I'm surprised we aren't getting a Krampus or a Crimson Peak tie-in, since both have roots at Universal. Perhaps they've finally accepted the HHN "marketing" tends to not work after at least four duds? (Dead Silence, Doomsday, The Thing, Dracula: Untold...)

You keep complaining that we're shooting down your ideas as "not gonna happen" this year. it's another to keep insisting it could happen when you're told that it isn't happening.

You keep questioning the list. You've done it repeatedly, both for the houses and the zones. Of course they can change.

Alice in Wonderland is public domain and is popular fodder for haunted attractions, mostly because the material is so inherently bizarre already. Presenting a well-known work with a "scary" twist is a horror staple (after all, we have Scary Tales). Doctor Who is a specific, non-horror IP that people don't immediately associate with horror. It also, as of this year, isn't going to happen.

You keep saying I'm complaining when in reality you're the one doing all the complaining. Seriously, "you're told that it isn't happening"... Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? You talk like you're in charge of HHN. Are you Mike Aiello?

Using your own words... Nuff said.

At one point Alice in Wonderland hadn't been used for horror attractions. You speak as if because something hasn't happened before, it can never happen. There is little to no difference in using Alice vs. Dr. Who (other than obtaining the rights for Dr.). Neither are horror properties, but both have creative creatures that can easily be used with almost no effort for any haunted attraction. If anything Dr. Who has way more potential in the horror department. Have you even watched the show? It's not just Daleks and Cybermen. It has some really great stuff to work with. Dr. Who will come to HHN some day (99.9% not happening this year), but until that day arrives, all I can do is hope and throw out my opinion on the matter. The way I see it (and I could be wrong), is that the more people talk about something maybe it will happen. That's just my opinion.

Well... The Anniversary House could be done so many different ways, it could be anything really.

Was The Thing really a dud? Damn. (I just looked it up) It lost money. I didn't think that movie was all that bad. The original was obviously better though.

Back in Feb. I was hoping that Krampus was coming. With the release of Michael Dougherty's Krampus in Dec., it seemed to be an almost sure thing. But then the list was dropped, and all I could do was shake my head.

I'm not sure you can count Dead Silence and Doomsday as marketing duds considering both of those were theatrically released in March and was released on home media the following Summer before HHN. (While Doomsday was a meh house, Dead Silence was a killer dark horse house.)

List or not.... Dr. Who is not legitimate speculation because it's not a legitimate IP to base horror off of.

Whoa whoa whoa, one of the chief characteristics of Doctor Who is MONSTERS that make kids hide behind the couch, and some of the monsters that have been developed since the series relaunched ten years ago in particular are enough to scare the pants off an adult. None of the HHN houses over the years have ever really scared me at all, but a house that traps me in close quarters with some Weeping Angels easily has the potential to make me piss myself.

I don't think Doctor Who is going to happen, but if Universal can put Ghostbusters in a HHN survey I think Doctor Who is fair game for speculation.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's much chance at this point in time that Doctor Who will be a likely possibility. Maybe if it continues to get more popular over the next few years. I think Universal would be surprised by the response they'd get if they took a chance on Doctor Who (and VERY pleasantly surprised by the merchandise sales), but unfortunately I think the franchise still has a general reputation as kind of a niche thing, even as super popular as it has become. I think Ghostbusters is more likely to be considered, though, haha.

Parade building house is really crammed this year. The facade is a foot away from the door. Also inside is PVC pipes (which is normal for HHN houses) as well as lobster traps. The facade walls are 16 ft tall. I figured I would share this.

I'm not commenting on the quality of the houses - Dead Silence was excellent, I liked Doomsday, Thing was a fine house in a season of great houses... also completely forgot about The Wolfman, which was a great house advertising a mediocre movie.

My point being, the strategy of "marketing" either the theatrical release or the home video release doesn't appear to do a whole lot.

Is the Dr Who talk here regarding why Aiello is in the UK?

Partially... Yeah, but for the past couple years I've been hoping and praying to see a Dr. Who house done. So I do realize it is more wishful thinking than anything else.

Here is the video footage of Mike's press conference in London.

Nope. It's a pipe fan dream that isn't likely to come to any fruition any time soon. (I know they did want to incorporate the Doctor more prominently into Bill and Ted 2010, but failed to come to an agreement - hence the Doctor's throwaway line about how his "legally acceptable time is up.")

Weeell... I can only approve if you are nostalgic and thinking 1940-1980. The only reason they make those today is for tacky furniture or old ones for theme park decor. :)

Most traps today appear as:

BTW, I just learned some troubling news about this years event. Eye opening budget cuts. I have yet to hear the reason, but I am wondering if the 9th house proved a bit much for their overall allotment.

Troubling news indeed. Any word on what the cuts might affect? Is it wishful thinking to hope that they cut RHPS and spread those dollars to the houses and zones?

Received some clarity. Example: It is much like a new E attraction, in that the designers went nuts... designed 80 animatronics and finding out they can only afford 42. No animatronics here... but you get the idea. The "nuts" were cut.

Sorry for the alarm!
