Let's play being head of Universal Creative...

Ok gonna give this a shot even though "armchair imagineering" can be annoying. Haha

So this timeline is based off the seemingly current state of Universal. This timeline is adjustable, the frame is based off if things started to get back to normal early next year. This plan focuses primarily on locals, passholders, and fans. It is also not completely creative based, some is related to management. My goal is to make the current parks the best they can be. Before the start of the timeline I listed some more general ideas that I do not have a specific date in mind.
  • Special events
    • Potter Trick or Treat
    • Potter Christmas Stamp Rally
    • Treehouse of Horror Decorations or Celebration for Simpsons
    • Some type of food festival?
    • Celebration of Retro Universal
    • Events based around movies?
    • Expansion of all yearly events(Mardi Gras, HHN, ETC)
  • Ride Layovers
    • Christmas overlay for Fallon or DM
    • Treehouse of Horror overlay for Simpsons Ride
Timeline: The New Ten Year Plan, For The Fans

  • Epic Universe is put on an indefinite hold in its current form. To be reimagined with a blue sky opening date of 2030.
    • Research is put into preventative pandemic measures for Epic and the current parks. Planned non-invasive protocols that can put in place in case of any disease outbreak.
  • Prioritize holding on to employees by making temporary changes to park procedures. Hopefully the most drastic of these would be reversed by years end. These procedures would be phased out when the time is right.
    • Hours are shifted to focus more on passholders and locals.
    • The parks close two days a week.
    • Number of shows a day decreased.
    • Attractions open on rotating basis.
    • Expensive effects turned off (Fire, etc).
2021
  • Hopeful reverse of most drastic economic procedures.
  • Jurassic World Coaster opens in the Spring.
    • Jurassic World themed future of the land seems to become certain

I like your thoughts! Thanks for contributing :) I also always feel I totally lose it at the end of these posts so I get that lol, but that being said......

2021: Velocicoaster, open back up at least 3 of their hotels, new Universal Citywalk Store opens at the end of the summer, or right before/during HHN. Kidzone closes in March alongside the opening of VC, construction on SNW begins. At the latest, construction begins after HHN so space used for that can be relocated. Epic Universe is delayed indefinitely for the time being.

2022: With a hopefully brief upswing in the economy and the health of Americans and international travel being relatively safe, hopefully this is more of a $$$ maker year for the resort. New quick service opens in place of current Universal Studios Store in Citywalk, opening late summer/early fall. River Adventure opens in the spring/summer, with the JW re-do/revamp. Full finale scene, hopefully SOME new AAs, and they now market this area as "Jurassic World". The Jurassic World marketing they can use for all of 2021 and 2022. All hotels are back open and fully operational.

2023: I don't see anything opening in this year. Possibly something new at citywalk, but I just don't see it. The "Cool The Night" parade would be great to add to USF in the meantime for this summer. Again, a rebound year for Universal. Hopefully more tourism to help profits, and deals for locals to keep them coming back even if there isn't a ton of "new" at the resort.

2024: SNW opens its first phase in Orlando and opens exactly as Japan does now, without DK. Save DK for later, get people back here and spending money.

2025: Early in the year, if business is steady from SNW and future prospects look solid, I would invest again but not in EU yet. I think EU is a risk at this point, as I think they need several years of proof of sustainability and marketshare after Covid to invest in fully expanding their resources amidst themselves. For this investment? Im not sure. I think there are several ways to go:
-SLOP replaces Shrek. Pets will forever be a sell, even if the IP is less of that. A good ride is always a good ride
- HTTYD replaces TL. Idk if the land is large enough, but if it is, DO IT. Adds a needed show and a kids area to the park that isn't from 1999.
- Ministry replaces MIB/FF plot. Albeit, likely the most expensive option.

Personally, id go with HTTYD. But they will likely choose Potter. So hypothetically, Ministry construction begins early 2025. Also begin work on DK Country expansion for SNW in January of this year.

2026: Epic Universe construction resumes, with 3/4 lands being replaced. The new park will feature Classic Monsters (Frankenstein's Village), Pokemon (Kanto), Trolls (?), SpongeBob, and Zelda. Zelda resides where Potter/FB currently is, KFP next to it, and Trolls where HTTYD was going to be. Pokemon goes to SNW slot. Construction ALSO begins on KFP at IOA, replacing Lost Continent.
DK Country opens at USF in August of 2026.

2027: Ministry of Magic opens with the main E ticket, possible Deloris Umbridge Ford Anglia attraction with a show as well. TL closes for replacement.

2028: KFP opens at IOA in place of Lost Continent, Mythos never closes. At this point, Id love to think theres enough $$$ to invest in 1 more hotel, but I doubt. Maybe expand Endless Summer even more?

2029: HTTYD opens at IOA in place of Toon Lagoon. Full plans from Epic Universe are here, including the stage show. Entrance to land is relocated towards the front of the lagoon.

2030: Epic Universe opens, with 5 lands and relatively the same Hub that is currently rumored. The lands, from left to right (or as we all know it, SNW to clockwise to HTTYD), Pokemon, Classic Monsters (w/Creature boat ride), Zelda, SpongeBob, and Trolls.

Thats all I got. This is not only my hope, but what I think is a relatively great outlook for the parks. This may not be realistic but this sort of timeline is the best hope for future stuff.

In thinking..Imma go with a new version, with EU revised. (Going up to 2027

2021
- Velocicoaster opens up by Memorial Day 2021
- Dockside opens at a close time--with a more proper ad campaign for coming to Universal Orlando Resort.
- Kidzone and ET closes. ET will not close permanently however, as it would be closed for the sake of construction materials for Super Nintendo World.
- Shrek 4-D closes at the end of 2021, to make way for a version of DreamWorks Theater (with a custom film based off of Trolls: World Tour, to differentiate from the Hollywood version)
- The original Universal Studios Store and Hot Dog Hall of Fame closes, making way for a new "Brunch" dining spot.

2022
- DreamWorks Theater opens, is the prodominent "New" addition of Universal's dry parks for 2022.
- Renovations for Hard Rock Hotel would be underway, adding more "Modern" and "Technological" elements to the resort property.
- ET would reopen, with a revised entrance and facade. No new changes to the story would be made--but with the exception of updating the animatronics due to age.

2023
- Super Nintendo World opens, in Phase 1 (Mario Kart and Yoshi), Donkey Kong reserved for a Phase 2, ala Osaka
- Jurassic Park: River Adventure would close in Labor Day of 2023, for a renovated Jurassic World River Adventure
- Fast and Furious Supercharged is shuttered completely, for a 2025 attraction with the interior gutted.
- A flagship Nintendo Orlando store would open at Universal Citywalk--replacing Bubba Gump's around the time of SNW's launch

2024
- Jurassic World River Adventure opens, with the entirety of Jurassic Park renamed as Jurassic Park: Isla Adventura. New cosmetic and theming changes would be added to unify that and Velocicoaster. New arches would be added to separate Hogsmeade and Skull Island from Jurassic World, similar to Universal Beijing's arches than that of the Universal Hollywood arch.
- Volcano Bay opens a new expansion, with the new slide tower consisting of a custom-layout racers slide.
- A clone of Universal Spectacle begins operations at USF. Nothing much changed from that version to this, with the exception of an addition of a Trolls or Mario float.
- A hotel is added to the Southern property, beginning work for Universal to begin development again on the EU park more "properly"

2025
- Fast and Furious Turbocharged arrives to Universal Studios Florida as the "keynote" attraction. EMV style Dark Ride (similar to Spider-Man/Jurassic World Beijing with moving props, screens, and effects. Based off of Hobbs and Shaw, with little involvement from Vin Diesel.
- Epic Universe begins to resume development. It wouldn't be announced until it breaks ground
- Ground breaks in Early 2025 for Donkey Kong Country

2026
- Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong Country reopens.
- Islands of Adventure would get a new nighttime show (ala Fantasmic from Tokyo Disney), with expanded seating added for Seuss Landing, the future LC replacement, and Port of Entry, all connected together.

2027
- Ground is officially broken on Epic Universe (and to say.. Universal Monsters, Pokemon, Warner Bros (Potter or LoTR) and Berk)

The thoughts come primarily from that of how they would respond, if EU is off the table. To that, the answer is simple: Cheap additions that could be easily pulled and mixed around from their past efforts. Additionally--the "Major" project would be SNW, and depending on if they could get the finances for a Beijing version--for Orlando to get a replacement of Supercharged to match the franchise (dual-budget).

Outside of that, small budgets that can be combined with other facets of the company, such as DreamWorks Theater and Jurassic World.

I LOVE everything you have here, but switch the timelines for the JW River update and Dreamworks theatre. That’s the only change I would make. I think you’re on the money though.

I'm a bit more optimistic that Epic Universe comes earlier in the decade. But this seems reasonable and you didn't get rid of any of IOA's lands so A+.

The plus side if DreamWorks Theater being done sooner in practice--would lie to how easy it could be. They wouldn't even need to change much of the building, with the major rooms only being that of the theaters to tackle.

Combine it with a production at DWA for costs, and it'd be easy as hell to fit in. It wouldn't even be a large project in the grander scheme of it all, compared to Jurassic World River Adventure.

Hello all! Tying to revamp this thread a bit, I know its not as fun predicting stuff these days but hopefully this thread can be a fun distraction.

One thing I've never understood, and the post above shows the layout of USF well, why did Waterworld never come here? In particular, either in the FF plot, or, in between MIB and Simpsons. To be specific to the picture above, where it says "New Enclosed theatre" next to Spongebob, I always thought it'd be a perfect spot for Waterworld. I assume the reason being budgets? Or they want it only in Hollywood? I never really understood it. I can understand spacing issues, as the area Im mentioning I believe is big for HHN, and Waterworld may not fit in FF plot, but it always left me guessing.

Another show here, or putting Waterworld in the TL Theatre would be ideal, likely cheaper than a new land or ride, and if they wanted to do a mini land with some food options to bring in some extra $$$, why not here?

I think Bourne is our substitute for Waterworld.

Not hating on anyone, Coffee, trying to provide a little levity.
Fair, I just didn't feel it came off in great taste, don't think any of us try and act like we are actually experts here anyways even if the thread itself is taken seriously. Just want people to have fun and explore their minds more.

You're welcome to that opinion. For my part, I have no problem with fun speculation - to a point. My issues with armchair imagineering aren't specific to this hobby, but fairly universal to the fanboy syndrome in general, which is why I don't bring them up here - the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

I'm still waiting on UC to run with my million dollar "Rev Gives You A Little Tickle In 3D" hoise idea. It'll print money.
I thought my Worldcraft coaster/land idea in like 2014/2015 was ground breaking lol.

Only thing I've ever thought of that was possibly true was an indoor Bikini Bottom Land but lets not act like that took a lot of creativity here...

I've heard on Theme Park Shark that Land of Awesomeness replaced what was originally supposed to be Bikini Bottom.

Yes, that’s heavily rumored and why I’m proud of it lol. I mean logically, you’re underwater in Bikini Bottom so if they want to try and pull it off “for realz”, making it inside only makes sense.

Like, I wonder if KFP would be inside, or will be inside in possible future versions, but was so because apparently it changed so last minute that everything is essentially KFP layover of Spongebob. KFP looks dope regardless but a curious thought.
