Not a ton but there's a few, yeah.
Although I know the vfx was purposely made to look like miniatures in a lot of shots. That was the goal.
I'd definitely say that is the highest mark.

The level of immersive atmosphere that is dripping due to how the VFX teams handled things did make it a genuine highlight; gave me heavy James Cameron 80's vibes in how landscapes and environments were done (and I mean that as a genuine compliment).

Visually the film was stunning. The score was great. The cinematography was top tier. I thought the movie took way too long to feel like it had finally begun and then too long to decide when to end. The second act was very good, however.

I was there with a group of six people in total and not one of us actually said we thought it was any better than mediocre, unfortunately. That’s pretty much where I am. I certainly didn’t hate it and thought there was a lot of interesting things there, but the execution wasn’t quite.

I know they were real sets, it just looked like they added some CGI gloss to them.
Ah. Maybe that was just the color grading making you think that? We definitely did not add any CG gloss to them.

Glad to hear you thought it looked good! It was a ton of work but a lot of fun to be a part of.

I really need to see this movie again because while I was critical last night in my immediate thoughts, I will say that after a night of sleep I feel like I’m seeing a lot more of the cool things they did and the positives from this film much more than the negatives.

David Jonsson also earns the breakout star of 2024 (so far) award in my books for his portrayal of Andy. He’s got a very bright career ahead of him.

Yeah - even though the ending didn't stick the landing for me, I appreciate it took the risk.

the ending is freaky but really worked for me. I loved it. i want more freaky stuff like Prometheus did. I also loved the ending of Prometheus
my other problems were with more familiar aspects of the franchise in this . but I still love the movie but I want more experimental stories. I prefer the freaky stuff of Prometheus I want more

My biggest gripe is that it felt "made for trailers / HHN." A lot of those setpieces were admittedly cool, but there was hardly and obstacles, suspense or twists for the characters themselves- very "get main characters from point A-to-B with some exciting visuals" unfortunately.

I liked the movie overall, not as much as I wish I would have, and David Jonsson is definitely a series highlight IMO. I just wish this one was focused more on the atmosphere and tension in a lot of places.
