I'm just more of a Jurassic Park fan, all things considered. The Kong ride does sound amazing, but damn, I would kill for it to be utilizing the Jurassic IP instead.

Kong is gonna be great, I just wish it didn't constrain and take away from future Jurassic expansions.

I say everything (besides river adventure) could possibly be on the chopping block if world comes out strong. We might all get a WAY bigger expansion/retheme than we are thinking now. Kong will definitely not take away from anything

You know.... I never thought about that!

But what would they replace Camp Jurassic with? It's honestly one of IOA's high spots except for Pteranodon Flyers. But I'd be down for the Discovery Center and Burger Digs getting repossessed for the rumored Mr. DNA dark ride. A flat ride might be able to fit into Camp Jurassic with some work. And then use the Triceratops Encounter plot for a new attraction based on Jurassic World.

Can't see anything at JP getting completely replaced except Pteranodon (for a more high capacity suspended track ride hopefully!)

I would be fine with the River Adventure getting a complete makeover, with the level of detail that newer attraction (like the HP stuff) gets. My biggest gripe with the River Adventure is how the majority of the Dinosaur AA's aren't very screen accurate. Perhaps they can spice things up, sneak in a Mosasaur or something while they are at it. If the park gets rebranded to JW, perhaps have one of the 'old Jurassic Park' gates show up in the ride after you get pushed off course.

Camp Jurassic could get a makeover that pulls more people in, perhaps removing the Pterandon Flyers and replacing it with something similar, but that would allow for adults and children to ride. Monorail tour maybe?

Redo the Discovery Center downstairs into some sort of dark ride/show/attraction, and then build the 'ambermine' or JW tie in wooden coaster in the old Trike plot.

My grandkids love camp Jurassic and everytime we're there, it's packed with kids playing. I'd hate to see it go.

Well they could probably retheme river adventure to world and add more robots from world, possibly new audio and finale? They might have to retheme that entire finale building if it goes through a world retheme. I can't see camp Jurassic going but probably a retheme of that (rumored playground in world) also the trike encounter could be rethemed to the gentle giants petting zoo (announced for world) updated world discovery center (more futuristic looking with possibly the underwater restaurant?) and the T. Rex park home of a rollercoaster (woodie?) and some flat rides. Seriously JW is all about the park and I have a feeling the designers of that movie had islands in mind while making the scenery and rides for it. If this expansion is like this, potter might have some competition

Apparently the T-Rex photo-op is gone.. hopefully it finds a new home sooner rather than later.

Anyways, Colin Trevorrow has gone on record to confirm the plot of Jurassic World revolves around a new, operational park.

This has a ton of potential for expansion opportunities, so lets hope we get something really cool out of it.

I was there today and yes the T-Rex is gone now. It's been moved to the east side of the site towards Ripsaw Falls. I saw the T-Rex sticking out over the maintenance gate between the construction site and Toon Lagoon. The car is still there though.

In other news, I'm not sure if this is anything new or if it was mentioned or not, but I noticed construction walls between the Trike Encounter and the Jurassic Park Discovery Center. It didn't span a whole area, just an entrance-like section. Maybe this will be where the T-Rex will end up...

I could see a complete re-imagining of JP if Jurassic World turns into a successful trilogy...but..from what I've read, it sounds like a cash in project..I would love to see a mine train with dinosaurs and a tech upgrade to River Adventure..that would make me a happy camper..still though you can't deny the excitement of Kong returning home..

And I never knew that the T-Rex was a half-a-T-rex..what a neat illusion

Well you never know, there is probably a ride in JW that you'll look at and just scream at universal to build it. I personally wasn't really all that excited for a amber mine anyways. It was never in the movie and what scenes would be in it? I'll take a world retheme over that anyday

Camp Jurassic is the best kept secret in IOA. We're older & we love it. Can't see them touching it. I'm sure it's a fairly low cost attraction in a small footprint, and probably has high satisfaction ratings. That's an unbeatable combination.

Agreed, whatever D-ticket comes to the TE plot is going to be from Jurassic World. Still pulling for the omni-dark ride (even if it means most of the Discovery Center becomes attraction space aside from the exit area which can have a couple interactive exhibits) in Discovery Center. Would love to see Pteranodon replaced with a more efficient, high capacity suspended track ride. Camp Jurassic's perfect (maybe an observatory tower inside?) and the River Adventure could use some love.

I'd love something like ET but set to JP, and of course it would have to have those beautiful caves found in Camp Jurassic ...

You know this expansion could have a giant Epcot feel to it if they wanted too. Adding incredibly interactive exhibits at the exits and having Dino meet and greets around the park. I know for a fact they have a ultrasaur puppet in japan and the raptor puppet in Singapore, they could just transport or make clones here. The streetmosphere here could be nuts and would make the island with a ton of dead space as alive as possible

Debated posting this in the "Movies" forum, but I'll post here so we can talk about how the movie may or may not relate to the JP at IOA. Seems like the movie is in really good hands. I love the "teenager texting" part.

-------

Remember those rumors that JURASSIC WORLD was going to feature at least one dinosaur hybridized with other, non-dino animals? Well, in an interview with Colin Trevorrow that Slashfilm posted today, the director decided to address these rumors, while providing a few more hints at the narrative direction the third sequel is taking.

On what JURASSIC WORLD is:

"Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. You arrive by ferry from Costa Rica. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It’s the realization of John Hammond’s dream, and I think you’ll want to go there."

In regards to the rumors of crossbred dino(s):

"We were hoping audiences could discover this on their own, but yes, there will be one new dinosaur created by the park’s geneticists. The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that’s what they get.

I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren’t doing anything here that Crichton didn’t suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak. It doesn’t have a snake’s head or octopus tentacles. It’s a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level. For me, it’s a natural evolution of the technology introduced in the first film. Maybe it sounds crazy, but most of my favorite movies sound crazy when you describe them in a single sentence."

On Chris Pratt's character:

"Chris Pratt’s character is doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren’t trained, they can’t do tricks. He’s just trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings. If people don’t think there’s potential in those ideas, maybe they won’t like this movie. But I ask them to give it a chance."

On the time-frame/context of JURASSIC WORLD in regards to its predecessors:

"This film picks up twenty-two years after JURASSIC PARK. When Derek [Connolly] and I sat down to find the movie, we looked at the past two decades and talked about what we’ve seen. Two things came to the surface. One was that money has been the gasoline in the engine of our biggest mistakes. If there are billions to be made, no one can resist them, even if they know things could end horribly. The other was that our relationship with technology has become so woven into our daily lives, we’ve become numb to the scientific miracles around us. We take so much for granted.

Those two ideas felt like they could work together. What if, despite previous disasters, they built a new biological preserve where you could see dinosaurs walk the earth…and what if people were already kind of over it? We imagined a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves. 'We’ve seen CG dinosaurs. What else you got?' Next year, you’ll see our answer."

The movie sounds killer, I'm sure they will explain a ton of plot holes in the original movie aswell. I hope this expansion goes that route

I wonder if they can incorporate the lagoon and make some sort of 'Isla Nublar Lagoon' attraction. Spiritual successor to JAWS with a Mosasaur anyone?
