We have Mako billboards in New Orleans, but I haven't seen any TV spots. Universal's "Vacation Like You Mean It" campaign is all over cable networks. Not sure if it's primarily Comcast channels, but I see them all the time. I see the occasional Disney ad on Travel channel or broadcast network.

Aaaah... Comcast. I am on Time Warner so that might be part of it.

Yeah. Good to see actual numbers. The Tour operator was Pedro Braun, commenting on the WDW shortfalls. His entire comment follows, and it's quite telling. "I am a tour operator owner from Brazil and I can say that all Brazilian operators are going in July with groups at least 70% smaller than last year. My big groups are in July. 4 years ago I had 350 people in my group. Last year I had 150 and this year I only have 43. I am in Orlando right now and never seen so few Brazilians in parks and shopping centers."

Brazilian are BIG shoppers when they come over here. It's going to have much more of an effect on the theme parks, especially Disney, than simply the attendance.

Just read comments from a Brazilian Tour Group operator, on another site. He said that Brazilian Tour Groups for July at WDW, which is their busiest month, are "down" 70% from 2015's numbers.

I'm not losing any sleep over that...

Cox is my cable provider. I was referring to Comcast owned networks like SyFy, E!, USA, Bravo, etc.

I wasn't planning on doing a lot of shopping since the pound crashed but if there's more sales to shift the extra stock, I'll be all over it.

I spent the day a few years back with a woman that came over with an adult Brazilian tour group. We went to Downtown Disney but split up for a while. She got hit on by professional pickup artists. When she said "no english" one said back "you're hot" in Portuguese. She made me promise not to leave her side for the rest of the day.

This is going to hit the other outlet places too. This is not good for Orlando in general. Same with the UK pound dropping. While people will still travel on advance packages they may spend less on food and merchandise. I understand Disney will get hit the hardest, but local businesses and Universal will be hit too.

The pound looks like it's starting to bounce back now that we have some stability because of Theresa May becoming PM tomorrow.

Exactly! I've been reading a lot of posts on other forums which seem to disregard the fact that a lot of internationals, in particular UK visitors, plan these vacations a year, or even two years, in advance. My family and I have a big trip planned next month - we will probably just scale back the spending a little bit. No parks are being cut to save money - internationals tend to buy park hopping tickets for longer periods of time rather than single or 2/3 days admission.

If UK attendance goes down, it will probably be a slow decline over the next couple of years due to ongoing instability. It isn't a drop-off that happens over night.

As it has been discussed in this thread, Brazilians do appear to not be coming in the numbers that we have seen since the early 00's. These numbers will probably be down this summer, but generally this has been a downward trend for the past few years as its economy has lost momentum. I would disagree with some in this thread that the Olympics in Brazil will keep Brazilians at home - this didn't seem to have a huge affect on UK residents when London hosted the Olympics in 2012. It might affect a small number, but not your average Joes who only have a passing interest in Olympic sports.

As someone that is international who has come to the US for holidays one-two times a year for the past 14 years. Universal is the only reason we now continue to make Orlando part of our trip although the duration is continuing to reduce. Once your water parks were a point of difference..now not so much. You need new and different experiences otherwise your stuffed.

What we see with our friends is a general uneasy with the police/gun violence issues in the US which now has a high media profile and the world has becoming more aware of in the past 3-5 years. I love the USA however it is now not perceived as a safe place, rightly or wrongly by many overseas. I do have an interest in a travel company, all our markets are growing except the US. This is the chief reason why we can not get pick up for US tours.

I think I've got a very skewed view of the US. I love the whole culture and the people but I spent 90%+ of my time in International Drive, Universal or Disney and I seldom leave the safety of these areas.

Travelling to Honolulu, Los Angeles and Vegas was a bit eye opening to the reality of some areas in the US.

Very interesting that some think the US is unsafe. Interesting information and perspective you have on this conversation.

The U.S. is unsafe. Foreign countries consider the U.S. so unsafe some governments are warning the citizens to be afraid of even the cops here.

Countries that have 4-5 gun deaths a year think 36,000 violent gun deaths a year to be a titch on the high side.

Wow, there are countries with so few gun deaths a year? That is crazy. I mean I always knew we were doing something wrong with our lax gun laws, but that is just really crazy.
