I think they might be releasing false info on purpose, similar to what happened in Hollywood when they lost Conjuring and rumors got out they were gonna get Thing/or Leatherface/Or Chucky but ended up with Titans of Terror

Wouldn't be surprising given how much people seem to know on here from seasons past. Lots of leakers on the inside.

Just to clarify, the “original” list of speculated IPs this year were...

Stranger Things
It
Nightmare on Elm Street
Blumhouse Halloween
AHS Cult
Trick r Treat
The Thing

Is this correct? It’d be funny if this is the line up and Creative saw it leaked. So now they’re engaging in misinformation until the official announcements.

I'm only REALLY confident in 4 of those.

I’m going with Halloween being the uncertain one. ST is announced, AHS is a logically cash grab consistent with the two previous years, and TrT can reuse costumes from last year which makes it cheaper. Also, TrT won Street of the Year last year, so there’s an audience for it.

Okay, let's play.

We know Stranger Things so that is a given.

@Legacy said he was only confident in four and @horrornights789 provided three additional IPs, only two of which Legacy said he was confident in. Therefore, we know of at least one other IP on the initial list that horrornights789 did not mention, but that Legacy is confident on.

Personally, I am thinking The Thing, because it is a Universal movie. Since it is not an outside studio, I assume that it would be easier to get the rights to. It has also been featured at the event in some capacity three times before if you count its appearance in Silver Screams

Plus there was that hint from a while back in the thread that had to do with sequels coming before the original, which definitely seems to point to Thing. As for the one that Legacy might not be certain of I’d guess it’s TrT but at the same time I’d imagine they must’ve signed a multi year contract

There are decent arguments for either house that go like this:

Blumhouse Halloween

Pros - they have a good working relationship with Blumhouse, HHN is obsessed with slasher houses, HHN has already done two Halloween houses, and it would work well from a marketing standpoint

Cons - Blumhouse has been very secretive about this movie so a house that gives stuff away might not be ideal for them

Trick 'R Treat

Pros - they have already had a well received scare zone, they have worked with Michael Dougherty in the past (Krampus), and it is a WB property so they have a working relationship with the company

Cons - it is a WB property and while they have a working relationship with them sometimes HHN IPs are an issue, IT might be off the table which also happens to be a WB IP, there is no guarantee there was a multi year contract since usually that applies to houses, and while the scare zone was well received the property is still relatively niche so it might not justify an entire house if there was not already a multi year contract in place

Really hoping for Trick R Treat. It'd be very easy to make a house out of.

#1--Emma's death
#2--Charlie's death
#3--Wilkins and son
#4--School bus
#5--Quarry with zombie kids
#6--Werewolf girls
#7-9--Kreeg's house (Sam)
#10--Kreeg's death

While I agree entirely, I think it is less about what scenes they could adapt and more about how interested crowds might be in this house. I will admit, the zone was always crowded and there were lots of pictures taken in that area, but that area is always crowded since it is a bottleneck and I am curious how many guests knew who Sam was. I mean, in all actuality people could have assumed it was an original which leaves me to wonder why would Universal would pay for the rights again if it was not a multi-year deal?

I don't even have a ton against AHS, I think they could make it work just fine, but it would be beyond cool if they could stick to the 80's as much as possible. TrT is close enough.

Cult would've been more appealing to me if they had gone for a past controversial election. To me, "present" political fiction works far better being about past events that parallel current ones. Aaron Sorkin's works never interested me for that very reason.

Y'all I don't think TrT is happening as a house so I'd pump the breaks. I think we got lucky with a scare zone.

If we lost TrT for Lost Boys... if that's what the hub-bub is actually about, I'm fine with that for sure. But it's likely more complicated than that and who knows if the original leaks were ever totally real in the first place?
