I'll lay out all the info I was given. Universal has pitched to Disney, an Ironman indoor launched B&M flyer. They want it launched so they can build it in a show building with extensive themeing. Uni Creative would like another crack at themeing a big boy coaster. And it would be the first launched flyer.

Curious how that discussion went..

Uni: Hey
Disney: *turns head other way* hey
Uni: So, um, we want to build an Iron Ma-
Disney: NO, Hu-uh, No Way!
Uni: Alright I guess we'll get the lawyer on the phone then..this is gonna be expensive
Disney: Expensive you say? Well hang on..maybe we can talk

Disneyhead, I was told whatever it was would be Avengers themed, not just Iron Man, but something may have been lost along the way there

Nah, not worth it. We will know after 2016 if anything will happen. IMO, this would be in the end of Uni's new 5 years plan

I agree with Surge [sic] that it would be a very important piece (of MSHI).

I actually could see Disney saying yes to that to be honest. People may going to Universal but it would also bring people to Disney in the rising tides bring all ships to higher levels. People go to Universal, merchandise goes up, Disney profit from merchandise goes up due to increasing money being spent, people stop be Disney even for a day while being in Orlando. Its a win for Universal-small win for Disney situation.

yeah I always thought this would make perfect sense for an Iron Man ride.

I really hope this happens....

I also think to an extent they know that Uni has that land and plans to keep it for the long run. Best thing they can do is try to sell the merchandise as much as possible. Bring in a new ride, bring more people to MSHI and spend money that they would benefit from in MSHI, rather than the money they dont see in potter

That is a good point that a new E Ticket would bump up food and merch sales in that area, a bigger pot from which Marvel can take their cut.

Wouldn't another coaster completely kill the point of Universal's current mission to bring more family-friendly attractions to the parks?

Due to the prone body position, a launch on a flying coaster would be pretty uncomfortable - hence it not being done yet... Also, flyers are notoriously B&M's floaty-est, most drawn-out, lowest-G (pretzel loop excluded) ride type. I'd be very interested to see how one worked as a compact indoor ride with tighter elements.

This would be pretty cool though. It'd be neat to have the only two launched B&Ms in the world right next to each other, and I dig the cartoon aesthetic used in Spiderman, Hulk and Dr Doom so I'd be happier with this than a modern Downey Jr version of anything at Disney.

I wonder how this will go down given Disney's intentions to do a Star Tours - style Iron Man ride in the Far East though?

Well I really hope it doesn't have that Downey jr crap. To me marvel superhero island brings back the times when heroes were allowed to be ridiculous and flashy unlike today where everything is dark and dead serious. I mean there will never be a movie today where the sinister six would steal the statue of god damn liberty and that's a shame to me. I say bring on the cartoons and old style comics but that's just me

I think the G-forces are one of the main hurdles Disneyhead is alluding to. It would have to be a VERY ingenious design and a rather tame launch (closer to 40 mph than 60 mph), but wow, if this happened, I'd be thrilled. Kong and any eventual Seuss addition will be very family-geared, so I don't mind a thrill ride every once in a while.
