I mean, I don't blame him? Especially when he apologized, explained why he wouldn't delete them, and Disney stood by him *six years ago*.

I mean, they stood by him last time these tweets surfaced, so they are being hypocrites.

look up the drama behind the movie POWDER and director Victor Salva. that was pretty bad.

Disney hired him even though he was in jail for abusing a boy. that one was even worse. because they guy actually committed a crime.

I get why he never deleted them but with hindsight I'm saying he wished he did. You never know when some mentalist is going to bring it all back up and you might not be so lucky next time.

He's the closest thing Marvel has to Gunn, and it could pave the way for Thor, Valkyrie, and Korg being included in the movie. Plus, I loved Ragnarok.

He's nothing close to Gunn. They're both great directors with wildly different approaches.

I also don't think he'd take the movie. I'd be surprised if anyone of the existing Marvel directors took over for a guy they all seemed to like and work with.

It's all moot, of course, because I won't see the film now.

Also, it's possible that Nicole Perlman will come back (she wrote a lot of Guardians 1, but wasn't involved in Guardians 2).

In fairness, I think everyone was pretty up front about her initial drafts being mostly discarded, except for some of the narrative and plot mechanics. The specific characterizations and humor were all James Gunn.

Guardians 3 should be cancelled, I don’t see any point continuing without Gunn.

I get that impulse. Finding a replacement who can retain Gunn's idiosyncrasies and peculiarities will be tough.

Again, assuming his script won't be used. Gunn as a director is replaceable; Gunn as a writer will be considerably more difficult.

I don't know if this is true, but a video I'm watching says Gunn was linked to someone who was investigated/convicted for child pornography. This might be about more than just the tweets.

I mentioned the guy in an earlier post
director huston huddleston, they were friends. they would retweet each other. make those kind of jokes that Gunn did.
Hutson would send him videos on twitter or retweet Gunn's jokes.

Just because some other director he was on good terms with retweeted some tweets doesn't make him part of some pedophile ring. Sounds like the sort of flimsy connections that were made by the same people for that whole dumb Pizzagate thing. These tweets were clearly just bad, tasteless shock humor.

it doesnt, but it is a weird coincidence. Gunn was making those stupid edgelord jokes and an actual pedophile was actually rejoicing in those jokes, super creepy to think about.

besides, why did Gunn keep making those jokes over and over and over and over and over?
a couple of jokes might be one thing, but several? so many jokes of that nature? thats really weird and creepy too. most normal people dont make jokes like that

I never said these tweets were normal. I'm just cautioning to not allow this to snowball into dumb conspiracy theories based on flimsy evidence and coincidences and turn into the next Pizzagate.

I’ll say this:

I totally get the idea of second chances, particularly when it’s a one time thing (they said something bad in an interview, a lone tweet taken out of context), but there are dozens of tweets and comments that are not only crass, but utterly sickening.

Pedophilia and rape just shouldn’t be joked about, and this guy posted vile and horrific things for years relating to those two topics. It takes a special kind of sickness to normalize these things enough to joke about them in public.

With that said, Disney shouldn’t have hired him in the first place, but they did, so they shouldn’t be firing him now.
