Yes all, this is FLE thread, not Phase 2 announcement thread
As for FLE, I am not one to bash Disney a lot. Most of you know I have been on the other side of the argument many times, including NextGen (which I still think is a smart move by Disney). But when it comes to FLE, I love the CONTENT of FLE. I love the circus, mermaid, Belle M&G and how different it is, I love the Dumbo additions, etc. I think the expansion served its purpose and hit the target market. I don't think it needs to be a thrilling e-ticket to be a success. I think it was a perfect mix of toddler to family rides. Just no tween rides, which is fine, I think those should be reserved for tomorrowland, fronterland, etc. Also, I think studios is their thrilling park and I hope that AK becomes more of that over the years too. But let Fantasyland be what it is, young kids, families, and people re-experiencing their youth.
Now where I do have an issue with Disney is their timeline. No way should they be this slow. From ground break to completion it should be no longer than Phase 2 at Uni (which I think is a fair comparison). No way should they open it and advertise it, with a HUGE part sectioned off and construction going on. This was a huge mistake by Disney and has made them look like idiots. If they want a tax break, how about building stuff in other parks instead of dragging out FLE for 5 years. Pointing this out, does not mean we are bashing Disney. We are stating the truth and for those of us that LOVE Disney the reason we hate it is because it is going to bite them in the butt. Universal is NOT backing down and while that is awesome for us, no one wants to see Disney go into the dark ages like Uni did once. We want to see both parks be successful (well actually for me all three because I include Sea World) and to do that, Disney has got to stop sitting on their hands and try to compete.
Do I think it is going to crumble in the next couple years, nope. Disney is a business and they have made some smart business decisions. But is it going to cut into sales, yes. The more it does this, the more they cut back, the more we get into this cycle. It may take 30 years, but Disney could very well be moving down a path that is not going to be very good for them and at some point will be very difficult to reverse. This is why many of us speak up and debate these things. We are theme park lovers and we hope that are worst case scenarios do not come true. But we still talk about them. Maybe in hopes that someone is out there reading some of this stuff. And maybe, just maybe will see the light.
