If they could cut camp Jurassic it would create a gigantic area for a ride

Cutting camp jurassic is liketaking one step forward and two steps back. And we forget that expansion is not aimed at adults. Its for kids.

The whole point of the expansion is to add kid-friendly appeal. Camp Jurassic is a perfect example of a well-themed, well-executed kid-friendly attraction. To get rid of it for a small kid-friendly coaster would be, like USO92 said, like taking one step forward and two steps back. If you're trying to expand the offerings for children, you can't do so by demolishing one of the few things that already appealed to them. Otherwise it's' not an expansion, it's a replacement, in which case what's the point?

How close is camp Jurassic to the Trike plot? Could a coaster/ride run through or above camp Jurassic without compromising the area?

Google maps is your friend.

The boxes just above JP hot dogs are TE. CJ is self evident. so, the area surrounded by path lines is surrounding both.

I hope that even with the small footprint they find a way to extend some length to the new ride. I don't think a minute ride will cut it.

Building some caves on the lagoon section (AAs and effects inside) might help extend it to 2 minutes if the ride slows down during this increment... with a drop at the end and some fog to end it.

Something like that is exactly what I'm hoping for.

Haha I'm posting from the line of expedition everest atm. In theory, would Universal be willing to utilize the space in that way, or is the small coaster set?

I have always thought it would be cool to ditch pteradontist fly trap and have the majority of the coaster in the TE area but have it cruise the old outlines of the flyer thingy.

JP needs a more themed family oriented coaster, not another kiddie coaster! Even if they just brought a poor man's thunder mountain with some AA's, that would be a lot better than another kiddie coaster. And this ride you posted would be a lot better of an idea than a same old carousel or recycled flat ride. The main thing that needs to happen here is the JPRA needs some work on it. Also the actual island itself needs more of a dino feel to it. I'm not expecting a whole lot from this expansion now but they need to at least consider some of these small things. And if they do bring a kiddie coaster they need to at least go all out with a JPRA refurb and some island refurbing.

Where are you getting that it's a "kiddie" coaster? Pteranadon Flyers is a kiddie coaster in that it has a height maximum. Hippogriff is a kiddie coaster in that it's got cramped seats and the enjoyment of the ride comes from the tame thrills rather than theming. NOTHING anyone has said about this new JP ride has suggested any of these things. Just because it has a (rumored) top speed of 20-something miles per hour doesn't make it a kiddie coaster anymore than Space Mountain is a kiddie coaster for only going 28 mph.

It's supposed to be well-themed, which is something I think everyone can enjoy. The rumored manufacturers of the ride aren't known for building exclusively "kiddie" models. And in the end, it's another attraction, and one that isn't supposed to be super intense. That can only be a win, right?

Usually I hate when people say "stop complaining until it's opened" because the whole point of discussion boards is to discuss. But this thread particularly has kind of jumped the shark. People are getting upset over made-up things. Nothing has suggested this addition will be strictly kids-only or have any cheesy carnival-like aspects to it. Even better, everything has pointed to a nice little addition that gives kids extra stuff to do at the park...and that's what we've all kinda been shooting for, right?

I always got the vibe this was supposed to offer mild thrills. Something more akin to Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain. Thunder Mountain is not a particularly fast ride, but it definitely offers mild thrills and is a lot of fun.

An interesting concept. I'd rather see the carousel replaced with something new for the young 'uns, but the rest has potential. I've always been one who's holding out hope for Mt. Crumpit, so I have no concerns with what the rumors are proposing for JP at the moment…so long as everything is indeed well-themed. I'm holding off on judgement until I actually see it (IF we actually see it).

I still think the JPRA needs a refurb badly. Even more so than any new rides. The ride has lost the magic it had to me originally. I usually skip it most days I go.

Agreed, I think the tech has evolved enough to do some more complex things bringing the Dinosaurs and gags to life, even if the overall story/concept remains the same. Also, there really is no excuse for the Dinosaurs not to look more like their movie counterparts.
