i think that this update of star tours will be underwhelming, i pretty much assured myself of this.

Why would you think that? At least this Star Tours will be more firmly embedded in the timeframe of the trilogy, the only thing I'm not a fan of is the pod race sequence.

At the very least, it's going to be a vast improvement to the original Star Tours.

I've been a lifelong massive Star Wars fan, and when I first visited (what was then called) MGM Studios I was 14 years old and couldn't wait to check out Star Tours.

I was hugely disappointed. Ice comet caves? Huh? Where are the characters? WHY ARE WE IN AN ICE COMET? What does any of this have to do with Star Wars? Other than seeing some X-Wings and the Death Star briefly, there was NOTHING Star Wars about it.

I won't lie, I would much rather see Disney give SW the Potter treatment (expanded area in the park and an innovative ride beyond a simulator) -- but any way you slice it, at least this one is lining up to actually be a Star Wars ride.

That AA next to C3PO looks totally out of place and worn of any life. Hope that gets fixed.

That being said I hope C3PO actually has his hands leave the controls there instead of just his hands being on those throttle steering deals the entire time and a swiveling chair.

Yeah. We can tell from the picture that he is definitely there. The fact that he is in there tells us that alone.

In the queue/preshow area at some point they are going to introduce ACE. The latest in droid piloting technology but through a series of events of things being hectic and not as planned C3PO is going to get pushed into the job durring flight briefing.

What I am saying is I want his hands to actually be able to leave the controls at times and go back to them.

100% agreed, we were suppossed to be going to Endor and we end up inside of Ice, and then part of a mission into the trench of the Death Star? I mean we didn't even see Luke on the screens, at least then we would know WHEN we were in time versus a mash up of crap and then Death Star.

Don't get me wrong, I still rode it because it was a fun simulator and I love Star Wars, but I'm sure this version will be a VAST improvement.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed that they chose C3PO as the final pilot. Part of the charm of Star Tours, I felt, was Rex, no matter how little sense the ride itself made. I mean, they even integrated Star Tours into Star Wars canon, so you can't beat that.

At any rate, I'm just not a huge fan of C3PO. He is, to me, an unwelcome and unwanted addition to what was originally a great ride. Maybe they couldn't get Paul Reubens to come in to voice Ace, so they panicked? ;P

Everyone is dissing the story of the original but FJ follows basically the same idea no real plot just lots of creatures and set pieces from the movies.

But the difference is you see the creatures from the movies, you encounter the actual characters from the films, versus the original Star Tours the only thing we got was the trench scene. No Darth Vader, no Jedi's, no nothing.

^Exactly. The first time I rode Star Tours I thought "where was Darth Vader?". I was a bit disappointed. It is good to hear that actual Star Wars characters will be in this one. Going a bit off-topic here but do you guys think there will be a passholder event for this when it opens?

With soft openings and the such they usually squeeze an AP preview in. At least they used to. I am sure it is very likely.

That is one thing that Disney is good about with APs, they always have those events.

I dunno about a preview, with it opening at Star Wars Weekends. Perfect tie-in. That weekend is going to be CROWDED. And HOT.

Who will appear in Star Tours II? From StarWars.com:
The Official Disney Parks Blog has word of the expanding cast of characters coming to the newly re-imagined Star Tours attraction. We already know C-3PO, R2-D2, and some new droids will be on deck, but who else will join the fun? Here's what they say:

Well, it wouldn't be a Star Wars adventure without Darth Vader. The Dark Lord of the Sith will be accompanied by legions of stormtroopers and some new "skytroopers," designed especially for our show. Boba Fett, everyone's favorite bounty hunter, will also be after us, as well as an assortment of nasty droids and creatures.
Balancing out the villains are some classic good guys -- and even a princess! Master Yoda, Admiral Ackbar and Princess Leia will appear in the show to help guide our adventures. We may even run into Chewbacca along the way.

Now when it comes to Princesss Leia, hopefully they got a good look alike to play her, or maybe we just won't be seeing her as old as Carrie Fisher was but maybe a younger age??

Oh, the potential plot holes.:saber:

Christ...the more and more that comes out about this the more and more I worry. And having Fitzgerald in charge doesn't help.

BTW, there already are skytroopers.:bang:

Probably a kid/tween version of her. Hopefully she looks good.

Yet not everyone's played Battlefront. It's new to people who don't keep up with the games.
