From the sounds of it.. This NBC/Fallon thing seems like it's going to use similar technology to The Legend Of Captain Jack Sparrow/Disaster Pre-Show? Right? I'm guessing we will see a pre-show video (someone introducing us to NBC studio or whatever? Second pre-show telling us about what's going to happen, we're filming a tv show or something, then the main show room will be seated with the set at the front. Post show filled with movie and tv show props and merch for sale??? All just a guess that I am basing off what I've heard, fast attraction to build and can be changed easily.

I would think that it's going to take some time to gut the building, but I also think that there will be lots of Infrastructure from twister left over behind walls and curtains if they're going to get this open by the end of the year

From the speculation and clues given I believe Twister will be a motion simulator using Dynamic Structure's moving theater concept

What I'm scared about though that a Fallon attraction would become the next FFL after a couple years but whatever, I'm just happy twister is being replaced

Haven't watched SNL since I turned 21, so I barely knew the guy, but was very impressed when I saw the Tonight Show tapings this Summer, have become a fan. Ratings seem to be fine, so I think he's in for at least another decade. Tonight Show hosts probably have a longer shelf life than FFL or American Idol.

Shame about KidZone falling through; next to FFL, Fievel and Barney are the most dated part of the park. I'm not sure even parents of toddlers remember An American Tail.

This would make sense if Twister Is not becoming the Fallon experience.

I think you're assuming the "Fallon experience" will be an experience of the Tonight Show.

Hmm...that's what I was always assuming too. Are you saying it's going to be more along the lines of Akbar Adventure Tours...where the ride was hosted by a celebrity but otherwise completely unrelated to him?

That's one situation I had been told, yes.

Honestly, there's so many wacky rumors about the attraction that I'm not comfortable saying it's 100% this or that.

But one thing I was told was akin to the ride being Soarin' Over New York City hosted by Jimmy Fallon, more or less.

I was told the idea for Fallon was because of the popularity of The Tonight Show at Universal last spring. I cannot figure out how building an attraction with him could ever equal the live tapings. It just seems like a kooky and misguided reaction.

Yea, it's certainly an odd idea.

If they can pull it off, more power to them.

It just sounds so bold and unexpected that I want them to do it.

Attractions Magazine posted some interesting rumors:

E.T. will be getting a new entrance next to the museum and major refurb
Spongebob might be Kidzone's replacement
If Fast and Furious takes over San Francisco and Beetlejuice's sequel is a success, the show could be moved to Fear Factor
Star Trek is the top candidate to replace Shrek with Pacific Rim as an alternate option

Kidszone being pushed back and scrapped for now is IMO a GREAT move by Universal. While Disney is indeed the kings of entertainment for the little ones, Universal still needs to cater to them to continue expanding its reach and image to the tourism industry. Replacing the one and only thing for the little guy with yet another teen / adult based land IMO was a terrible concept. Would it of been awesome yeah, but overall it would of done more harm than good for the bottom line. I hope that Universal does gut Kidszone and is just waiting for a IP to land in order to make it happen. If you step back and look there really isn't much to choose from outside of Dreamworks at the moment. How to Train Your Dragon is a must IMO but their relationship with Dreamworks has seen better days...

As for the Jimmy Fallon concept, I think if done utilizing his humor and wit along with a unique ride system it would be a hit among guests. Universal has shown us time and time again they are all about the here and now, not the classics and laurels. So it fits in just fine with their way of doing things. Not to mention with the mass influx of guests Universal plans to see over the next 5-10 years the cross promotion of NBC/Comcast properties within their park just makes sense to me.

Fallon soarin? Bah that's lame, it would also just add yet another motion simulator in an area where 3 are incredibly close by. I rather have the show, atleast then we'd get another show and it would make sense to have it in the New York area. Whatever happens happens but man, I really rather have the cheaper option here

I'm not necessarily sure it'd just be a 4D movie. If they got rid of Lucy there'd be quite a bit of space, plus the way they described it makes it seem like it'd be a ride of some sorts.

HTTDY, unfortunately, just isn't a draw compared to the big kid-friendly concepts out there. The sequel was great, but really failed to find an audience or any kind of word of mouth.

Also, I'm not sure how much getting rid of KidZone would have hurt the bottom line. It's not much of a draw as-is.

Can we get rid of Animal Actors? Seriously, why does it exist?

And Cafe Labamba or whatever it is?

labamba will probably go down for the museum or the new ET entrance. Animal actors is cute and isn't hurting anybody, don't see it leaving soon

I am all about rides, but if replacing Twister is for another screen based attraction and replacing Disaster is also for a screen based attraction, count me out. Too much 3-D and screens in the park as it is. Give me more physical experiences with sets and animatronics. There needs to be a balance, and lately everything has been very screen heavy.

As for the Star Trek attraction...I personally want to see more than a simulator or 4-D theater. It deserves more.

Kidzone...while I love Fievel, the rest can rot. I hope they get a great property and get to this section of the park in the next few years. It's so outdated.

A) Who said Disaster was being replaced by a "screen" attraction.

B) Gringotts and Kong are the future. There's always going to be screens in the rides along with physical stuff because that's the only way it can be done.
