I have been hearing about the amber mine for a while, but the 2nd attraction has always been rather, shall we say "nebulas". Now I am hearing more Kodo and Kang's-ish than I was hoping.

Are they pretty much all but confirming that the amber mine is happening? or are we still dealing in hypotheticals?

I wonder, if "water dinosaurs" (prehistoric marine reptiles) are featured heavily in JP4, will they opt to feature them in the park? And if so, I wonder how they plan on doing it? I suppose the river ride would be an easy fit, perhaps replacing the Parasaurolophus that knocks you off course with one of the aquatic dinos from the film.

I'm really into walk-through, experiential attractions. Since it's supposed to be a "nature park," I'd love to see an attraction along the lines of Trike, but with aquariums. They could fill them with real fish and have underwater animatronics of plesiosaurs, etc. (Have underwater AA's been done before? I can't think of any off the top of my head.) I'm just daydreaming, but I think it could be cool.

I think I would love Helicoptours but I think that ship has sailed a long time ago. The Mine coaster sounds interesting but I would even rather have the revolving room from the first film. More dinosaurs are needed.

Well, there were the underwater animatronics in 20 000 Leagues Under the Sea, but the level of motion was quite limited.

I think Universal Creative would be smart doing what they did for the DisneySea version of 20 000 Leagues and faking the underwater element, thus keeping the animatronics 'dry'.

I doubt that will happen, especially considering theyre muddling the area even more with the new games.

The games are better than the things I'm talking about there.

If they have to keep those timeshare/hair braider/rock climb stuff, at least spread them out around the area, rather than just dropping them all in one spot like it is now.

I would love this, but I'm guessing anything that could be new like this died with the dark ride. But I wouldn't mind being wrong..

I know exactly what you're talking about. There are too many "Pretzels, Popcorn, and Soda" stands in JP. Then when you factor in the hair braiding, the tattoos, and the *shudder* timeshare stall... It's not pretty.

Yes it totally takes away from the theming..I never understood the hair thing anyway, costs a lot and comes out the next day..seems like a waste..

What I think the expansion will end up being, and what I posted on Parkscope, is:

1) Amber Mine Coaster on Thunder Falls plot. The area here is similar to the area of Big Thunder Mountain in the MK, so I expect a somewhat similar ride experience. This will be a critical step forward for IoA adding some "everyone" rides.

2) "Springfield" in the Triceratops Encounter plot. Now, obviously I don't mean Springfield exactly, but I see this area becoming something similar. Food trucks, placemaking and theming, and 2 flat rides to increase the attraction count. IMO the flat rides will be something we haven't seen in either park rather than repeats.

3) General Island placemaking. JP has some problems, especially by the River Adventure. They need to get rid of the timeshare guys and the hair braiding and fix the feel of Jurassic Park.

Exactly! It's a slow process - Twirl n' Hurl, Hogwarts Express, Amber Mine coaster, the rumored kiddie rides in Trikes plot, KidZone revamp, Seuss expansion (Lorax dark ride, etc), Wonka replacing LC - by 2020, USO will be a place everyone can enjoy

2 flat rides? I would be okay with one flat ride but the rest of that plot should be used for that Discovery Center dark ride or an AE-style show IMO. And the flat ride should be unique- no food trucks! it worked for Springfield but it takes away from the jungle feel... I'd actually motion moving all of the kiosks except maybe one or two out. There's like 10 right now and all of them detract from the jungle atmosphere

A Music Express-style one or a mini-swings ride (kiddie version of chairswings) would be perfect and they're ones not yet featured in IOA or USF. A ferris wheel would be perfect for Seuss (triple decker, and themed to Yertle the Turtle - I think yes!)

I think Sneetch Beach would be a prime location for an eye-popping first-of-its-kind flat ride though  use Trikes plot for a nice indoor AC-filled people-eater and make a flat ride and one food truck as appetizers

I said what I think is going to happen, not what I want to happen. I'd be all for a dark ride. But I'm not holding my breath.

And "food trucks" wasn't literal. I meant offerings wise they would be similar.

I could definitely see a Swing type ride themed to Pterodactyl's. Or the spinning music ride. Where each seat could be a different Dino. If Universal would really put their heads together they could definitely come up with some really neat concepts for heavily themed family type rides. I also think they should have a ride themed to just Raptors. Besides the T-Rex they're always the most popular and recognized Dinosaurs.

I get the whole desire for just the Raptors buuuuuut the whole premise of JRPA is you get bumped off track into a RAPTOR containment area and they have just so happened to have broken out..and oh look...a T-Rex.

You can only do so much with a concept before it gets repetitive.
