There’s also the matter of maintenance with regard to the figures during the coaster portion. If you use AAs, you have to build access to both the behind the scenes circuitry and the AAs themselves. Considering the limited space they already had cramming a highly themed coaster in there, it likely would have become a question of deciding if it was worth allocating space to support a blink and you miss it effect or just theming. When thinking about how the raptor figures are positioned (on rocks above the track), it’s obvious they already had to get creative in order to even fit static figures with everything else.

Interesting. I hadn’t considered the maintence element of using AAs within the coaster section.

Something else I’ve been curious about: what’s the block brake situation for this coaster?

As far as I know, moving figures were never planned for the paddock area. Tracked/sled figure for finale in early plans only as far as I know. (And even then, it’s a track it would be moving along, no idea if figure itself would’ve been animated.)

Plus ensuring that the figures were weather-proofed sufficiently such as Hagrids.

I agree. :) Also the first scene is a LOT cooler than people might think it is. I would look closely at the raptors here.

So excited for everyone to ride!!!

So kids, we are finally here. This has been a fun build to watch. I know TMs can't say much, but I'm sure we will hear something.

Universal theme parks booming with busy Orlando spring break; executive touts VelociCoaster opening

Shell loves the thing, just watching it from the bridge between Lost Continent and JP is jaw dropping.

The best laid plans of mice and men, seems UOR is not policing TMs as much as in years past.

-----

Over 8 years, 900 pages, at least two attraction concepts, hundreds of updates, and one global pandemic later: Jurassic World VelociCoaster is now open for TM previews and UOAP previews later this weekend.

First, some thanks:

@Alicia for her work on here and OPS with rumors, permits, inside info, and continuous updates.

@RollermanDan for putting up with my a-holeness, his reporting on info, construction updates, and more.

Bio for his aerial updates from the start of Trike Encounter demo through the pandemic construction updates to today.

@Scott W. for his photoshops and jokes.

And finally, the protected osprey of the Orlando area.

BET WINNERS:
