I agree they need to treat these like movies at least and tell a complete story.

As for Star Wars its a mixed bag.....Boba was fine and Obi Wan seems to be wayyyyyy to liked by most fans but that show is hot crap to me, like that show not only breaks Obi Wan seeing Vader before a new hope and for what? A cool fight but thats about it

So I think Disney needs to slowwwwwwwwww down and just make less shows but make them matter or at least feel like they matter more.

These shows are simply not made with the intention of telling a finished story by the end, which is the problem.

These shows existing essentially ARE filler content. Every last one of them and every episode. Disney wants to have their cake and eat it too by pretending these shows didn’t even happen (or referencing them as loosely as possible) when it comes to connecting a character from D+ into the movies.

Star Wars is doing a lot better of a job currently at telling more complete stories, even if not all of the shows are working. If Andor is as good as I think it has the chance of being, along with Mando S3 coming up, we're looking at some really solid Star Wars content in the foreseeable future. And the fact that Andor is getting a full 2 seasons and 24 episodes to tell a full, hopefully compelling storying which leads into Rogue One is also exciting to think about.

So far, the only MCU series out of the seven live-action shows so far to get a season two is Loki and even that show had it's issues, although imo, the only other MCU show that can even compete with it in terms of feeling complete is WandaVision.

Of course, both WV and Loki were able to get away with a lot more because in WV, Wanda created a false reality so they were only limited by their imagination. Loki is similar as this was a variant Loki from 2012 playing around with the TVA, so he could get away with a lot. Also, people simply love Wanda and Loki. When I was at Disneyland last week, I was eating at Pym's Test Kitchen outside and Loki came out for a M&G and you could've sworn that it was the 60's and the Beatles had just stepped outside with the way shrieks could be heard from women all over Avengers Campus.

I agree

It seems it has flip flopped in recent years to where SW is turning out the more interesting content and Marvel is turning out the mindless filler

But I go into the Marvel shows expecting filler and bad villains at this point, so I generally enjoy them. When the films are bad (such as the case with Thor 4), that's where I have a real issue.

You are under no obligation to like every Marvel show or movie. They are made by different people.

Allow myself to quote myself:

The great thing about comic books is that you can just get the ones you like. I was thinking that MCU was branching out with that in mind when WandaVision premiered. Different strokes for different folks; watch what you like.

By putting out so much content, Marvel Studios is attempting to make a film-based comic shop. Watch what you like, don't watch whatever. You like comedy; mystery; mental weirdness; thriller? Watch it then. If not, don't.

Sometimes there might be a crossover and you can watch a back issue. It works.

Which is fine, but we can also analyze deeper as to why it doesn't work and find patterns in the genre at large

I'm also open to shows changing mid-way through and growing on me

I understand that stylistically Marvel has to experiment to grow

I thought WandaVision was a recent example of doing that well

I can understand wanting to express your opinion about why something doesn't work but, like, if it's that bad to you there's literally a sea of other things to watch, or listen to, or play, or do. There's YouTube critical analsysis videos on why Phase IV is awful that are longer than an actual Phase IV film and it just makes me confused. Each their own, when I consume something I don't like I take a few seconds to think about why I don't like it and then move on. The burger analogy to me is more akin to taking a bite of a burger, saying 'thanks, I hate it' and then continuing to eat the entire burger while grumbling about how you wished you were eating steak.

I watched the first two episodes, thought they were fine but haven't cared enough to keep pace and that's perfectly okay.

Exactly. The show is by no means a masterpiece, but this is also a show made by women meant to skew more for a female audience. There's lots of people that do like this show quite a bit actually. There's also lots of people hate watching it, such as you seem to be doing @shiekra38. It's weird behavior. If I don't like a show, I don't stick around watching it expecting to like it more next episode.

If you haven't liked it by now, it's probably safe to say this just isn't a show you are ever going to like. I'd suggest letting the remaining episodes build up and if you wanted to try again then it's an easy binge, but like with any piece of art (or food) that you don't enjoy, you never have to go back to it again either. No one's making you watch it.

Excellent point.
And even with wandavision. All the character growth and her arc as a character was kind of destroyed with doctor strange 2. Everything she learned and all her growth disappeared because of the darkhold. I know people defend doctor strange 2 as in " Wanda was corrupted and possessed by the darkhold"
But it doesn't feel like a proper continuation
I know the darkhold is the end all be all explanation for Wanda's change. But it kind of makes wandavision not work.

Sunk cost fallacy is it called?
You spend 10 years, 15 years now following these characters and spent hundreds of literal dollars on this property with the box sets and Funko toys and stuff,
15 years of your life dedicated to following these heroes and being part of the fan community ( some people go farther with cosplay and comic convention)

I'm not defending the haters, but the same thing happened with walking dead ( in a bigger much bigger way since we had the horror nights houses and the free walking dead videogames on phone and Facebook etc)
So everyone completely trashes walking dead now and people go " don't like it, don't watch it"
But after hundreds of hours and hundreds of dollars spent on walking dead, you can't just quit lol.
Marvel, walking dead and even disney star wars. Teens today literally grew up with these being in their lives.
I'm not saying they have the right to do 2 hour videos on how these properties are awful. But it's too late to quit lol.

