I always thought the obvious common denominator for the next park is the concept of time (i.e. Jurassic is prehistoric, Zelda games deal with time travel, various DreamWorks movies like Croods deal with historic setups, Star Trek is way into the future, Middle Earth/LOTR has ancient earth themes, Fantastic Beasts is setup in "past" Harry Potter world).

The question is what represents "time"? And how to build a hub around that. A mountain could be timeless; I know others have mentioned something like a Universal Mountain of sorts. But it's just hard because time is such a nebulous concept.

Ohhh...a fancy clocktower with a time travel drop tower in it.

Money please, Universal Creative.

Yep they do, but it's so limited with just in East Coast, USA. I want them to have something like that to flex their muscles internationally and also without the Mouse's approval. I'm not going to lie and say that I read through that Bible of contract but doesn't Disney get to have some say so of approval (within reason) for attractions Universal builds concerning Marvel?

Yes. But they have to be reasonable, so as long as it's a good ride, they can't really say no.

Cool. It's just my inner fan wanting Universal to have another drop in their bucket to choose from and I think that this would give them a stronger match up against Disney without Disney giving their unwanted (yet sadly required) permission.

If we go with Time as the theme, a clock-tower, hour-glass, or sundial is your icon.

But I still don’t think Time (or Timelessness) is the theme. The theme is the Journey:

LOTR - Journey across Mordor to destroy the ring (Journey to Defeat Evil)
NINTENDO - Journey across Mushroom Kingdom/Hyrule/Pokémon region in order to save a princess/catch them all (Journey to Save)
MARVEL - A literal hero’s journey (Journey to Become)
ILLUMINATION - Journey of family (a theme in Illumination films)
STAR TREK - Journey to explore
DREAMWORKS - Journey to Feel (Humor in Shrek, Strength in Panda, Adrenaline in Dragon)
FANTASTIC BEASTS - Journey Across our World

And Japan as well, since Universal Studios Japan operates the Spider-Man ride since 2004.

Disney has no say in it though, since the 1994 contract is still between Marvel Entertainment and Universal Studios Orlando and Japan. Hell, Universal just recently amended the 1994 contract to prevent Disney from ensuring if Marvel is properly paid for being used in its major theme park rival. It's the same reason why Disney has to honor the contract between Sony and Marvel regarding the film rights to Spider-Man and between Fox and Marvel regarding the film rights to X-Men and F4. Otherwise, the Mouse will be strolling through the courts trying to justify why they do it.

Based on the concepts and speculation we got today, I'll throw my blue sky idea onto the table. Look under the spoiler tag if you want to see a very lengthy explanation of the very unlikely type of park I'm hoping for.

The park would be called Universal's Wonder Valley. The park’s theme is one of wonder and fantasy, bringing to life whimsical worlds full of life and magic. The centerpiece of the park is Wonder Mountain, a large, vibrant, beautiful mountain that towers over the entire park. The park is comparable to Tokyo Disneysea, in that it contains several extremely hyper-themed lands based off beautiful vistas.

nFiQx1Cr6NUUdyEU7B1xnUcgIzupgkgRkqvAoNBMzMvAj-xT8ULrsbaxeCYBEzV9RrfxqUjl6wX07SJScVR-k14J0qRYu_kpRi55bh_sjXqAIUx5LEnSsRArhmdHCktmkP34CkD8

Wonder Mountain would look similar to this, however with a more distinct, iconic, and vibrant design.

The whole park would be aiming for that similar feel to TDS, having lands that are immersive, detailed, atmospheric, and beautiful to look at. The park's seven lands would include:
  • Wonder Valley - The opening area to the park, with the look of a humble, mountainside village. It'd be cute, homey, and lead up to the inside of the huge mountain. In a unique twist, the park's MK-style hub will actually be on the inside of the mountain. Guests can explore the interior caves, full of colorful, shiny crystals, before going out into the lands.

  • DreamWorks Point - The park's prime area for families, and the first one guests visit if they go in a counterclockwise order. The area features mini-areas based off the DreamWorks properties of Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, as well as a few smaller spots based off other IPs. Guests can explore a small portion of Far Far Away and Shrek's Swamp, ride the family coaster Far Far Away Express, as well as go on the huge, e-ticket water ride Shrek's Fairytale Tour, that takes guests on an irreverent and goofy river cruise through the world of Shrek. Guests can also check out a small portion of the Valley of Peace, featuring the interactive dark ride Kung Fu Panda: Defenders of Awesomeness, as well as the teacup attraction Mr. Ping's Noodle Bowl Spin and Mr. Ping's Noodle Shop itself. Besides these two mini-lands, there's also an area featuring a Trolls dance party and gift shop for young children, and an expansion pad for any future successful DWA properties.

  • J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World: Europe - Moving on, the third Wizarding World to join a Universal park is based off the 1920s' Europe depicted in the Fantastic Beasts sequels. The area is themed to 1920s' Paris and features a variety of themed shopping and dining, and most importantly, a Fantastic Beasts e-ticket indoor coaster. This attraction uses plot elements and set-pieces from the sequels, however the queue for the attraction is the interior of Newt's iconic briefcase. This area is actually relatively small in comparison to the other Wizarding Worlds and the other lands in the park, but has a decent amount of expansion room for future attractions based off future locations and plot points in the franchise.

