Six Flags Magic Mountain

Can't wait for the official announcement from SFMM at the end of August for 2019! So far we're expecting:

1. New Coaster-West Coast Racer
2. New Flat-Maxxxxxxx Force
3. Redone Cyclone Bay
4. Retheme to Apocalypse

I'm expecting a surprise, but not sure what that would be. I know the surprise for last year was the switch to 365 day schedule. That was a game-changer.

The surprise, is that it's the largest investment of money into a Six Flags park domestically, since Tatsu (21 million).

So I'm now receiving conflicting info. On one end is West Coast Racer is the new coaster with Maxx Force being the new flat, but the other end is Maxx force (XX= 20th Coaster) and West Coast Racer is the new Apocalypse retheme.

Are they going to retheme Apocalypse? I remember the park spending a good amount of money on the theming alone when it was Terminator.

I haven't heard of a retheme for it. But they also haven't had the fire blast effect or tunnel fog-mist for quite a while. Its a "wait and see". I'll ask around, but I think it all really comes down to what the NEW coaster does as far as theme goes. When they redid Colossus, they did very little with Scream. But that also didn't have a pre-existing theme.

Glad to see them wanting to do bigger coasters.
I'm down to make a friendly bet. $10?
Sure. :) Time Traveler cost $25-$27 mil. This will cost $20 mil. and that was from the Mack video.
True. But I'm meant a surprise as in like something new they're doing. Maybe upgrading or refurbing an older ride like Viper.
I see that as something they would do next year. That seems like a perfect filler for next year.

I'm going for the latter. There's no way WCR is going to be the new coaster. That sounds too generic and uninspired for the 20th coaster. Sounds perfect for Apocalypse. Maxx Force sounds like 20th coaster material right there, not a flat.

Yup. Gonna have a racing theme as well to fit the theme.

Park Journey is covering the CraZanity media day.

EDIT: Demolition is going on, as it seems they are holding off on the side of Cyclone Bay that's with Apocalypse until now.

That said, Apocalypse, IS closed.

If this Mack Spinner is going to be 6 million dollars cheaper than Time Traveler, how will the park turn this into a hyper coaster & market it is as the best? In reality, it's actually cheaper than the coaster in Silver Dollar City.

I don't believe the video explicitly said 20$ Mil, but it is in that range, it's just impossibly hard to hear over the translation. For reference Alex and I heard something around $24 mil while others heard 20/21$.

Hmmm...If only someone on here knew French to give us an accurate translation.

I'm curious to see if the Mack Spinner will garner as much enthusiasm from the GP and media attention like Steel Vengeance did. My concern is that since Time Traveler literally just opened this year in March, it won't quite grab the same headlines due to the coaster coming in second. The media will just bill it as a taller Time Traveler. Nothing groundbreaking.

We'll see.

Yea I was way too lazy to get my butt up to the park this morning for the CraZanity hoopla (but thats what youtube was invented for)

I did get a few pics while there though...

Ride Porn... Enjoy...

THOUGHTS: The ride is fun like a typical basic swinging ship. The spinning is not excessive, its more like a mild rotation. Nothing "crazy". It provided a nice view of certain areas (yes, I was THAT guy, while on the ride I was surveying the area for future expansion possibilities haha). I did notice however that when the ride would swing upwards, when it was about to swing down it would shudder a little. As if its doing something unnatural. THAT made me raise my eyebrow a little. Another annoyance is that if you pay attention, you'll notice there will occasionally be an empty seat or two. They really need a single riders line (for everything) so that each seat is filled or do a proper count.

They gave out these buttons to those that rode this new ride... it also celebrates pride unintentionally

Once again Six Flags has failed to supply any sort of comfort via fans/misting-fans like Universal/Disney... Thankfully, CraZanity provides at least SOME form of breeze during operation.

Took a spin on "Jammin' Bumpers" as well today. The cars are comfy, but clearly came from the UK because the steering wheel & pedal are on the right instead of left. Unlike Bumper Cars of the old days, no head on collisions allowed, only side/rear. You can only drive in one direction around the circle. It wasn't terrible & i got my bumps in so I was content lol.

I will say though, Six Flags failed with this missed opportunity. The whole nightclub style lighting is great, but it doesn't exactly work very well in the daytime.. I've seen these "Disco Bumper Cars" elsewhere and they did it correctly. Six Flags failed by not enclosing this to make it darker (and filled with A/C). Its enjoyable, but they didn't make the small extra effort.

Gotta love the non-mesh open view...

Just went on CraZanity. Good ride. Glad to see another descent non-coaster ride in the Park. Left after riding that, JL, Superman, and Jet Stream as it was getting too hot and too crowded...plus Twisted was closed for the day. Booooo

How's JL doing these days? Might visit next sunday, been a while.

speaking of Superman... I did notice yesterday they are FINALLY once again operating BOTH sides of the track instead of only the left side. In other news, it was VERY dead yesterday, when I got there at 1pm... Full Throttle had zero wait. I actually waited longer for CraZanity than I did Full Throttle, Viper, Revolution, & Jammin Bumpers...

Its decent.. screens are hit or miss. Animatronics are great. However, it seems to have a lot of down time here/there.

Superman did reopen both sides but a following visit I noticed the side that was closed (right) had the train stuck in the middle of the track again. It seems that side is still having trouble.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Honestly, I feel like everything is having issues lately. When I rode Revolution yesterday, the entire time I had this thought of- "All this time it was closed and we couldn't repaint the track? Repaint the trains? Why can't we have nice things!?"

I think the track on Revolution is fine but the state of the trains is ridiculous. Scratches everywhere, peeling paint, and those weird poorly glued black squares (VR?) on the back of the headrests ruin the appearance.
