the world's largest attraction exit gift shop anyway. Plus, the GMR is so huge, it would actually be nice to open up some space a bit if it's not going to be used for the MMRR ride.

Again, not ideal in that the Mickey ride is less than we'd hoped it to be, but if they are smart they will hack away so that the space isn't going to waste.

I've heard recently that a third Star Wars ride goes in the middle of the new land across from the other two. Back section of Great Movie Ride gets demolished and backstage area gets pushed back into newly created space, allowing more room for third attraction.

I could be mistaken, but I believe DL already has the space, so this was part of the calculation of closing GMR for a smaller ride.

Was going to play the wait and see game before declaring this as fact though. Once we see some demo we'll know for sure.

Regardless, it has always been the plan to convert unused portions of GMR building to backstage, I just figured inside storage or something. But recently rumors have turned to actual demo of back section.

I thought there was already going to be an expansion pad in place, is this one that was talked about or will be there two pads?

This could've changed as it was awhile ago I heard it, but most insiders were saying that the expansions space in DHS' SWL will only be enough to house more shops and restaurants.

Depending on where the hotel goes, they could also have that triangle of land behind it between World Drive and the park entrance road.

I think this action would make Orlando's pad in the same place and around same size as DL's pad. At least in theory.

Food for thought...

Energy already has hammers and such going at it. The next day Epcot had a new park map with Energy removed.

No sign of work at Great Movie Ride. The park still hasn't updated the map.

I get the impression they had planned the GMR -> Mickey thing, but not to announce it at D23 and close a month later.

They could be quietly (and carefully) packing up things into boxes over at GMR.

We hear noise at UoE cause they're just slaughtering it all with sledgehammers.

GMR has a large amount of animatronics and setpieces that are worth preserving and it may take some time to excavate them all out. UOE has the dinosaurs but that's it, meaning it's probably easier to :saw:.
