I know it's waaaaay too early to judge the event, but i'm already a little disappointed knowing we're getting so many houses based on existing properties. I was thrilled about silent Hill, and even cool with WD. But now we have 3 houses that will be similar to Hollywood, which takes away the originality of the Orlando park. And they are "predictable" in that we are familiar with the universe these houses take place in. I was hoping for more original houses like Hades and saws n steam. This is the first time i'll be able to attend an HHN event, and I desperately wanted to attend the last 3 events and now I have the means, but i'm not particularly thrilled because I feel I know what to expect from these houses.
Again I know it's far too early to make any calls on this event, and that one guy said he was most excited about working on this event. Time will tell, and i'm prepared to eat my words!

Just because Hollywood and Orlando have the same houses so far means nothing. Each event is totally different, same with the houses.

I think there wouldn't be so much disappointment if the houses were revealed in a more "Orlando" way. There was always buildup to the houses whether it was Mary's diary or the online games last year. Now they are just coming out and saying, here's an IP house and another will be announced soon. The amount of hype that usually comes from the HHN reveals is being taken away and that is where the disappointment from me is coming.

Concerning originality; it's a lot more difficult to come up with fresh ideas than one would think. Hospitals, prisons, haunted house, hell, hotel, shipwreck, clowns, killers, fables, black plague, old west, apocalyptic conditions..... it's all been done. As long as they don't rehash houses from year's past, I'm content.

I've said this multiple times, Halloween has fallen into a VERY specific formula, and for the first time in years this formula is being drastically challenged. This is good. If you guys want more years like 2010 and 2011 that's on you, but personally, I'm really excited for the change this is going to bring and how it will completely change the landscape of the event for years to come.

I don't follow HHN that closely, but I am curious, how do you perceive that anything major is changing about the event and its formula?

For the first time since 2008 we have new house locations.
For the first time since 2006 we have 7 house.
For the first time since 2005 the Jaws Que is not being used.
For the first time in since 2007 we have more than 3 IP's
For the first time since 2009 we have Universal working with outside companies on IP's.
For the first time since 1999 we will be having a marketing icon and not a proper icon.
For the first time since 2004 Universal Parks and Resorts Division in answering to a new company.

And the laundry list continues for next year. Which I'm going to all but guarantee will be in both parks.

Lot's and lots of change. Some of them you could argue as bad, but I disagree, things are changing, and I like change. It brings in new ideas.

Are we for sure seven houses? Just bringing it up because I see them avoiding that just on a general PR move of having an event with eight for years and going down to seven. It sounds silly but they avoid those kinds of things.

Parade
Soundstage 33
3 soundstage houses
Sprung buildings 1 and 2.
Disaster

SS33 isn't usable from what I understand. Unless SS22 has a dual run house in it, we're looking at 7 houses.

Soundstage 33 does seem a lot smaller and lacks certain features so I would not doubt it not being used.

But I would still feel fairly confident in seeing eight houses.

Last I heard, SS33 was still happening. What caused some of you to think that it wasn't?

People have been cast in the Parade Building for a house. Of course, they could just be doing something goofy again.

So I guess we're getting Hollywood's house from last year?

He will.

Sprungs are Penn&Teller and Cooper, Soundstages are Silent Hill, Gargoyle-themed house, and Victorian Haunted House/Poltergeist, Disaster is Walking Dead, and the Parade Building or SS33 (who the heck knows) will be ????

So is the Penn and Teller house pretty much confirmed? Or still rumor and through the grapevine?

Considering that we heard about P&T in February and the rumors haven't calmed down since, they're all but confirmed at this point.
