I don't think Disney will be "embarrassed" by Potter one bit. I also think it will make attendance at DHS sky rocket. A 3rd Potter ride isn't going to bring in the same type of returns.

Last I heard Disney was making an actual Star Wars Hotel. I don't think UOR will come close to topping that kind of immersion. Unless they create one of their own.

If only Harry Potter had some sort of boarding house adjacent to Diagon Alley. They could call it something like The Drippy Pot.

;)....UC is mailing your employment papers now. Dave, the house master, for The Leaky Pot Bed & Breakfast/ Rum Spiked Butterbeer, with an interactive Pub in the basement. Maybe you could wear one of those Ollivander's Wizard outfits. Sounds like a winner to me.

Something I want to mention on the "hotel". I REALLY REALLY don't think this will be a typical hotel. Disney won't advertise going to the parks while in it or other typical Disney or Loews hotel things.

I think THIS is The Star Wars Experience name Jim Hill was floating around. Everything about this sounds like a planned live theater experience than a place to "just" rest your head. As such I think this will be a highly limited experience and not for everyone. This won't be the gate busting addition many think.

This is why I reject the idea that all Universal has to do is build is a hotel next to Hogwarts or Diagon Alley. This isn't about some characters and fancy rooms, this is about live action role playing and experimental theater.

Anyway sorry :topic:

Poseideons Fury and Sinbad are two of the lowest rated attractions at IOA so I imagine a replacement is in the cards, but not during this project.

I'm kind of bummed to hear that about Poseidon, but not surprised, I guess. I just hope that whatever eventually replaces it - Potter or not - is a unique experience with a facade and entrance half as cool as what we have at Poseidon's Fury.

I enjoy Poseidon also. Not worried about it though. Universal has so much on it's plate, it's probably still got a good 4 plus years or so. And it just got refurbed this year (lasers and effects are back) as did Sinbad last year. Agree on PF facade. One of the best in all theme parkdom.

Eh, I wasn't worried about Energy for similar reason.

Now it's gone forever.

Ran across a line I havent seen mentioned before...

"Our award-winning Universal Creative team is once again collaborating with Warner Bros. and the production design team from the Harry Potter™ films to bring this new coaster experience to life."

So they're using the production team from the films.. for a coaster... That'll be interesting.

They've used the production team from the films for all Potter attractions.

True, but it seems to both step away from any idea it might go "beasts" and also cement that they're going for a very extensive visual experience.

A production design team does -not- design little hills and water puddles that hang out underneath Dragon Challenge.

Not necessarily.

It could be a true coaster experience with minimal screens and the production crew is just there to mostly oversee the queue and surrounding Forbidden Forest area.

But they have the ability to do something like that and get it approved by WB without paying for those people. Hence the giant torch lamps in the FJ extended queue that must be dusted daily - they're to look old, not dirty or disuse per the agreement.

I was just giving a theoretical situation. I can't definitively answer a question that I don't know the answer to.

I truly hope it's not for more Potter. After this expansion and the Diagon expansion I think that's more than enough Potter in the parks. There are way too many other awesome franchises out there begging to be attractions in theme parks.
While I'm a fan of Potter, I'm a bigger fan of Islands of Adventure. I loved the park as it was on my first visit, and that was long before the Harry Potter stuff.

Again, this is not an expansion but a replacement.

I'm still holding out for their to be some form of expanded walking paths and a bigger courtyard in front of the castle..

I think this survey was part of the reason Universal really may be pushing more Potter and also explain why we are getting F&F.
