I'm not judging the rides until I'm there in person and haven't seen much from either of them. All I'll say is that Shaman animatronic is amazing

My main disappointment from watching the river journey video a few times is not a disappointment in the number of AA's, it's the complete lack of story/journey. Sure, folks have criticised Kongs story, but at least UC tried to give it one.
Both rides are actually pretty similar really, some scenery and screen work, before a giant AA. River journey however is literally just passive, with no drama or involvement in a story whatsoever.
I still look forward to trying it out someday, but I'm in no rush either.

I will save my final jugdment of the river ride (and everything for that matter) until experiencing it in person, but after seeing the POV I'm somewhat disappointed. I remember being absolutely blown away the first time I saw the POTC shanghai video.

I just would have expected a little more from the same people that brought us this...

Check out the depth. Everyone was rightfully nervous about the "mountains on sticks" but it all looks incredible.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie Avatar is when Jake first ends up in the forest and he's surrounded by all this exotic and dangerous wild life. I guess that's what I was expecting. It seems like a no brainer for an attraction.

Especially when said attraction is shoehorned into Disney's ANIMAL Kingdom, not DHS.

Hey, for anyone going to a Pandora preview soon, I might have a way for you to help us with understanding the ride system. :cautious: From what it seems, you place all your belongings on a shelf along the back wall in the 'link chamber,' so maybe you could have a GoPro or phone recording from the shelf of how the ride systems works, offering a behind the scenes angle! :ears: Now I'm not reccomending someone do this, but just an idea...

I will say - and this may be due to the exposure/camera shooting - but it doesn't read bioluminescent. It looks great, but not bioluminescent.

Now they did say they weren't done so it could be me jumping the gun (and again, could be the camera too), but I did expect more than just giant coverage of blue/purple on the trees.

On the first picture, I think the overexposure made it look less bioluminescent. I think the floor will look really cool in person.

The second picture...not so much. I swear, those red flowers just look like they have a spotlight at the bottom. Still cool, but you're right - not really bioluminescent.

Yeah, the floor looks great. Shame they couldn't get the step feature to work. But the floor out of everything I've seen is the most bioluminated.

This land is giving me serious Camp Jurassic vibes.

And I mean that as the highest compliment. Wow, I might actually be a little excited to see this in person at some point.

Can you guys disclose upfront in your "reviews"/opinion pieces that it's based on watching a video online? So that I can skip it?

I'm guessing the land is much dimmer than those pictures. I'd guess exposure time in seconds from the amount of light pollution captured in the sky.

The River Journey ride does seem boring but I think it's placed in the right park. What other ride has the same kind of pace within Animal Kingdom? Also, anyone can ride it, from toddler to great grandma, unlike many of the attractions at the park.

Honestly, other than the safari, this would be it if. Unless you count that Dinoland spinner.