  • Middle-Earth - The marquee new world of Wonder Valley is the first-ever theme park representation of Middle-Earth. One of the biggest theme park lands ever at over 20 acres, this area recreates the stunning landscapes, the amazing atmosphere, and the exciting adventures of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit series. Iconic areas included in this expansion are the Shire, featuring a simple family indoor and outdoor carriage ride called Gandalf's Firework Festival, Rivendell, which features the thrilling kuka dark ride e-ticket Lord of the Rings: Flight of the Eagles, and Mordor, which features a next-gen drop ride past the level of ToT, Dark Tower of Mordor.

  • Super Nintendo World: Zelda's Kingdom - In this park’s version of Super Nintendo World, instead of exploring the world of Mario, guests discover the world of the Legend of Zelda. Guests can pass through the iconic Hyrule Field and enter Hyrule Castle Town, which features a large variety of themed shopping and dining. The area's main attraction can be found inside the Temple of Time, with The Legend of Zelda: Battle for Hyrule, a thrilling, but family friendly dark ride mixing together trackless ride vehicles, unique interactivity, and large sets based off iconic locales from the Zelda series. Guests can also watch The Legendary Story of Zelda, a large-scale live show that retells the epic story of Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and the Triforce, as well as enter the Lost Woods, a unique walk-through maze attraction.

  • Pokemon Park - Next up in the valley is a land based off the land of Pokémon; despite being a Nintendo property, the area doesn’t use the Super Nintendo World moniker, to distinguish it from the Zelda area. However, the area is still extremely packed with things to do and locations from Pokémon games. With an aesthetic based off the first four generations, guests can walk around a Route, a town, and a Safari Zone, all of which are inhabited by dozens of Pokémon animatronics. Attractions-wise, there's the e-ticket Pokémon Snap Safari that takes guests straight into wild Pokémon habitats for a photo safari, as well as a spinner based off several flying Pokémon called Flight of the Pokémon and a whip ride based off mount Pokémon called Wild Pokémon Spin. One of the area's key, unique attractions is an experience that essentially combines technology used in Turtle Talk with Crush, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Jedi Training Academy, and Ollivanders to recreate the experience of choosing a Pokémon starter and battling against a trainer.

  • Jurassic World - The final area in the park is a recreation of the fictional jungle vacation resort of Jurassic World. The park looks just as it does in the films, full of interesting activities to check out, attractions to ride, and animatronic dinosaurs to admire. The area features the two large-scale attractions: The Jurassic World Gyrosphere Experience, a state-of-the-art mega e-ticket using never-before-seen technology in mixture with animatronics and projections. The other large-scale attraction is The Flying Dinosaur - similar in concept to the attraction in Japan, but this time with an aviary facade that the large steel inverted coaster weaves in and out of. Besides these attractions, there's also the Jurassic World Innovation Center to explore the inside of, Dinosaur Training, stage show using puppetry and live actors to educate and entertain guests, and Camp Jurassic.

Yeah, I was just thinking that journey might be too similar to adventure (IoA) since a journey is basically a linear adventure of sorts, but I can see why you used that to tie them together.

I like that idea... time. A bit close for comfort, might be a station. A grand phantasmical station where we all can choose different modes of transport through time and place.

So, would the station also be the name of the park? What would be the name of the lead through area towards the station be? Would transport be all of the previously mentioned?

Just had a weird thought...Universal can keep them both? lol Bring both fandoms to their parks.

Take DC to the 4th park.

If Six Flags were to give away their rights to DC, it’ll probably destroy their revenue as a large part of their somewhat success comes from DC related merchandise.

They don’t have to give away their rights completely. If Six Flags have no interest in Orlando, I don’t know if it would be possible or not for them to extend their license to Universal. They’d probably want something hefty for it though.

It could be something that Warner might be interested in given the success of Potter.

Hmm... this new park will likely feature dinosaurs, beasts, Pokemon, dragons, talking animals, and misc. magic creatures. They're all some sort of animals or creatures... How about we name the park... Beastly Kingdom? What a nice, original name. ;)

Not to be the downer here, but isn't 7 properties quite a bit unrealistic considering how they create lands now?
Our two most recent examples domestically were- IoA with 5 (excluding entrance) DAK with 3 (3.5 if you include where pandora is now) even DCA had 4 or 5- no clue how to even count the areas in that original cluster F.

With how parks used to be, several of those could have been in "combined" lands. How they are now- with HP changing the narrative- people will expect dedicated areas. In particular when it comes to LoTR and Star Trek. FB can't really get combined unless its incorporated into a European town that could carry over to something else.
Dreamworks and Illumination can be catch alls or incorporate multiple mini-lands within them. Same with Nintendo.
Marvel would be interesting to say the least- both it or Jurassic World free up their spaces at IoA (although if they are going to tear down those areas anyway after park 4's new updated lands- why not just tear them down at IoA and update there?)

I say all that to say- that's way too many IPs and lands- no need to try beat ourselves up trying to incorporate them all into one park, as the park almost assuredly wont have 8 dedicated areas (including entrance) on opening day (or potentially ever).
With JUST that list, and just adding 1 more IP (Say Jurassic World) - you're looking at two full fledged parks.
