And Nostalgia is also a big reason why adults come back and why WDW is based off of 99 percent return rate. Unheard of anywhere else in the world. And it would likely be higher than 99...the only reason it is not closer to 100 if not 100 is because we are mortal and some die before they can afford to go back.

So when they change things to much it gets into tricky territory. Regardless. With Dead Men Tell No Tales, the mist Screen, the storm and now mermaid business going on everywhere...the pacing is just too much regardless on how you feel about the movie synergy. Its just so darn busy in the tiny WDW area.

The only thing that really makes this too busy is the mist screen. It's cheesy, awkward, and is a floating phantom head of Blackbeard which doesn't make any kind of sense what-so-ever. The mermaid's swimming and the captured corpse is actually pretty neat and fit into the cavern pretty well. Personally, I find a mermaid intro better suited than some dude in a bayou. Keep the mermaids, ditch the smock screen.

Been on the ride 3 times now and it hasn't worked yet!

Mermaids Make a Splashing Debut at Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World Resort
Last month, we hinted here on the Disney Parks Blog that something from the film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” would be added into the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction here at Walt Disney World Resort.

These new additions, the lovely (but also dangerous) Mermaids of Whitecap Bay, recently made their debut at the attraction. You can spot them early on in the attraction’s grotto scene, where you can spy a mermaid skeleton and possibly even catch them swimming alongside your boat. You can also hear a mermaid beckon you with her siren song just before your drop into the pirate battle. Additional rockwork and props have also been added into the Dead Man’s Cove scene.

This isn’t the first time something from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise has debuted at our Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Famous faces from the film, including Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, and most recently the ghostly apparitions of knaves Davy Jones and Blackbeard, have all materialized over the years.
