This raises the obvious question then followed by the jar, but...

Beijing costed 6.5-7 billion and Shanghai costed 5.5 billion. Epic Universe is also hovering around that and 7-10 billion (unsure if it goes higher than 7). Why would they need 17 billion for just the four parks?

Considering New Fantasy Land was over a billion dollars, just remember a Disney dollar doesn't go very far...

And it's a fair point to consider, but what if it falls in line to why they were able to convince Bruce Vaughn to come back? Ontop of restructuring WDI to what it was when he was around.

"Parks fans should be excited for the Moana live-action remake. Why? Because it means this artwork is MUCH closer to becoming a reality :grinning:"

I’m guessing Moana at AK, Zootopia at DHS, Indy Ride clone over to Magic Kingdom, and Encanto at Magic Kingdom.

Per usual Epcot will be left out of the fun.

$17 billion, that is a lot of timeshares and hotels and maybe a refurb for the Imagination Pavilion.

Rise reportedly cost a cool $1bn in 2020, so assuming WDW around half of that in new attractions it would be two Rise level attractions per park. Or, what I hope happens, we get lots of various tiers of attractions.

Hey, fool me once I get it. But this is some of the most positive parks news for FL in a long long time.

Don’t mean to harp on Moana, but a land similiar to what Frozen is getting in HKDL, a boat ride, with a coaster, maybe a flat or two, and a well themed restaurant would fit in quite well. Wouldn’t take too much creative spending either if you ask me.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that sounded like a 5th gate. But hopefully it's not.

They have a lot of work to do at the existing parks before ever thinking about adding another. I'm not even sure once all four parks are up to snuff if Orlando could truly handle EIGHT dry parks between just Disney and Universal. People just don't have that kind of vacation time.

I think they could handle it if employee housing became common. Plenty of people are moving to Orlando, it's just a renting issue.

I'm not talking about staffing. I'm talking about the time people have for vacationing. At a certain point, you're just eating away from your own product and that's what I think a fifth park would do. They can do ideas for a fifth park inside the existing four.

$1.7B a year isn’t hugely impressive when you consider how much capital goes into just maintaining everything. Iger is going to throw out as big of a number as possible, not a $17B investment in new guest-facing things at WDW.

A new park at Disney World would be a international event though. It would get attention from all over the globe, drawing more people to the resort. It would increase capacity (which the parks are currently struggling with) and all those ideas that fans are against going to _______ park (like Zootopia in Animal Kingdom) could go to the new park instead.

It would be bigger news than Epic Universe, most people don't even know about it yet lol

But, Disney is struggling to staff the parks properly to accommodate current crowds. A new park would require additional staffing, more buses to run, etc. Its an added cost, and I don't know how they can justify it when DAK can barely keep guests for more than a few hours.
