But why go out of your way to bash them? I can understand the frustration but if people are talking about Disney in a Disney thread what's the point in bashing them saying the same points over and over. Im not trying to single anyone out but jeez it gets a bit boring reading the same comments. And my point about fantasy lands was that it is aimed at kids hence the rides & meet and greats being there, it is what the kids want. They don't want thrill rides to the same degree that adults do. The theming is second to none in most areas of Disney. However I agree the rest of the park needs a kick up the arse but personally I think fantasy land has been done well. They just need to move on to the next land now. I think DHS needs move rides before MK does though.

I think you are all feeling a similar frustration which is that when work gets underway it should be quick and efficient. As much as I love Disney it does drive me mad that it has taken them so long to undertake the FLE. I fly from the UK every year and was really surprised last year that work on the Mine Train looked as though it had barely started despite the length of time and everything else being open. To their credit they did begin to undertake FLE way before HP 2.0 was even designed so there was no urgency then, however they should now be feeling the pressure to move things along.

How long did it take universal to build IOA? That had world class theming and rides and I think they built it in roughly the same time as FLE? Surely a project taking so long can't be either cost efficeient or satisfactory? If they had pushed to complete this sooner, I am sure they would have had more money and time to focus on other more value adding projects.....

Playing Devil's advocate visitor numbers are on the up - perhaps Disney doesn't intend to spend a fortune on new rides when they can simply tap into the numbers universal are bringing in. They can't hold anywhere near the capacity of Disney so unlikely they will take much custom away anyway?

You people do realize that the difference is that HP 2.0 hasn't been announced, right? It would be like opening Wizarding World without FJ being done and there being construction walls everywhere.

You do realize HP 2.0 was announced on December 6th 2011, right?

Details were not announced, but HP 2.0 has been fact since that point.

I watched the recent promo video and I can't believe how far behind they still look. Even the Princess Hall looked like it needed a ton more work. I'm surprised Disney even showed it at all. And the mine train footage felt like it could have been taken 6 months ago. I like how the engineer pretended to get excited about all the track finally arriving...like we should be excited about something that shouldnt take that long at all. I mean Cedar Point builds MONSTER coasters in the span of a winter season.

Its not that I thought the ride would be open "early", I just thought they woudl have a lot more done by this point. It almost looks like they will barely make their deadline at this rate.

well only the interior sections of the ride will be really intricate, and from what I've seen there are only two or maybe three show rooms?

How long did it take to build Splash Mountain? Now that is a HUGE ride, with tons of show scenes and detail...does anyone know?

I guess by now I was expecting most on the exterior to be finished, and all the hard work/intricate details left to be done inside.

And that princess hall does note look all that exiciting from the concept art...

Wasn't that announcement really just about California getting Potter? Was there really anything announced about additions to Florida?

That announcement was that potter will be coming to Hollywood and the Orlando version will be expanding.

they said in the announcement that Florida would expand as well..but were tight lipped on how it would expand. There hasn't been any word from Universal about it since, despite everyone pretty much aware of what they are doing.

To clarify hasn't been any word, they have repeated the statement that they are expanding potter. Just no details as to where, when, what is going there. But the project was announced

Its just a fancy M&G, but in no way should It take them longer to build than any ride of substantial size. But this is Disney and they are dragging these projects out so it really comes as no shock to me

And there hasn't been an official "announcement". One off-handed sentence in the Universal Hollywood announcement is an acknowledgement, not an announcement.

You guys forget that we are "in the loop" concerning theme park happenings, but the vast majority of this market doesn't know it's happening. And as far as I know, Universal has only mentioned it once....in California. But Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer pretty much announced it for them.

Trust me that there is an official announcement coming.

I know internally they consider this announced. For example when Tom Schroder was asked about what Buddy Dyer said he said they had no new information to share on the "already previously-announced expansion."

On a side note. When Tom Williams (Chairmen and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts) sits on a stage with Harry Potter talent, Ron Meyer (President and COO of Universal Studios) and Barry Meyer (Chairmen and CEO of Warner Brothers) and tells the media "And speaking of Universal Orlando Resort, now is the perfect time to tell you that the wizarding world at the Universal Orlando Resort will be greatly expanded" how is that not an announcement?

So....if it already has been officially announced I guess there is no need for a media event in Orlando, right? Why waste the money on a second official announcement.

I personally don't consider one sentence at the Hollywood media event as an official announcement for the Orlando project. There will be a media event in Orlando, most likely with them dropping some concept art and very few details of what will be included.

Well considering I didn't actually say anything about having a media event in Orlando not really sure how your drawing conclusions to my opinions on that.

But yes, if it was just to announce that there will be an expansion then it would be a huge waste, you know since it's already been announced. (In fact by the very people who would make an announcement here)

What would be far more likely is to hold a media event to reveal more, since all they said up until this point is the expansion exists. But that wouldn't be an announcement of the area.

How many local Orlando media were at the Hollywood announcement?

Their national affiliates where there, and it was covered on the local news here. And like I said, they can have a media event, that doesn't make it an announcement of the area. It has already been officially announced.

I'm not sure what your looking for me to admit here.

Bottom line, it was announced. It was done so to the national media. It was covered on the local news in Orlando. The Universal Orlando spokesperson admits it was announced and admits there is a potter phase 2. It is internal considered announced. They can hold all the media events they want in the future, but they would be updates, not official announcements, as that has already happened.

So, Universal holds an announcement like this for one attraction:

And a whole land with 2 mega E-Ticket attractions gets one sentence at the press event in California for WWOHP Hollywood 3000 miles from Orlando? That is one monstrously underwhelming Official Announcement for a $500+ million addition.

I'm sorry you don't like the way they chose to reveal it, but fact is the announcement exists.

Just to be clear:
announcement [uh-nouns-muhnt] - noun - public or formal notice announcing something

47 seconds in -

If you for some reason don't want to acknowledge that it happened that's fine. I grow tired of only being met with "But they should do it here too" and ignoring that once something is announced its out there. So..... :focus:

Regardless of what we call it, there will be an "Official Announcement" media event in Orlando.
