Sometimes my brain doesn't work - what exactly would we consider a list of "Universal's IPs" ...?

I feel most everything is another company until Universal signs a contract - outside of stuff like the Kong/Jaws/Mummy/Frankenstein stuff.

"Smokey and the Bandit" family launch coaster confirmed!

Jesus Christ, that would be the greatest thing ever!

Hell, just put "Eastbound and Down" as a secret track on RRRocket, and I'd die giggling.

But seriously... does a Snow White and the Huntsman feel like it could be a quality river ride to anyone else?

- Is DELICIOUSLY obvious
- & TROLLS Disney?

Edit: I read into the Disney thing. Could make it Madagascar now that the licensing is under Universal.

I don’t- I mean, I guess almost anything could be quality if they put the effort and money into it.

I’m going to go out and say I’d prefer it to be Shrek. So much potential and tongue in cheek jabs at Disney they could do with that sarcastic ogre, donkey- and really, all the fairy tale characters.
And a swamp ride lends itself perfectly to it.

One reason it might be Shrek is that Universal seems to be waiting on the Shrek reboot (possibly for the new park if it's not an actor issue).

I know Disney was concerned about Cameron delaying Avatar sequels to the point where the Pandora Land came out 4 years before the next movie since that hurt public awareness. The original plan was for there to be sequels around 2016-2018 to build awareness around the combined movies-park Avatar enterprise.

Universal won't want to end up in that situation. (Same may end up being true of Kung Fu Panda with respect to Universal Beijing which I'd expect to get a new movie around 2022 or 2023 and worldwide premiere at that park).

A 4th park with a Dreamworks land seems like a no brainer. I mean just look at the HTTYD ride in the UAE that's on par with what one would expect from Universal at its own park that we have discussed. Here is the Madagascar based dark coaster that wouldn't take too much more plussing

And there's whole host of flats they could theme up.

They are geared to kids

That's why Dreamworld went with a B&M family suspended coaster for their area
Madagascar Madness | Dreamworld

Besides the Mack Dragon Gliders uses screenz, a perfect fit for Uni. Just make it 3D. I love 5he idea of the indoor plaza that both ride take a peek at about half through their cycle because of heat, and rain issues in Florida. Dreamworks is all about preteens and especially younger. I'd love to see much more done with the Minions.

Let's not forget Far Far Away in Singapore

You can aim for kids and not be cheap/lame. The Dubai rides just aren't up to Universal standards.

The boat ride is a MegaE-Ticket family friendly ride into Shrek's Swamp with tons of making fun of Disney.

The ride itself is a no brainer for the new park, given the fate of Shrek at the Studios.

What cracked me up is the ambitious facade and the location in the park.

Remeber though, they are still hammering things out, and playing plug and play with different concepts. They are pretty solid on the IPs they are working with, but where to put them all is the game. A couple of plots at USF/IOA still need filled and a whole newbpark.

DHX Media Puts Itself Up for Sale | Animation Magazine

DHX Media put itself up for sale after a disappointing quarter.

Worth noting that they're perhaps the last large independent owner of children's content: 80% of Peanuts, Teletubbies, Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, etc. They own one of the largest troves of children's content out there, so it'll be interesting to see whether someone bites.

Comcast or Disney are the two most obvious buyers if they want to add all of that to their animation businesses (and there might be some theme park implications). Dreamworks (now Comcast owned) has a major output deal with DHX that started 2 years ago, so Comcast may want to take DHX Media to prevent others from getting their content, and Universal did just rebrand a kids cable channel. Disney used to own/partner with DIC (one of the precursors to DHX) on Inspector Gadget among other things, but now they'd have a reason to possibly consider going back for DHX for their eventual streaming service.

Maybe Netflix or another streaming service may want it. Either way, will be worth following; the price should be somewhere around $750-900 million for the stock ($1.5 billion including debt).

My Little Pony is one as well.
Peanuts, Cedar Park has, but it's a pretty crappy theme park IP IMO.

Care Bears is ripe for a re-brand

No Chance Disney jumps on this. The shows dont work for them and they are fine w/o. Uni and Dreamworks seem like a good fit though- in particular with all the girl shows.

As for Netflix- that'd be my guess. But Hulu is on the upswing as well, and I'd never discount Amazon.

Maybe, they build a castle in Far Far Away land and build Peach's castle in USF and they can claim to have a castle in every one of their parks unlike their neighbours down the road.
