Muppet Courtyard is going to become a part of Grand Avenue and be renamed "Grand Park":

"The current Muppets Courtyard will become Grand Park, an urban square off Grand Avenue surrounded by shops and restaurants like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Guests can already see changes in the area, with the Muppets theater being renamed “Grand Arts Theatre” and boasting a brand-new marquee. But, not to worry – Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang continue to star in their hilarious and irreverent “Muppet*Vision 3D” show."

It makes sense to have that whole area in one cohesive theme.

It's be a heck of a lot more cohesive if they tear down the eyesore of the Muppet Studios store soundstage smack in the middle of the courtyard and replaced it with smaller matching buildings and trees.

I've been wanting that to happen for quite awhile now.

Besides, that store is way too big for the purpose it serves and it also makes it very hard for the average guest to find Mama Melrose since the building hides it. Seems like a no brainer to me. They could maybe even have some room to install a flat ride or something in that area if they wanted.

I wonder why they never opened a Muppets Whatnot Workshop like they had in FAO Schwartz in NYC. It was like a Build-A-Bear, where they "build" your own custom Muppet. They were about $75. It seems they would make a killing with one at DHS.

That's awesome! If Disney can sell that many Avatar toys, then this should be a sure thing.

If memory serves me correct, they tried this out at DS years back when it was still DTD.

It was rumored for quite a while, but then the rumor disappeared. The only one was in NYC. And it closed when FAO Schwartz closed.

They should revive it inside both DHS and DCA.

I know the water lines are currently being put back in place for the fountain, but that would really say a lot if they removed Ms. Piggy from it, especially since they don't have to.

No Miss Piggy may translate into a short stay for the Muppets.

Maybe they'll replace it with the real Grand Park fountain... or not, it's big:

Every time I went to FAO in middle and high school, I went over and watched people customize their own muppets. I was utterly enthralled by the concept and was really looking forward to the Workshop coming to DHS and I could never understand why it didn't. If there's any place people are looking to buy a premium gift like that, it's Disney World. Pandora's Banshees are proof of that. If you could build your own muppet and have clothing options like a Mouseketeer shirt and a pair of ears, I have every faith Disney would make more than a few bucks.

Interesting. I noticed the new signage on my last trip in July but didn't think anything of it. I kinda hate the Muppets spelled with the weird Kermit M. But I do have crazy nostalgia for everything about Muppet Vision, so my judgement is probably clouded.

The other area they need to fix/clean up is where M3D empties out the back.
That right side is now a dead end and construction walls block off where the TS and Cars M&G were. They could build something in that space, or it could be a future path to the back end of that section of land where the current entrance road and cast member buildings are.

That. And demo Studio 1/Muppets Store for something more appropriately sized so we can see Mama Melrose from Grand Ave.

Notice how the new swinging gates line up with the backstage road in this pic... That's because it will be a fire escape gate and everything behind those gates will become backstage.