I mean, if you genuinely dislike something even after spending x amount of time, energy or money into yet you continue to do so is exactly that: a fallacy. So gather the courage and strength to just... watch something else.

The problem is everything being connected. You literally can't skip some of these shows or movies. If you wanna keep up.
Disney did this, " you must watch everything in order to follow the full story" they made everything connected.

I mean, I've skipped lots of things in Phase IV (Ms. Marvel, The Eternals, Shang Chi, Falcon & Winter Soldier) and I still loved things like No Way Home, Love & Thunder and Multiverse of Madness.

And honestly, unless you're that intent in knowing literally every detail, it's not hard to get a feel for what happened on the shows by using context clues and the fact that this is still comic book stuff, for the most part. The good guys probably fought some bad guys and in the end won or went through some kind of personal journey that results in how they are now.

I'm not like pissed about it lol

I was just pointing out some patterns I see with how Disney builds characters in the Marvel universe recently,

This is one of the lowest rated Marvel shows currently, a little autopsy to see why is not "weird"

There's people that make a living on analyzing media.

Watching the episodes again, none of them are " bad" . They really aren't. Is not bad, but,
But some stuff is really Annoying, really annoying.
Her family was annoying ( the humor of the scene was meant to come from their annoying)
But, they Are annoying nonetheless.

Everyone working in her place is, Annoying, every guy she went on a date, annoying. Even Hulk himself got annoying and preachy.
The villains have been annoying, she hulk best friend was kind of annoying a little. Magician guy, annoying, drunk girl annoyed some people.
She hulk herself is very charming and friendly. I feel empathy for her. She's someone I would like to be friends with. She's funny.
But it feels like every single human around her is annoying,
So we are meant to sympathize with her and connect with her, which I do, but since I'm seeing the show from her eyes point of view, every person around her has been made to be really annoying towards her. And that gets tiresome.

Seinfeld and curb your enthusiasm did the same actually, kind of. And there was a time when curb your enthusiasm got too annoying for me. The characters that Larry David encountered were too annoying sometimes.
I can see how this show is trying to do their humor in that way. But there's almost no regular people around she hulk. I can see that making people annoyed

I have enjoyed most of She Hulk so far. Obviously, with how much content Marvel is making now on Disney+ not every show will be for everyone and like others have said here that is totally cool.

I think my gripe with the Disney+ content is they are choosing to make these shows 6-9 episodes, and sometimes (in She Hulk's case) those episodes are clocking in at like 23 minutes excluding the "previously on" and the end credits. You could argue in the case of a 40-50 minute show, you are getting more time with the characters than you would in a film, but it seems like in each Disney+ project so far they have taken weird story steps and then quickly wrap everything up at the end. There is no room to breathe. I have a feeling that whole format is less of a Marvel decision and more of a Disney one, as the Star Wars projects have kind of felt the same way to me.

Hopefully we will get some connective tissue in this phase pretty soon. Right now, they all feel like stand alone stories which is fine but I know we are building towards something. Oh, last thing: @Lucky Planet I felt the same way about her family for the brief time we saw them, but for me it was because we just came off of Ms. Marvel who had probably some of the best written family stuff I've seen in recent years. I couldn't help but just miss the Khan family.

I caught this episode shortly after release this week and this was fine. I thought as a self contained sitcom episode without a special guest, it worked well enough. The tease at the end was cool, but we've known since well before this show started that Mr. Murdock was involved.

Todd showed up again and I think he's going to play a unexpectedly large part in the backhalf of the season, given that in the credits he is listed as "Todd/Hulk-Todd" and all. If I had to guess, i'd say he's the one who sent the group of guys out to get her blood in last week's episode and i'm going to guess that at some point Todd will get her blood. It's the only way the "Hulk-Todd" name makes sense.

Kind of strange that the last episode didn't have a post credit scene. I really liked the court room stuff though. The idea that Titania was able to trademark the She-Hulk name was great. I think I expected more of that courtroom drama kind of stuff in this show, so it was nice to get some at least!

I just wish they had another mini fight or the bad guys showed up or something.
The episode was good but we are almost halfway and the bad guys or their plot haven't been fully revealed
Only because by now we should have known a little bit more about it. She just got her she hulk suit so I wonder where this is going.

I know this is a lawyer comedy but she hasn't really done much as she hulk. Last episode was nice but story wise it needs to focus more. I'll wait to be surprised.

To me, it’s just a sitcom type of a show and I’m not really expecting it to get too much of a villain storyline. This is a case of the week show.

This is fine if this show doesn't connect to an upcoming movie. Or if there's a plot point at the end that leads to something coming after it ( they better not shoehorn a big villain plot or some revelation in the end )
I'm very happy if this just ends like the way most sitcoms end lol. No big deal or anything. Just a regular ending. Just a regular day.

I kinda wish daredevil wasn't in this. He deserves a more serious introduction. The show is too jokey to do anything meaningful with him

I’m not worried. He’s got an 18 episode season of his own show coming.

I hope they keep the jokes to Matt Murdock and let Daredevil still be seen as a badass. There’s a way to do both right. Hell, this show is the first time we’ve gotten a Thunder Clap since 2008.
