I think I'm out of this thread. Too much negativity and for the first time in too long, I think this is something that I really want to go into blind to experience.

Have fun ya'll!

I take it that neither of these attractions have a dark side... there is no battle over the rocks etc.?

There seems to be no Universal brand twist of "but something goes horribly wrong" in either of the rides. I think the river adventure is a calm, It's a Small World type ride, and I believe FOP is a little bit more engaging version of Soarin.

I've said this before, but the fact that the river journey isn't filled with AA creatures is a huge waste of potential.

It really should have been Jungle Cruise on Pandora. Not The Living the land on Pandora.

I should remind some of you that the general public are excited by bright and shiny things. So this may be a more popular attraction than you think

As someone who was looking more to the boat ride, that was my biggest disappointment. It's pretty from the few images I've seen, but it seems to have no soul.

In the video from Attractions, it almost just looks empty, if that makes any sense.

I wouldn't call it soul less, maybe just empty or hollow. I mean it's cool that they have one really awesome AA, but id personally take 5 or 6 lesser AA instead of one.

I remember reading that the boat ride almost got the axe for budget reasons, so something is better than nothing. However it still feels like this could have been another E ticket attraction if they wanted to spend the money.

I was also way more interested in a giant alien beast AA vs a singing shaman.

That thing with the glowing antlers would have been awesome to see in real life.

Based on the video's I've seen I have the following to share. (These are my personal views and don't present your truth or the absolute truth in any way):
- The land looks beautiful, as does the rest of AK. But I don't buy into the floating mountains and the Pandora aesthetics from the movies.
- The boat ride looks nice but boring. The AA in the end is impressive but the music will be my death when stuck on that ride. I would ride it once but not more.
- The Flight of Passage que: It's long and there are a lot of exit signs in there. The AA in the queue is impressive. The holding areas videos are very long winding and they try to explain to much. They don't explain why we can breath on Pandora so why bother if it doesn't makes sense. I would be okay to have that not explained to me.
- Restaurant: One of the most depressing restaurants I've ever seen. I wouldn't eat there if the reality comes close to the video. Some of the more healthy food options look great to me, I'm afraid due to the "picky eaters" that food will be gone within a year. The Banshee chardonnay and pinot noir wines are the most disturbing one (for 9 bucks!). Is it squeezed from a Banshee, I just don't get that name. ;)
-Souvenirs: The store looks to be a great match to the merchandise in it. not impressive. The rotoscope thingy to have your head on a Na'vi is a surprise and I'm sure they'll be moved over to Star Wars Land because I would be surprised if people want to buy such an expansive souvenir for this ip.

But in the end, even the nice things, don't make me care for any of it. If I would visit AK I would visit it but I didn't care for the movie and the Cameron preaching and I don't care about the land or the world created by Disney. Maybe if the next 4 movies have a story and characters I could care about it could change but for now not so much. But I'm sure the fans of the movies and the general public will be delighted.

Could you imagine the crap, well more crap... , if it was just FoP......

Again though, I'm just speaking on a few pics (I did not see the video) but I agree it needed more AA's.

Just for full disclosure I haven't seen the walk through video either, this is coming from just my own opinion of what I would have liked the ride to be. The ride could still easily win me over.

We shall see I guess.

River Journey is honestly a tad bit lame, just a warning.

I've more or less tried to avoid seeing too much of the rides and more concentrated on the actual land and so far it looks like it will blow my admittedly low expectations (not a fan of the movie) out the water.

However I'll make my mind up when I get to experience the entire land in September and at least now I'm actually looking forward to it whereas before I was only gonna go because it was something new and I'm going to be at AK anyway.

Isn't there another AA Avatar at the start of the ride. It barely moves but I'm pretty sure I saw one. Never mind, it was just a convincing screen.

Also, can't the spinning animals and floating jellyfish looking flowers be considered AA's?

If those bats in Kong are considered AA's then I don't see why the butterflies that flap their wings on the river journey ride aren't.

I think that's in the line for The other ride, and I think it's cool as hell looking. I'm just talking about the river adventure ride in general, not the overall land.

I don't know I just envisioned something a little grander.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie Avatar is when Jake first ends up in the forest and he's surrounded by all this exotic and dangerous wild life. I guess that's what I was expecting. It seems like a no brainer for an attraction.

Now I'll say This again, I haven't watched the ride through, and it's possible these creatures appear on screens like that jaguar thing from the early press videos, but even if they do, I really with THAT was the AA.

I'll get over my disappointment I'm sure when my daughters mouth drops. I'm sure.

The "IP" argument now applies to all theme parks. It's not sacrilege, it's business, sadly.

It's how all theme parks base their big budget attractions now.

Yeah, I would have preferred the original concept for Beastly kingdom too, but that's spilt milk at this point.
