Checking trip advisor. Person claimed that they were not allowed to bring any outside food or drink into the hotel. They are claiming the hotel is forcing them buy overpriced food/drink from them.
That can't be true? can it?

Seems a bit pointless to have a mini fridge in the room then.

Were they walking into the hotel lobby carrying bags with food sticking out of it?

The Trip Advisor review could have been a troll too. They get lots of those kinds of reviews. Or, as BriMan says, someone misunderstood something.

Should that matter? When I travel I bring food to my room which is normally pretty visible. Never been stopped. I think this has to be some sort of miscommunication.

I was wondering if this "rule" exists at all. If it does, then people would still sneak in food in their luggage.

The claim is they were stopped by security, so I am thinking? They tried to take a cooler onto city walk? Not sure how or why a hotel would prevent people from bringing in outside food or drink. It is just so odd.

check out the Disney budget boards. People bring crock pots into the values, hidden in their luggage.

I stayed at Uni's Portofino last summer and brought some snacks and a few 12-packs up to our room on top of our luggage. They didn't say anything to us then so I don't think Loews has any "rule" regarding it.

I saw the same thing with arriving guests at RPR last time I stayed, seemed pretty normal to pack some groceries for a week at UOR.
Why would they put the fridge in the room? Maybe just to say " see nice fridge but you can't use it?"

That sounds more likely.

I think this claim has been shot down enough times, however I've stayed at all 4 old hotels multiple times and each time bring a cooler because my girlfriend prefers to pack lunches for the parks while I pig out wherever I can. Never said a word about the cooler and I don't even try to hide it.

It's on the website.

What to Bring to Universal Orlando

I think it's a judgement call by the security staff. I think as long as common sense is used, I don't see any real issues. Bringing a small cooler seems perfectly reasonable but bringing a massive cooler with enough food to feed a small army and being a massive inconvenience to everybody else is just selfish.

 Parks. It's not enough you have to pay for overpriced food but you now have to wear the overpriced clothing.

I should really stay away from the Disney boards. I just read a post from a woman who planned to bring in a portable heater to warm up her husband's packed in food. She needed to find a plug in spot, and planned to just camp there for a half hour while his food heated up. I can't even wrap my brain around that being a reasonable thing to plan on doing.

If I owned a big business, I'd be sure to make every business trip there.

That's a Universal's park's prohibited list, not the hotels at Universal .....Yeah, there's a ton of bizarre food stories on the Disney sites since they've been so liberal with food.

Sorry, I meant for the hotels because of the trip advisor review saying you couldn't bring food to the hotels. I never bring coolers into the park, just sandwiches in a backpack.

I think I got mixed up between your post and the one mentioning CityWalk.
