my only complaint about Little Mermaid is its brevity. Haunted Mansion/Pirates/Small World seem EPIC compared. Mermaid is more in line with Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh. Too Short, but sweet.

I agree with this statement. I would not say it is up to Mansion or Pirates status. But I think it competes with Peter Pan and Pooh. Yet I like Peter Pan much more than Pooh.

That's funny because I actually prefer Pooh over Peter Pan. I think the Pooh ride is adorable and the water scene is pretty awesome.

Pooh over PP?

Ok, childish joke, not funny. I know. I know. :)

It is childish but I admit that it made me giggle. :)

I didn't really notice any of this when I rode it. Ar eyou sure you aren't trying to find problems? You can see the building frame work in most of the Diseny dark rides. It's rarely 100% immersive.

As you can in most Universal ones including the much loved FJ

Obviously unless they put a roof in every show scene your going to be able to see everything. But I have to agree, I find that they put a lot of the stuff higher then you (especially in the Under the Sea scene) and when you put stuff up high, and don't put a false ceiling in, you make the catwalks, lighting rigs and roof very obvious. In most other rides you can see this stuff, but you have to look for it, they don't draw your attention to it. Also not nearly as easy to see FJ stuff since its so dark, this ride is BRIGHT.

I'd say the worst one I can think of is Cat in the Hat. The ride feels like you are inside a warehouse building at all times.

Really? You can see it all, but you have to be looking. If your paying attention to the show it shouldn't be an issue.

While the Under the Sea scene is annoying with the obvious show lighting and equipment, by far the worst offender in the ride for me is the transition to Ursula with Flotsam and Jetsam. You're looking straight at bare steel and concrete walls with zero themeing at all for most of the entire room, and it is bright enough to be painfully obvious.

The issue of visual targets in FJ for me is really only an issue in the Whomping Willow scene where if you look past the moving limb you see the ceiling and a light rig. But as said, it is pretty dark so it isn't as big an issue as Little Mermaid. But yes it is the exact same problem. A LOT of Little Mermaids problems would be fixed with better (less) show lighting.

Man, people portray Mermaid as a ride in shambles. I found the ride's theme pretty okay. The exterior and queue were also impressive. Any ride in any park can be nitpicked apart. Nothing is 100% perfect. But when I visit a theme park I'm not looking for perfection, I'm looking for a fun time. Whether it be at a Disney, Universal, or Busch park, I'm usually too caught up in enjoying myself that I don't get bothered by show buildings or lighting fixtures on rides.

my daughter literally screamed in terror when Ursala showed up due to how realistic the AA is. Definitly the highlight of the ride. I just laughed. Does that make me a bad dad? ha ha

I really liked the smaller AA's. The Sebastian AA is very cool. And Scuttle is also well done. THe last Ariel AA has a major problem with her eyes. She looks incredibly baked. She should be holding a bag of Doritos.

I agree with this statement. No ride is perfect and they all have flaws. So enjoy it for what it is. Because I go almost every weekend for my kids, I do however get bored and start looking around for things. And I haven't been on a ride yet that I couldn't find things that looked bad. But before going all the time, I never noticed any of this stuff.

See my problem with that last one was kind the same but with an extra level added on. That scene makes it clear she's 14 and he's 35, and on top of that she looks like she was drugged.

Nice update. I don't care how long it's taking, when complete, I think 7DMT will look amazing. I also can't wait for that path behind 7DMT to open, connecting Little Mermaid with Storybook Circus.

This is kind of a general question, but I wasn't sure what thread to put it in:

Assuming the speed of putting up attractions really is much faster at Uni than Disney, what is the reason for that?

Is it that Uni uses non-union (I.e. cheaper) labor?
Does Disney put more detail into their theming?
Anything else anyone can think of?

Maybe some of you insiders can shed some light on the differences. Thx
