snarky comments about Disney? I must be on OU Forums!

I will be at the Magic Kingdom next week with my 3 year old. Looking forward to annoying everyone with my giant stroller and bratty kid!

Can you blame us? It's quite inspired. Disney and Universal are the main properties in Orlando. Universal is doing amazing stuff, and coming out with new projects and improvements left and right. Disney, on the other hand, has New Fantasyland and a TT re-theme, but otherwise seem to be pretty stagnant and unexciting. I know it sounds like a lot of praise for Uni and a lot of criticism for Disney, but I think this is well deserved on both parts. Though, nothing's black and white. Disney has been getting recognized for the nice things about Fantasyland and TT, just like Universal is still criticized for its shortcomings.

Well, have fun at MK!

Being a fan of Disney right now is like being a fan of a bad football team. You're still going to buy the gear, go the the games, and support them, but you know they can be doing better then they are.

Does anyone think the walls will be down around Rapunzel's restrooms by Jan 30th?

Thanks for posting those pictures and the links to those 360 panoramic shots too. That was pretty cool seeing those, especially the one in Be Our Guest, even though I still wish it was a dark ride instead of a restaurant.

I visited today and it was pretty busy. Then again, Disney just lifted it's black-out dates for Cast Member maingates so that likely contributed.

I was fortunate enough to dine at Be Our Guest yesterday and was just completely blown away by the theming and the service. I hope to eat in the West Wing every time I visit, such a cool room!

not going to do a whole trip report or anything, but let me just say Disney definitely still has "magic" in the magic kingdom. It's been almost 10 years since I'd been to the park, and this was my first time bringing my daughter, but we were blown away with how well run this park is.

I think a lot of people on thie board are not looking at this park the right way at all. It's definitily a park aimed at young families and nostaliga, and it hits that mark right on the head.

I've been to Universal and IOA more times in the last decade then any Disney park, and to be honest, I don't think Universal comes close to what Disney is doing in terms of shows, entertainment, or overall atmostphere. Sure the rides are old, and I get why people want bigger and better, but i really am happy that this park is the way it is. It's exrtememly old fashioned, despite a few modern features.

Those interactive qeues you guys whine about? I thought they were a lot of fun, and a great way to pass time in line.

Those terrible terrible Meet and Greets?.... Some of the best moments we had at the park. My daughter lit up like a light bulb when Rapunzel said " Estella, I have been looknig for you, to wish you a happy birthday"

It was my daughter's birthday, and she wore a button to promote that, but I had no idea that almost every person/character would wish her a happy birthday. Even the fast food attendant. It was like clockwork, but came off extremely natural. I think my biggest surprise was during the Electric Light Parade (which was just as incredible as I remember it), when Cinderella, and many others stopped to wish her a happy birthday as well. This is the stuff you just don't see in other parks..it's these little details that make all the difference.

Overall, we were really, really impressed with just about everything (the Fort Wilderness resort was another highlight). I am already thinking about our next trip.

Glad you had a great trip

December 2011 we went on a long weekend trip that so happened to be over my birthday and it caught me off guard sometimes how many people wished me happy birthday and even had a manager of some sorts give me some fastpasses (of my choice) at DHS, which was really was pretty cool. I even forgot I had the button my my camera strap so the day after my birthday it really caught me off guard when someone wished me happy birthday
