Yep, and New Coke beats Pepsi in blind taste tests. When comparing sips of "sugar water" the sweetest always wins, that does not mean they would drink something that sweet on a regular basis.

(I'll note that I am an exception because I always pick Coke over Pepsi in blind taste tests).

It means that people prefer the taste of one over the other, yet branding dominates. Blind taste test results like that demonstrate the power a brand can have, sometimes to the point of overshadowing the actual product the brand offers.

If you want to hate Richters and Louie's because its Richters and Louie's then you'll do so. But the food is essentially the same as in FFB. In my opinion, the real star of Springfield is the taco truck, even though I personally didn't love it its actually new food for the park.

That's true--I've always focused more on the actual substance than toppings though, so I guess it comes down to that. Usually if you give me a burger you can put just about anything on it and I won't really notice lol.

You're right. It is essentially a typical Universal theme park burger, just with different/extra components added.

I mean...the only thing different is the Chicken/Waffle sandwich and the huge (meh looking IMO) donuts. The rest is just mediocre additions to your standard generic resortwide Universal burger patty or pizza. Not very different at all. More in the vein of "variations of the same".

I'd like to see them take on different cultures foodwise. I'd like something fresh and new, and the taco truck is the only thing in Springfield that accomplishes that.

I agree that the quality is just a notch above some of the other better CS restaurants around the resort, but the selection is FAR better and greatly expands the CS options for USF. I will just list the rather unique items:

Not to mention the Kicked up burgers (Krustry Burger, The Clogger Burger, Mother Nature Burger), Kicked up Pizzas, Double Batter Fried Chicken (different than other CS), and the Fish and Chips (only CS Fish and Chips).

That list, seems to me, greatly increases the CS options of USF.

No exact time table on this but the Simpsons will be upgrading its projectors. Ultra High Definition is coming to the Simpsons ride along with a few other small additions around Springfield. My guess would be after HHN or after Xmas rush in order to install and clean a few things up.

On Saturday, I got to try a Carne Asada Taco from the Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck. I was surprised at the quality of the thing, it was actually a REAL high quality soft shell taco like you would find in a good restaurant. It tasted very good! I've also noticed how truly thankful and excited the chefs at Bumblebee Man's Tacos and Lard Lad's are. The quality of the food in the new Springfield area seems to be of a higher caliber than that of what I am normally used to eating in theme parks. Does anyone know if they hired new, high quality chefs to work here? I also got to try my first Squishee which is actually your typical slushee drink, luckily Universal doesn't seem to have really upped the price at all (just 4 dollars, not half bad). I tried the white cherry, and I thought it was good. I'm surprised I'm even going to say this, but if you need to eat while at universal Orlando Resort, the place to do it is without a doubt the new Springfield area.

Not an expert here but I would imagine no more than 2 weeks at most, and that is time budgeted for issues/new cable runs?

They don't normally take an attraction down for projector swaps unless it will affect other elements in the "room". As there are no other elements in Simpsons, they will just test and swap them out overnight. I have only ridden it twice, once as both attractions, are there two screen rooms?

I see what your saying about the sodas, but it seems like you missed my point. The sweetest beverage will almost always win, it does not mean that is what the people like to drink best. The fact that New Coke beats Pepsi which beats Coke in taste tests. But the "winner" New Coke is too sweet to actually drink regularly for most people, and the "loser" regular Coke is Americas favorite.

But on a side note, would you agree that some McDonald's are better than other McDonald's? This is exactly the same ingredients, and for the most part the same equipment. That is just part of the equation, operational excellence also comes into play.

Not really, people just choose what tasted the best lol. It's not like they're forced to drink gallons of soda at a time and have to decide what is too sweet. If Pepsi really was too sweet to be drank on a normal basis, it would be too sweet for a bunch of blind taste-testers as well.

Absolutely not, all McDonald's are gross . But I hear you about kitchen equipment and operations. The thing is, I'm not a food connoisseur, I taste what I taste and don't really notice many subtle differences. I'm guessing that's why my reaction to the burgers and pizzas in Springfield have been less stellar than everyone else's when compared to other burgers and pizzas around the park. I think the cheese sauce is disgusting and besides the thousand-island dressing, a Krusty Burger tastes exactly the same to me as every other burger around the park (same with the pizza).

Then again, maybe I'm not crazy and a lot of this new taste comes from the fact that it's Springfield (hence my Coke example). In any case, didn't mean to de-rail the thread, just wanted to know if anyone else found all the food options (sans the tacos, donuts, and other new offerings) were simply on-par with regular theme park fare. I guess not

I was only trying to enlighten you as to why there is no reason to consider the results from a so-called "Pepsi Challenge". The information I presented is based on facts, if you choose to believe your own unbased assumptions that is on you. A blind taste test like that does not determine which people truly like better, only which is sweeter. You can change my words around if it makes you feel better, but that is just as pointless as the "Pepsi Challenge".

Natespf is correct about the Pepsi Challenge. It has been debunked by numerous marketing studies.
The Pepsi Challenge only works with small servings. In small 3-4oz servings, the sweeter beverage, namely Pepsi, wins. However, when blind taste test participants are asked to finish 12oz servings and compare flavors CocaCola Classic wins by a hefty margin.
But, when you start switching labels very bizarre things happen. When sampling Coke from a bottle marked Pepsi, the results are all over the map due to preconditioning and brand recognition.
